Jan 13 - Sony faces an operating loss of $1.1 billion this year, a reversal of a previous $2 billion profit forecast, a source told Reuters Tuesday.

The operating loss, which would be Sony's first in 14 years if realized, could be twice as high, depending on inventory in the current quarter, the Nikkei newspaper reported earlier Tuesday, while the company called the loss report speculation ahead of earnings on January 29.
