Rajasthan education team in Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI: A team of educational experts from Rajasthan recently visited various villages where the Continuing Education Programme (CEP) was being implemented. They interacted with the beneficiaries and assessed that the special techniques being adopted for the successful implementation of the CEP in the district.

The District Project Co-ordinator of CEP, V. Ramalingam; the Chief Educational Officer, S. Chellam and the Chief Educational Officer, SSA, Periyasamy, informed the officials that about 2.5 lakh benefited through the CEP in the district in various stages.

Training on the use of library books and reading newspapers formed the main component for the higher level beneficiaries. Apart from imparting literacy, the CEP, in co-ordination with the Mahalir Thittam, had formed as many as 850 self-help groups, ensuring livelihood assistance for the villagers.

The Project Co-ordinator of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation's Village Resource Centre, R. Rajkumar, highlighted the impact of computer literacy on beneficiaries. Led by the Director of Education, Rajasthan, K.C. Agarwal, the team visited Mazhaiyur and Narthamalai. The Additional Director of Education, Rajasthan, Vishram Meena was also present.
