ADS Technologies launches their new video conversion device, the Instant Video To-Go yesterday, offering conversion speed of up to 5 times faster than real time (video length) comparing with regular software conversion which usually takes 4-10 times longer than real time. The Instant Video To-Go is industry's first hardware-based H.264 conversion solution for consumers, allowing users to convert popular video formats including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, VOB (unprotected), DivX and Quicktime.

The Instant Video To-Go uses USB 2.0 interface for connectivity. Compatible mobile video devices include Apple iPod with video playback capabilities, Sony PSP (latest firmware 2.81 required), cell phones and other devices with H.264 video playback capabilities. Users can choose to convert their video files into any of the following formats: H.264, MPEG-4 Encoded AVI File, Windows Media, MPEG-4 Encoded ASF File, QuickTime Movie, MPEG-1, 3GP Video, and 3G2 Video. ADS Tech claims that with Instant Video To-Go, a 100-min./2GB MPEG2 or VOB video file can be converted into high-quality (320×240), H.264 video in approximately 20 minutes.
