Despite the controversy which is prevailing over the gender test, South African Caster Semenya, won the gold in 800 m in the World Atheltics.

A double gender testing had been conducted by IAAF for confirming that Semeya is a female. According to sources, if she fails the gender test, the medals she had won will be revoked.

"At the moment there is no proof. The benefit of the doubt has to be with the athlete," said general secretary Pierre Weiss. "But if at the end it is proven (that she is not a woman) then the medal will be withdrawn".

Janeth Jepkosgei of Kenya finished second with 1:47.90 and Britain's Jennifer Meadows finished third in 1:57.93 minutes.

Semenya has been avoiding the media where as Jepkosgei and Meadows were not available for any comments. But Jepkosgei said, "We competed, she beat us, everyone is surprised by her".

Usain Bolt has entered the 200m final with an impressive 20.08 whereas his team mate Brigitte Foster-Hylton added gold for Jamaica with a 12.51 seconds victory in the women's 100 hurdles.

Robert Harting won the gold in discus in the last attempt with 69.43 m. Malachowski won the silver with 69.15m where as Gerd Kanter of Estonia came third with 66.88m.

The 1,500 m gold went to Yusuf Saad Kamel of Bahrain.

Even though, Bolt's performance will be the much-awaited event on Thursday, the other events on Thursday include finals in the men's 110 hurdles, women's 400 hurdles and women's long jump and the decathlon conclusion.
