It is being speculated that software giant, Microsoft will bring the next release of its mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5 by May.

More precisely, the next version of mobile operating system will hit market shelves on May 11. The updates have been drawn from Microsoft TechEd 2009.

Microsoft has unveiled 6.5 in February and it got mixed reviews. But, since then the company is tweaking its features and user interface. Microsoft has put emphasis on its user interface and has made it touch friendly with a honeycomb-style main menu.

After the confirmation on date even, the company said that no device will receive official 6.5 updates. Further to that, the first device with Windows Mobile 6.5 preinstalled should be available in the fourth quarter of the year.

Along with this, the updates also indicate that Windows Mobile 7 is expected to be ready sometime next year, possibly in April.
