PG student succumbs

HYDERABAD: A PG student, who attempted suicide by consuming pesticide near her hostel in Koti Women's College on March 21, died while undergoing treatment at NIMS on Friday. She was an M.Sc first-year student.

G. Geetha Rani (22), hailing from Kanapur village in Mahabubnagar district, was found in an unconscious state at the botanical garden on the college premises.

She was immediately shifted to the hospital where she died today. Rani studied in Telugu medium till graduation in Mahabubnagar district. The girl, however, was in a depression after she failed in the semester examination held recently due to problems in understanding English -- the medium of instruction. Unable to endure depression, she took the drastic step, according to the police.
