MCA students stage protest

NALGONDA: MCA final year students of a private college in the town staged a dharna in front of the college on Sagar Road here on Monday protesting against the alleged failure of the college staff in conducting the viva voce examination as per schedule.

The students closed the entrance gate and prevented the staff from entering into the college demanding justice. The protesters alleged that the college staff failed to inform them about the schedule of the viva voce and ensure the conduct of the examination as per the stipulated schedule. They further deplored that they were on the verge of losing their precious academic year due to the apathy of the staff concerned. However, a section of the college staff rebutted the allegations and maintained that the students failed to submit their project reports before the prescribed time.

The activists of various student unions including the TRSV, the student wing of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, district president B. Devender also participated in the stir expressing solidarity with the agitated students. As tension prevailed in front of the college, the police rushed to the spot and tried to persuade the agitated students to end the agitation. The protesters called off the agitation following an assurance given by the management of the college to look into the matter.
