Varsity extends last date for admission to PG courses

TIRUCHI: Bharathidasan University has extended the last date for admission to most of its two-year PG courses and five and six-year integrated PG courses till July 27.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Registrar T. Ramaswamy said that walk-in admission through online entrance examination was also being made. He asked eligible candidates to contact the head of the department concerned with filled-in applications.

The two-year M.A. programmes (eligibility in brackets) are in Tamil (any degree with Part- I Tamil); English Studies (any degree with Part-I English); Sociology (any degree); Economics (any degree); Women's Studies (any degree); and Human Resource Management (B.A./B.Sc in any discipline and B.Com / B.B.A).

For admission to three-year Master of Computer Applications, the eligibility is any degree – admission will be made based on the TANCET - 2009 score and academic score in the UG programme.

For two-year M.LISc, the eligibility is B.A. or B.Sc. in any discipline. B.LISc candidates will be admitted to the second year of M.LISc course through lateral entry.

Two-year M.Sc programmes are being offered in Mathematics (B.Sc. Mathematics); Biotechnology (B.Sc. Biology – major or allied); Bioinformatics (B.Sc. degree in any discipline); and Geo-informatics (B.Sc. Geology/Applied Geology/Earth Science/Geo Science); M. Tech in Geographic Information System (M.Sc. Geography/Applied Geography/Geosciences/Spatial Information Technology/Earth Remote Sensing & Geoinformation Technology/Geoinformatics/B.E. or B.Tech in Geoinformatics); Geological Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics (M.Sc. Geology/Applied Geology/Marine Geology); and Information Technology (B.E., B.Tech, M.Sc. in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering/MCA).

The five-year integrated M.Sc programmes are in Life Science (Plus Two or equivalent with Biology/Botany and Zoology as principal subjects and with adequate knowledge in Chemistry and Physics); Geosciences (Plus Two or equivalent – any group); Physics with specialisation in Materials Science (Plus Two or equivalent with Physics as one of the subjects); and Animation (Plus Two with Physics and Mathematics).

The last date has been extended for admission to P.G. Diploma and Diploma courses also.
