VISAKHAPATNAM: An awareness programme on child rights protection is being organised by Bala Vikas Foundation (BVF) from November 19 to 21 as part of the Child Rights Convention celebrations.

Addressing a media conference, BVF founder Narava Prakasa Rao and vice-president Padala Venkateswara Rao said that United Nations Organisation adopted a resolution to protect and uphold the rights of children way back in 1989. The rights include: right to life, right to protection, right to development and right for partnerships.

Though the Government of India was a signatory to the resolution, nothing was being done by the government to safeguard the rights of children.

A seminar on 'stop child abuse' would be organised on November 21 as part of the programme.
