Selecting large numbers of files from different locations is easy with a transfer queue much like an online shopping cart. Uploading and downloading ("checking out") is just a matter of clicking "Start queued transfers".
The transfer queue also lets you keep track of current transfers. More details in the status bar keep you informed about disk size, percent complete, bytes transferred, transfer speed, and estimated transfer time.
The basic FTP server is ideal for quickly sharing and transferring files like home videos, photo galleries, and backup archives that are too large for email. Again, simplicity makes it usable by even 1st time FTP server operators.
Direct Edit is ideal for web developers to directly open and edit files on FTP servers. Simply open a file as normal, make your edits, save as normal in your editing software (e.g. Photoshop, the GIMP, Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, UltraEdit, Notepad, etc.) and confirm saving it to the server.
More advanced users can directly issue RFC 959 or custom commands.
