EDUCATION OF THE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Time : Three hours Maximum : 100 marks
SECTION A — (5 x 8 = 40 marks)

Answer any FIVE questions each in about 200 words.
All questions carry equal marks.

1. Compare and contrast culturally and socially disadvantaged children.

2. Who according to you are disadvantaged children?

3. How can you identify visually handicapped?

4. Explain the personality characteristics of creative children.

5. What are the major causes of hearing impaired children?

6. Certain provisions are available to improve the area of speech production among the children possessing speech impairment – Enunciate.

7. Discuss the ways for identifying mentally retarded children and explain the methods of educating them.

8. Elaborate the instructional materials helpful to promote education among the visually challenged children.

SECTION B — (4 × 15 = 60 marks)
Answer any FOUR questions each in about 400 words.

9. Critically evaluate the educational provisions for the physically challenged.

10. Explain the role of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (AIISH) in promoting education among hearing impaired.

11. Who are gifted children? Explain the characteristic features, needs and educational provisions for gifted children.

12. Explain the types of visual impairment and methods of educating them.

13. Discuss speech impairment along with the educational provisions available to enhance their learning.

14. "Culturally disadvantaged finds it difficult to sustain a healthy life in the society."-Justify.

15. Elucidate the role of parents and teachers for the rehabilitation of physically challenged children.
