Loyola plans to adopt Nungambakkam railway station

Loyola College has decided to adopt and make Nungambakkam railway station a model facility with CCTV cameras and state-of-theart amenities.
Vice-principal and secretary-cum-treasurer of the college, Rev Thomas Amirtham SJ, told TOI, "Though this was planned much before, after the murder of S Swathi it has become a priority for us to reach out. It is better late than never."

Thomas said students and the college alumni will meet soon to discuss the issue and hold talks with railway authorities and the police to take the plan ahead. "We are mulling to install CCTV cameras, provide basic amenities and ensure cleanliness. Our students will be on call at the railway station and provide security in coordination with the police till 7pm," he said.

Thomas said the student community of the college, which adjoins the Nungambakkam station, was shocked at the brutal murder. "Many of our students use the station to commute to college and we feel it is our social responsibility to reach out and help to prevent further incidents like this," he said.

Karthikeyan Murugan, an alumni member of the college, said, "We are all saddened and shocked at the incident. We will meet soon and discuss how to make the station a safer place.We will seek help from the police and railways and make this plan a reality."

Indian Railways already has a policy that encourages citizen groups, NGOs and educational institutions to adopt a railway station and provide facilities. In the Chennai division, many stations have benefactors. A UAEreturnee, Rajesh Kanna, has earned accolades for cleaning Urapakkam station regularly and placing flower pots. Paranur station has been adopted by Mahindra Tech City .

Swathi's murderer arrested in Tirunelveli

The accused has identified as Ramkumar from Sengottai from Tirunelveli. While the police forces cornered him through the track of mobile, later he tried to suicide by cutting his neck with blade. Immediately he took to Tirunelveli hospital and the treatment is going on. The victim finally accepted of murder her with conscious mind. More information yet to come, but sources said due to love war this might happened.

The suspected assailant who killed Infosys employee S. Swathi at the Nungambakkam Railway Station in Chennai on June 24 has been arrested in Tirunelveli late on Friday night.

A couple of Swathi's friends told the investigators that she was aware that she was being stalked by the suspect, who finally killed her.
On Friday last, Swathi was waiting at platform number 2 of the railway station to board a train to work.

Sources at the railway station said a man approached her as she was waiting, and soon, an argument broke out between them. Subsequently he took out a sharp weapon and hacked her to death.

"மத்த கோர்ஸில் கூட இடம் இருக்குது. ஆனா நீங்க செலக்ட் பண்ணிருக்க கோர்ஸ்ல ரெண்டு மூணு சீட்தான் இருக்குது" என ஆரம்பித்து, முன் இரு இடங்களில் சொல்லப்பட்ட அதே 1750 ரூபாயில் வந்து நிறுத்தினார்.

நாமும் பணம் இல்லை என்ற அதே டயலாக்கை சொன்னோம். " இன்னைக்கு நீங்க 1750 ரூபாய் கட்டி ரெஜிஸ்டர் பண்ணிட்டு வெள்ளிக்கிழமைக்குள்ள பீஸ் பணம் 52,750 ரூபாயை கட்டிட்டா உங்களுக்கு ஒரு டேப்லெட் ஃப்ரீ. இது இந்த கோர்ஸுக்கு மட்டும்தான். அதுவும் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை வரைக்கும்தான்" என ஸ்பாட் ஆஃபர் ஒன்றைச் சொன்னார். நாம் சமாளித்தோம். அதற்கு அவர், "சரி.. காலேஜை சுத்திப்பாத்துட்டு போயிருங்க" என்று ஒருவரோடு அனுப்பி வைத்தார். "இதுதான் பார்.. இதுதான் ரூம் சர்வீஸ், இதுதான் கிச்சன்.. கிளாஸ் ரூம் ஃபுல்லா ஏ.சி..." என ஒவ்வொரு டிப்பார்ட்மெண்டாக காட்டி விவரித்துக்கொண்டே போனார். 'விளம்பரத்தில் வருவது மாதிரியே இருக்கிறதே...' என சந்தோஷப்படும் நேரத்தில் காத்திருந்தது ஷாக்..

கிச்சனை காட்டிவிட்டு அடுத்த அறைக்கு சென்றுவிட்டார். அதற்குள் இருந்த முப்பதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்கள், 'சேர்ந்துடாத... சேர்ந்துடாத..." என கையை ஆட்டினார்கள்.

விகடன் நிருபராக, மாணவர்கள் சொன்னவற்றைச் சொல்லி, ஓ.எம்.ஆர் கிளையின் சீனியர் வைஸ் பிரின்சிபல் ஆண்டனியிடம் விளக்கம் கேட்டோம்.


