404 new companies registered in Kerala

Kochi,  Eight public sector companies with total authorized capital of Rs 650 lakh and 396 private companies with authorized capital of Rs 7216.5 lakh were registered in Kerala during the period October one to December 31, 2008.

In an official release here today, Registrar of Companies (Ernakulam) S M Ameerul Millath said of this, 30 were big companies with total authorized capital of Rs 50 lakh and above.

During the period, 300 cases were filed for violation of various provisions of the Companies Act, 1956 and an amount of Rs 7,18,100 was imposed as fine by the court against the companies, he said.

As many as 111 companies were struck off, 24 companies changed their names and five companies were converted to public companies.

Three companies were transfered from Kerala to other states and two were shifted from other states to Kerala, he added.
