VIT to give awards to schools

VELLORE: The VIT University will be giving away awards to schools in Vellore district which registered 100 per cent pass in the Standard X Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and the Standard XII public examinations held in 2009, at a function to be organised on the VIT campus on Saturday.

According to a release, the awards are being given under the GV (G. Viswanathan) School Development Programme with the objective of encouraging best-performing schools.

Headmasters of seven schools in the district which registered 100 per cent pass in the two examinations would receive the awards. VIT University Chancellor G. Viswanathan would honour the schools in the presence of the Chief Educational Officer, Vellore, G. Moorthy.

Pro-Chancellors Sekar Viswanathan and G.V. Selvam would deliver special addresses. Books on 'World History' worth Rs.5 lakh would be gifted to each school.
