RBI to organise essay competition for students

The Thiruvananthapuram office of the Reserve Bank of India will organise an essay competition for school students studying in Kerala and Lakshadweep.

The competition was intended to create awareness on ''know your bank notes'' and ''clean note policy'', a release said here today.

The competition was open to students of classes VI to XII, and they were divided into junior (classes VI to VIII), middle (classes IX to X) and senior (classes XI to XII) levels.

The maximum length of essays for junior, middle and senior levels are 1000, 1500 and 2000 words respectively.

The subject for essay for the junior level is ''what do you know about bank notes'', while for the middle level the subject would be ''currency and common man'' and for the senior level ''clean note policy and currency management by the RBI.'' The first, second and third prizes for the junior level are books worth Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively.

For the middle level the prizes are books worth Rs 4000, Rs 2500 and Rs 1500 and for the senior level, books worth Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively.

Besides this, two consolation prizes consisting of books worth Rs 500 would also be given to all the groups, the release added.

Students could submit the essay written in English, Hindi or Malayalam through their schools to the RBI office here on or before November 21.