"மாணவர்கள் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளை சொல்ல டோல் ஃப்ரீ நம்பர் இருக்கிறது. அதற்கென்றே ஒரு துறை வைத்திருக்கிறோம். அதில் அவர்களது குற்றச்சாட்டுகளை சொன்னால் 24 மணி நேரத்தில் தீர்த்து வைத்துவிடுவோம். வேலை கிடைக்கவில்லை என்று சொல்வதெல்லாம் சுத்தப் பொய். எங்க கிளையில் மட்டும் 1300 அப்பாயின்ட்மென்ட் வாங்கி கொடுத்திருக்கிறோம். மொத்தமாக 2396 பேருக்கு வேலை வாங்கிக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறோம். ஆஃபர் லெட்டர்ஸ்... டாக்குமெண்ட்ஸ். எல்லாமே பக்காவாக இருக்கிறது. இப்பக் கூட இங்க படிச்ச ஒரு பையனை அழைச்சிக்கிட்டு வாங்க 2 நிமிஷத்துல என்னால வேலை வாங்கி கொடுக்க முடியும்" என்கிறார்.

எங்கு திரும்பினாலும் 'Dக்கு முன்னால E என்ற' சென்னைஸ் அமிர்தாவின் விளம்பரங்கள் அணிவகுக்கின்றன. 'வாங்க.. வாங்க.. எங்கிருந்து வர்றீங்க.?'

'சார் தஞ்சாவூரிலிருந்து வர்றோம் சார்...'

'ஓ.. அப்படியா? நானும் அந்த ஊருதாங்க... என்ன படிச்சிருக்கீங்க?'

'சார் பத்தாவது முடிச்சிட்டு ஒரு வருஷம் சென்னைல சி.என்.சி ஓட்டிக்கிட்டு இருந்தேன். உங்க விளம்பரத்தை பார்த்ததும் இங்க சேரலாம்னு தோணுச்சி சார்.'

'டைரக்ட்டா விளம்பரத்த பார்த்து வந்தீங்களா... இல்ல அதுல உள்ள நம்பருக்கு கால் பண்ணீங்களா.?
'இல்ல சார், நேரா இங்க வந்துட்டோம்.'

'நல்ல வேளை அந்த நம்பருக்கு கால் பண்ணியிருந்தா உங்ககிட்ட 300 ரூபாய் எக்ஸ்ட்ரா வாங்கியிருப்பாங்க. நம்ம ஊருக்காரரா வேற போயிட்டீங்க. நான் உங்களுக்கு ஃபுல் சப்போர்ட் பண்றேன். என் பேரு திலக். யாரு கேட்டாலும் திலக் சார் ரெஃபரன்ஸ்னு சொல்லுங்க என்ன...?

'ம்ம்ம். ஓ.கே சார்.. சார் இங்க படிச்சா வேலை கிடைக்குமா...? வீட்ல ரொம்பக் கஷ்டம் சார்...'

'கண்டிப்பா கிடைக்கும். உங்களுக்கு 3 மணி நேரம்தான் கிளாஸ். மத்த நேரத்துல நீங்க பாக்குற வேலையக் கூட பார்ட்டைமா பாத்துக்கலாம். அதுக்கு நான் ஏற்பாடு பண்றேன்' என்றவாறு கோர்ஸ் டீட்டெய்ல்களையும் ஃபீஸ் டீட்டெய்ல்களையும் விளக்க ஆரம்பித்தார். அந்த உரையாடல் முடிந்ததும்... 'சார்.. காலேஜை பாக்கலாமா சார்?' என்றோம். 'ஓ... தாராளமாக வாங்க பாக்கலாம்!' என்று உள்ளே அழைத்தார். பின் தொடர்ந்தோம்.

'இங்க பாருங்க... இதுதான் க்ளாஸ் ரூம்' என்று ஒரு கண்ணாடி அறையை காட்டினார். உள்ளே ஏறக்குறைய 20 டெஸ்க்குகள் இருந்தன. 'ஃபுல்லா ஏ.சி. க்ளாஸ் முடிஞ்சதால ஆஃப் பண்ணி வச்சிருக்கோம்' என்றபடியே ஹவுஸ் கீப்பிங் அறைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றார். ஒரே ஒரு பெட் இருந்தது. 'இங்கதான் உங்களுக்கு டவல் ஃபோல்டிங் எப்டி பண்றது? எப்படி பெட்ஷீட் செட் பண்றதுன்னு கத்துக் கொடுப்போம்' என்றார். விளம்பரத்தில் வரும் உலகத்தரத்தை விடுங்கள், உள்ளூர் தரத்தையே உணரமுடியவில்லை. 'மேலதான் கிச்சன்லாம் இருக்கு. ஆனா, இப்ப அங்க போக முடியாது. லாக் பண்ணி வச்சிருக்காங்க'

'ஓ.... ஓ.கே சார்'

'எப்ப அட்மிஷன் போடுறீங்க.?'

