KVIC training starts on April 20

TIRUCHI: The Dr. J.C. Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology and Development, an institutional training centre of Khadi Village Industries Commission at Gandhiniketan Ashram in T. Kallupatti (Madurai) has invited applications from eligible candidates in the age group of 18 to 45 years with pass in 10th, 8th and 5th standards for skill trainings of varying durations.

The following short-term courses will commence on April 20: five months training in tailoring and embroidery; four months training in cutting & tailoring; two months training in fitter, plumber & pump mechanism, two wheeler mechanism, servicing of refrigerator and A/C mechanism; one month training in screen printing; one week training in cleaning powder making, detergent powder, fruits jam and squash & pickles making, and four-day training in biomanure and vermicompost.

Stipendiary programmes: Six month training in footwear & leather goods manufacturing; three months training in footwear & leather goods making, motor winding, steel fabrication, fancy leather and rexin goods making, welding and grill works; and two months training in toilet and laundry, soap making, hand made paper conversion (note books, file, cover, carry bag etc.), exercise book manufacturing, fancy leather goods making, fruits and vegetable processing, and master potters training; and one month training in motor rewinding.

The trainee should pay registration fee of Rs. 50/- and course fee of Rs. 100/- per month, besides actual boarding charges. Free hostel accommodation will be provided to all candidates. Those admitted will be paid stipend of Rs. 800 to meet their boarding charges, according to a press release issued here by Principal R. Rajendran.

The trainees will be taught management subjects, including marketing, project preparation and Gandhian Thought. Trained candidates will be guided to avail bank finance with Central Government subsidy under Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme to establish their own industries or businesses. Successful candidates will be awarded KVIC certificate.

Aspirants of self-employment, first generation entrepreneurs, self help group members, candidates sponsored by Government departments, NGOs and private organisations can apply for these training programmes.

Application and prospectus can be obtained by remitting Rs. 25/- in person or by sending money order for Rs. 35/- through post. Application can also be downloaded from www.gandhiniketan.org.
