Awards given away for promoting solar lighting

Udupi: Four bank managers, two each from the north and south zones, have bagged the national award for bank managers for promotion and financing solar home lighting systems for 2006-07.

A press release issued by the Bharatiya Vikas Trust here on Sunday stated that the Solar Finance Capacity Building Alliance has instituted the award. Managers A.K. Verma of Prathama Bank at Sarakara Kamal and Rajendra Singh of the same bank at Karanpur have bagged the first and second prize respectively, for the north zone. Both Sarkara Kamal and Karanpur are located in Uttar Pradesh.

Managers S.M. Hegde of Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank at Kundapur and A.N. Giridhar of the same bank at Sullia have bagged the first and second prize respectively for the south zone. Both branches are located in Karnataka.

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 each.
