SAT is an abbreviation which is pronounced S-A-T (not "sat") and it stands for Scholastic Aptitude Tests and Scholastic Assessment Tests. The SAT is a standardized test used by US colleges and universities to assess the performance of students who are applying for academic study programs. It is administered and marked by ETS (Educational Testing Service), the world's largest private testing service company. The test measures your ability to understand and process elements of mathematical and verbal reasoning.

The SAT is divided into 10 sections:
3 writing sections - one 25 minute student-written essay, 25 and 10 minute grammar sections

3 math sections — two 25 minute sections and one 20 minute section

3 critical reading sections — two 25 minute sections and one 20 minute section

1 "experimental" section — an additional 25 minute section (unscored)
