1,500 schoolchildren given Hepatitis B vaccination

CHITTAPUR (GULBARGA DISTRICT): Over 1,500 children from different schools were given the first dose of vaccination against Hepatitis B free of cost at a camp organised at the Shishuvihar School campus in Chittapur town on Friday.

The camp was organised by National Students' Union of India (NSUI).

President of the district unit of NSUI Praveen Patil Harwal said that the children would be given the second and the third doses of the vaccine on August 10 and December 10 respectively at the same venue.

The free vaccination and health camp was inaugurated by Priyank Kharge, general secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee and son of Union Minister for Labour and Employment M. Mallikarjun Kharge. Mr. Priyank Kharge said that the killer disease affecting liver could be prevented if proper precautionary measures were initiated.
