Block teachers to be trained in mapping skills

TIRUCHI: Eighty Block Resource Teachers belonging to eight of the 16 blocks in the district are to receive training in Mapping Skills at the Woraiyur North Corporation Middle School, on Friday.

According to an official communication, 65 BRTs from the rest of the blocks underwent the training at Musiri Panchayat Union Elementary School on Wednesday.

In the scenario of rapid scientific and technological advancements wherein the world was considered to be shrinking, the training in mapping skills had been designed for upper primary students to make them conversant with all vital geographical information including locations rich in natural resources.

Through the training, students would be able to relate their learning to social situations, the communication said.

On Saturday, the BRTs were expected to transfer the benefits of the training programme to upper primary teachers at the cluster resource centres, it said.
