A good teacher is an ASSET

Bangalore: It is always the teacher who tests the abilities of students? How about testing teachers' abilities for a change?

This is exactly what Educational Initiatives (EI), a group set up by the alumni of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, aims to do by holding the ASSET National Question-Making Competition 2009.

Teachers of English-medium schools can send in three to six questions in one or more subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. A panel of experienced teachers will evaluate and rate the questions and adjudge the winner.

The questions must be set keeping in mind children in classes three to nine and they have to be multiple-choice questions.
Educational trip

The five best teachers in each subject will be sent on an educational trip to Singapore.

Schools that are interested in taking part must register before July 31. Nineteen schools from Bangalore have registered.

The competition will get under way on August 4. Teachers can send in questions till September 4. Registration can be done online on www.ei-india.com.

The award ceremony will be held in November.
