The Population Council's Social Science Fellowship Program offers the fellowship to the scholars for pursuing their research in various areas of social science. The programs include devising of measures to alleviate poverty, improving the health and hygiene of the people, aware the people of developing countries about reproductive health, analysis of the population explosion along with its effect on the social, economic and political scenario. The fellowships are granted to scholars who have a burning zeal to study the relationship between social, economic, demographic scenario and devise ways and means to improve the condition of the people in the developing countries.
The core subjects of Population Council's Social Science Fellowship Program:
Economics, Geography, Anthropology, Sociology, Demography are the subjects upon which the research is centered around.

Eligibility for Population Council's Social Science Fellowship Program :
Doctoral students, post doctoral candidates and professors are eligible to apply for the Population Council's Social Science Fellowship Program. The fellowship is specially given to candidates from developing countries who can render service in their own country after completing the studies.

The fellowship offers tuition fees, insurance for health ,travel expenditure and lucrative stipends.

Selection Procedure of The Population Council's Social Science Fellowship Program :
Selection is made on the basis of sound academic records, laudable endeavor in research on population and social science, vision for research in the field of population and social science. The recommendations by the special jury of 3 erudite scholars play a pivotal role in the selection of the candidate.

Duration of the fellowship:
The time span is of 2 years. The applicants are selected for training in 4 programs, the first 3 programs are conducted at the institutions which offers the degree and the last program is carried out by the Population Council.
