IIT JAM

The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) is an all-India entrance test conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis. IIT-JAM is the qualifying examination for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programs at the IITs.

Courses
The main objective of IIT-JAM is to provide admissions to these following courses offered by IITs:

    * 2-years Master of Science (M.Sc.)
    * Master of Science - Ph. D. Dual Degree
    * Master of Technology (M.Tech) at IIT, Roorkee
    * 3-years Interdisciplinary Master of Computer Applications (MCA) at IIT, Roorkee

Eligibility

    * Eligibility conditions for different programmes of IITs are different and thus candidates are advised to go through the detailed eligibility criteria of each programme and each institute.
    * However all candidates must have passed the Bachelor's degree in the subject concerned or related subjects, in which they are seeking admission.
    * JAM qualified candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs:-
    * Candidates must have secured at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries in all years combined) in the qualifying degree.
    * There is a relaxation of 5% of marks in case of SC/ST/PD category candidates.
    * At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form.

Examination Pattern

    * IIT-JAM is a single stage entrance test for admission to various M.Sc and Post-BSc level programmes in IITs.
    * Students seeking admission to a programme have to choose the corresponding Test Paper from the list as given below.

1.      Biotechnology
2.      Chemistry
3.      Computer Applications
4.      Geology
5.      Geophysics
6.      Mathematical Statistics
7.      Mathematics
8.      Physics
