Scotland a dream destination for students

Scotland has acquired the reputation of being one of the most desirable destinations for students and tourists. With its academic history dating back to the 14th century, the country's universities now offer a variety of courses in higher education to attract foreign students as well.

Robert Scott, a former professor at a Scottish university, says that the universities in Scotland cater to the needs of students from all over the world and they offer wide-ranging courses from ancient history to most advanced courses like sensor design, aero-nautical engineering, drug design, bio-engineering, games technology and so on.

Addressing a seminar here, Dr. Scott pointed out that the country's scenic beauty attracts a good number of tourists from across the world.

Roopesh Bezawada, executive director, Clyde & Lothian (UK), said Scotland had initiated a drive to bring the world's best education within the reach of the Indian students through its various universities.

A specialist in Scottish education, Mr. Roopesh said some universities offer courses that give students an opportunity to undergo paid training programmes as well. He said collaborative programmes between universities in India and the UK would help create more opportunities for Indian students.
