BSNL joins hands with Microsoft

NEW DELHI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has joined hands with Microsoft to launch 'BSNL Managed SaaS' (Software as a Service) in India.

The State-owned telecom firm is also awaiting government nod to come out with its public issue, besides looking for acquisition abroad.

Addressing a press conference here, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal said: "This partnership will enable BSNL to offer hosted solutions on core productivity, collaboration and line of business applications to business customers".

BSNL also launched 'Managed Business Mail' (MBM) as its first SaaS offering that moves beyond conventional e-mail options to empower businesses with tools to increase productivity, mobility and collaboration. This will provide a range of services for businesses across enterprise and public sector segments to enhance communication coordination. The unique feature of BSNL's MBM will be its availability from the mobile platform. This implies that the service will be accessible on smartphones of any service provider. BSNL's MBM will be available in four editions at affordable prices starting from Rs. 420 a month. About the proposed initial public offering (IPO), Mr. Goyal said they were waiting for the government's approval. "We will start negotiating with employee unions once we get the government's approval," he said.
