Here's the Asian gaming company that is giving tough competition to behemoths like Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo's Wii transformed the videogame experience for millions of fans across the world.

The maker of the Wii and DS games consoles recently raised its full-year profits and sales forecasts sharply. The revisions continue company's extraordinary run of success and intensify the pressure on rivals Sony and Microsoft.

Nintendo said that it expected to make $6bn in operating profits this year, 23 per cent higher than the previous year, compared with its original prediction of 9 per cent growth.

Strong sales outside Japan, notably in European markets, and the weakness of the yen has helped Nintendo.
