Students Demand a Building for Government College

Members of the district units of the All-India Democratic Students' Organisation , the All-India Democratic Youth Organisation and the All-India Mahila Samskritika Sanghatane staged a dharna here on Wednesday demanding that the Government construct a building for the Government Degree College, complete pending work on the Government Girls Pre-University College and establish a degree college for girls in Raichur.

Students of the Government Degree College and the Government Polytechnic, who boycotted classes, went in a procession from the polytechnic to the Deputy Commissioner's office. In the memorandum, they said the Government should not implement the recommendations of the Rashtriya Gnana Ayoga as it would affect the interests of students.

Girls' hostel demanded
They demanded that the Government provide basic facilities and recruit teachers at the Government Degree College, the Government Girls Pre-University College and the Government Polytechnic and take steps for construction of a hostel for girls studying in technical courses in the district
