COIMBATORE: Dr. J.C. Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology and Development, T. Kallupatti is offering short-term training programmes from January 21.

The courses include tailoring, electronics and related areas, mechanical courses, rural engineering, detergent powder making, the making of masala, pickles and jam and a variety of similar programmes.

Both male and female candidates between 18 and 45 years of age who have passed Class VIII and X are eligible to apply. For non-stipendiary courses, the age bar is 50. Candidates admitted in stipendiary courses will be paid Rs. 800 per month. Free hostel accommodation will be provided to outstation candidates. Trainees should pay registration fee of Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 per month. Women, candidates from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities and people with disabilities will be exempted from paying course fees.

Successful candidates will be awarded certificates. Those who wish to be self-employed, first generation entrepreneurs, self-help group members, candidates sponsored by Central and State Government Departments and private organisations can join.
