TIRUCHI: All India Entrance Examination for admission to VI and IX standards of Sainik School at Amaravathinagar in Udumalpet taluk of Coimbatore district for the academic year 2009-2010 will be held on January 4, 2009.According to a press release, the residential school for boys, a joint venture of the Ministry of Defence and the Governments of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, will admit students aged between 10 and 11 years as on July 2009 (date of birth must be between July 2, 1998, and July 1, 1999) for VI standard, and boys aged between 13 and 14 years as on July 1, 2009 (between July 2, 1995 and July 1, 1996) and studying in VIII standard in a recognised school are eligible for admission to IX standard.

For prospectus and application forms, Rs. 385 should be remitted in case of general / defence categories and Rs. 285 for SC/ST categories through demand draft drawn on State Bank of India, Amaravathinagar (Branch Code 2191) in favour of the Principal, Sainik School, Amaravathi Nagar, along with a self-addressed envelope of size 25 cm x 20 cm, with clear indication of the standard to which admission is sought and the category. Medium of examination should also be indicated for VI standard. The amount is inclusive of registration fee, cost of old question papers, and postal charges.
