CD on self-learning English course released

Tirupur: The Chikkanna Government Arts College, Tirupur, officially released the CD on self-learning English language course, prepared under a UGC-funded project, here recently.

Titled 'Shine with power of English', the CD contains lessons titled under basic conversation skills, listening skills, speaking skills, pronunciation and test yourself.

Releasing the CD, college principal Mohammed Kani said that the contents were prepared with utmost care to make even beginners grasp it easily.

User-friendly

"Instructions have been incorporated in English as well as in Tamil to make this e-tool user-friendly," he added.

A salient feature of the courseware was the embedded facilities to evaluate one-self and identify the areas for improvement as well correct the defects after undergoing the course.

"If correctly followed the instructions in the CD, a student can gain comfortable command over the language within a month," Mr Kani said.

The CDs were distributed free to all students in the first year of their various undergraduate courses in the college.

Members of the research team A.S. Mohanagiri, G. Subramanian, M. Muthukumar, Muralidhara Kannan and Manimekalai, all faculty members in the Department of English, were present.