'எந்த கோர்ஸ்னு டிஸ்கஸ் பண்ணிட்டு வந்து, அட்மிஷன் போட்டுடுறோம் சார்'

'சரி ஓ.கே. இப்ப 1750 ரூபாய் கட்டி ரெஜிஸ்டர் பண்ணிருங்க இல்லன்னா சீட் கிடைக்காது. கொஞ்ச இடம்தான் இருக்கு.'
சார், பணம் எடுத்துட்டு வரல சார். இப்ப ஜஸ்ட் விசாரிக்கலாம்னுதான் வந்தோம். ஃப்ரெண்ட் பக்கத்துலதான் இருக்கான். பணம் வாங்கிகிட்டு ஈவ்னிங்குக்குள்ள வந்து கட்டிடுறோம் சார்'

'ஓ... அப்படியா சீக்கிரம் வந்துருங்க. வந்துட்டு என் நம்பருக்கு கால் பண்ணுங்க. உங்க நம்பரையும் கொடுங்க, நான் கால் பண்றேன்' என்றார். நம்பரை கொடுத்துவிட்டு வெளியேறினோம்.

வெளியில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்த மாணவர்கள் நம்மை பாவமாக பார்த்தபடி இருக்க, ஒருவர் வந்து,  "இங்கயெல்லாம் வந்துடாதீங்க. +2 படிங்க. ஹோட்டல் மேனேஜ்மென்ட் படிக்கணும்னு விருப்பப்பட்டா வேற காலேஜுக்குப் போங்க. இங்க ஒண்ணுமே சரி இல்ல. பார்ட் டைம் ஜாப்னு சொல்லுவாங்க. 12 மணி நேரம் வேலை பாக்கணும். 3 மணி நேரம் கூட தூங்க முடியாது. 3 வருஷம் கழிச்சித்தான் 10 ஆயிரம் சம்பளம் வாங்க முடியும். எனக்கு சொந்த ஊரு திருநெல்வேலி. என்ஜினியரிங் படிச்சிகிட்டு இருந்தேன். விளம்பரத்தை பாத்துட்டு. படிச்சிகிட்டு இருந்த என்ஜினியரிங்கை டிஸ் கண்டினியூ பண்ணிட்டு இங்க வந்தேன். விளம்பரத்துல வர்றதெல்லாம் உண்மை இல்லை. நான் இங்க வரும்போது 60 பேர் படிச்சாங்க. இப்ப இருக்குறது வெறும் 25 பேர். அதெல்லாம் விளம்பரத்துல காட்டுறாங்களா? முக்கால்வாசி பேர் பாதியிலேயே ஓடிடுறாங்க. நான் ஏற்கவே என்ஜினியரிங்கை டிஸ்கன்டினியூ பண்ணிட்டேன். இதுலயும் பாதியிலேயே போனா... வீட்ல சங்குதான். வேற வழி இல்லாம இங்க படிக்கிறேன்" என்றார் சோகமாக. அவர் அருகில் இருந்த மாணவர்களும், "இந்த ஃபீல்டுல நல்லா சம்பாதிக்கலாம். ஆனா, இந்த காலேஜ் வேணாம் பாஸ்" என்றார்கள். 'யோசிக்கிறேன்' என்று கைகொடுத்துவிட்டு கிளம்பினோம்.



அடுத்து சென்றது நந்தனத்தில் இருக்கும் சென்னைஸ் அமிர்தாவின் தலைமை அலுவலகம். உள்ளே செல்வதற்கு முன் கேட்டில் என்ட்ரி போட சொன்னார்கள். போட்டுவிட்டு உள்ளே நுழைந்தோம். விளம்பரத்தில் வருவது போலவே ஹைட்டெக்காக இன்ட்டீரியர் டிசைன் செய்து வைத்திருந்தார்கள். எல்.சி.டி டிவியில் நாலாபுறமும் அமிர்தா விளம்பரம் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருந்து. அழகழகான பெண் வரவேற்பாளர்களை நிறுத்தியிருந்தார்கள். தனித்தனி அறையில் சேர்க்கை நடந்து கொண்டிருந்தது. கிராமப்புறத்திலிருந்து ஏராளமான பெற்றோர்கள் பிள்ளைகளோடு வந்து காத்திருந்தார்கள். ஒரு ஃபார்ம் கொடுத்து பூர்த்தி செய்யச் சொன்னார்கள். கொஞ்ச நேரத்தில் உள்ளே அழைத்தார்கள்.

'எங்கிருந்து வந்திருக்கீங்க' என்று ஆரம்பித்தார் உள்ளே இருந்த பெண்.

'தஞ்சாவூரிலிருந்து வர்றோம் மேடம்'

'நானும் உங்களுக்கு பக்கத்து ஊருதான். எப்டி இங்க வந்தீங்க.?'

'விளம்பரத்த பாத்துதான் மேடம் வந்தோம்'

'என்ன படிச்சிருக்கீங்க.?'
