RESEARCH METHODS

Time : Three hours Maximum : 100 marks
PART A — (5 × 8 = 40 marks)

Answer any FIVE of the following in about 150 words each.
1. Write a note on sources of historical research.

2. Enumerate the types of true experimental research design. Illustrate with examples.

3. Define hypothesis. As a researcher, can you explain the hypothesis testing?

4. Illustrate the probability sampling technique with an example.

6. Give an account on scaling technique.

7. Write the differences between the following :
 (a) Interview schedule and questionnaire
 (b) Review of related studies and review of related literature.

8. Bring out the advantages and disadvantages of pre-testing in research.

PART B — (4 × 15 = 60 marks)
Answer any FOUR questions.

9. Give an account on types of research with an example.

10. What do you meant by scientific method? Explain about inductive and deductive reasoning.

11. Describe the meaning, nature, principle and process of survey research.

12. Elucidate the meaning, importance, types, limitations and delimitations of interview method.

13. ''Research reporting is an art'' – Critically analyse.

14. Give an account on factors affecting research design.

15. How did you process and analyse the collected data?
