DINDIGUL: The disabled including deaf and dumb have got an opportunity to become employable as the district administration has organised two-year diploma in medical laboratory technology at Theni Government Medical College in Andipatti this year. Physically disabled persons, deaf and dumb, aged between 17 and 30 years, who passed higher secondary course, are eligible for this diploma programme, according to Collector R. Vasuki.In a release here on Wednesday, she said the eligible candidates should be able to look after themselves and mobilise from one place to another place independently. More over, they should have the capacity to handle equipment used in diploma course without help from others, she added.

They would be given a stipend of Rs.300 per month and a free bus to go to the college from their residence. Those who wanted to stay in hostel should take care of their boarding and lodging expenses.Interview for selecting eligible candidates for this course would be held at District Rehabilitation Office at the Collectorate in Theni at 10 a.m. on September 26.

All eligible persons in Dindigul district may attend the interview in Theni directly.For further information, candidates may contact District Rehabilitation Officer, Collectroate in Dindigul during working days, she added.She released a vehicle sticker to mark the Anna birth centenary celebrations at the Collectorate. This sticker must be affixed in all vehicles owned by local bodies and all government departments for one year. District Revenue Officer K. Chandrasekaran received it.
