O2 released its first 3.5G Pocket PC in HK on the last day of February. The new Xda Atom Life basically looks pretty much the same as its predecessor, the Xda Atom: a black body with simple and clean outline, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a media player navigation panel along with the basic Pocket PC buttons, and a pair of shortcut bottons on the lower right side of the phone's body. In addition, it has a 0.3-megapixel supplementary camera for video conferencing purpose. The Xda Atom Life weighs 145 g, which is only 5 g heavier than the Xda Atom.

If you wanna turn the Xda Atom Life into a music station with SRS WOW HD surround sound effect, there is an O2 docking audio station, as well as a Bluetooth earphones with A2DP support. The retail prices for both products have yet to be announced.

Despite of what O2 announced earlier, its 2-megapixel camera doesn't come with autofocus function, but it's still good enough for taking 1600×1200 pixels snap shots, as well as close up shots. It also comes with pretty complete camera adjustment controls including brightness, contrast, and etc. The Xda Atom Life offers gigantic 1 GB built-in memories for you to store hundreds of photos, as well as MPEG4 recordings, and if that's not enough, it comes with a miniSD memory expansion slot.

Other than HSDPA connection, the Xda Atom Life also comes with supports for GSM Edge, WLAN, and Bluetooth to keep you connected even when you are out of HSDPA service range. Xda Atom Life is one of the fastest PDA phones running on Windows Mobile available on the market, it is powered by Intel XScale PXA 270 624 MHz processor, and equipped with over 25 pre-installed software applications including O2 connect, O2 SMS Plus, O2 Phone Plus, Worldmate, CodeWallet, SMS Backup as well as common Pocket PC business applications.

The Xda Atom Life comes with a price tag of HK$6680 (around US$855) in Hong Kong. It will be available in Taiwan next month.
