OnePlus Ace Race Edition Could Launch As OnePlus Nord 3 In India; When Is It Coming?OnePlus is most likely to launch the Nord 2T 5G on May 19 in India. Apart from this, the brand has another model waiting to be launched and it is likely to be the Nord 3. Earlier this month, tipster Mukul Sharma also spotted the OnePlus Nord 3 on the official OnePlus India website, hinting at an imminent launch in the Indian market.
As of now, OnePlus has not confirmed anything regarding the upcoming Nord 3. However, multiple reports have given us an idea of what to expect from the same. Going by this, it seems the recently leaked OnePlus Ace Race Edition is likely to launch in India as OnePlus Nord 3. The OnePlus Ace Race Edition is confirmed to unveil on May 17 in China.
Going by the leaked info, the Nord 3 will come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device will run the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max chipset paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. For imaging, the device will have a triple-camera setup housing a 64MP primary shooter. An 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. There will be a 4,900 mAh battery that will support 65W fast charging tech. It will also include an under-display fingerprint sensor and run Android 12 out-of-the-box.
OnePlus is selling its Nord series and high-end numbered series in the country. There is a chance the brand might launch the new Ace Race Edition in only select markets like its home country. Given that OnePlus already launched the Dimensity 8100 Max-powered OnePlus 10R phone in India, the company might introduce another Dimensity 8100 Max powered phone in the Nord series.
So, the brand might launch the Ace Race Edition phone as the Nord 3 with a slight tweak. Rumors suggested that the OnePlus Nord 3 will go official by July in India while the exact launch timeline is yet to be revealed. Also, we suggest our readers take this piece of info with a pinch of salt as we don't have any confirmation from the brand.

Oppo Reno 8 Looks Like A Mini Samsung Galaxy S21 UltraA possible render of the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 has been leaked online by Digital Chat Station. The Oppo Reno 8 is an upcoming mid-range smartphone with a premium design, and the leaked render suggests that the design of the Oppo Reno 8 seems to be inspired by the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
In terms of design, the Oppo Reno 8 seems to have a flat metal frame, similar to the iPhone 13. The back panel of the smartphone is likely to be made using glass, which should add a sense of premium-ness to the smartphone. The volume buttons are on the right side, hence, we expect that the power button will be on the left side.
According to the leaked image of the Oppo Reno 8, the smartphone has a huge camera bump at the back with a triple camera setup. The device is likely to offer a 64MP primary sensor, an ultra-wide angle lens, and then a depth or a microlens. The Oppo Reno 8 is said to be powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Max SoC and is likely to offer up to 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Hence, in terms of performance, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is expected to be as powerful as the OnePlus 10R or even the Realme GT Neo 3.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung's flagship smartphone from 2021 with a large camera bump, and the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 seems to have a similar camera bump with just three cameras. The one major noticeable difference between the two devices is the frame. The Galaxy S21 Ultra has a curved frame, while the Oppo Reno 8 has a flat frame. Given we finally have the first render of the Oppo Reno 8, the company is expected to launch the same in markets like India and China in the next few weeks. Given the choice of processor and the positioning of the Reno series in India, the Oppo Reno 8 is expected to cost around Rs. 40,000 in India and is likely to compete against the likes of the OnePlus 10R and the Realme GT Neo 3.Source: https://www.gizbot.com/mobile/news/oppo-reno-8-renders-leak-features-specifications-design-080641.html

Realme GT Neo 3 Review- 150W Fast-Charging & Smooth PerformanceFast-Charging is the current hot trend in the Indian smartphone market. Handset manufacturers have shifted all their efforts on speeding up charging speeds after experimenting with large battery sizes to eliminate battery woes. Some brands have achieved unprecedented charging speeds of up to 240W that can refuel a standard size- 4,500mAh battery cell in about nine minutes. Would you have believed in such crazy fast-charging speeds three or four years ago?
Fastest Fast-Charging On A Smartphone
Effective Heat Dissipation
Only 2-Years Software Upgrade Promise
Average Wide-Angle Camera Performance
Still Stuck With Dated 2MP Macro Sensor
No IP Ratings
While this particular setup might still take a year or two to reach the mass market, some comparable commercial fast-charging solutions are already available in the market. We are testing one such handset in the following review. The Realme GT Neo 3 is a value-flagship offering with a claimed tag of 'World's Fastest Fast-Charging Smartphone'.
It features a 150W fast-charging solution that promises to refuel the device's 4,500mAh battery to 50% in just 5 minutes. Besides such a crazy fast-charging setup, it is also one of India's first smartphones to be equipped with a Dimensity 8100 5G processor. You will find this new chipset supplying power to the OnePlus 10R, which shares its spec sheet with the Realme GT Neo 3 but runs a different user interface and flaunts a slightly different design.
During this review, we'll try to answer some important questions such as how much time you can save with a fast-charging system like the 150W and does it makes sense to invest some extra thousand for such crazy charging speeds? Let's find out.
Answering the big question-it took the bundled charger just 17 minutes to refuel the battery from flat to 100%. The hefty brick took just six minutes to recharge the dead battery to 50%. The closest competitor is the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge with its 120W fast-charging solution, which despite lower fast-charging delivers very similar results.
The Xiaomi handset took 20 minutes with its 120W fast-charge technology, which is not much of ae difference in the real-life but means a lot in the fast-charging tech domain. As fast as the battery life is concerned, the 4,500mAh battery lasted for a day with a moderate usage in our testing and needs a refueling on the same day if you are a power user. I would recommend the 80W variant of the Realme GT Neo 3 to power users as it comes equipped with a 5,000mAh battery cell that should offer longer battery life with a similar usage type.
Our review unit arrived with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The handset is running on the Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12 and is powered by the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset. The new MediaTek processor is theoretically comparable to the powerful Snapdragon 888, which we had tested on devices like the OnePlus 9RT, Vivo X60 Pro+, OnePlus 9 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, etc. The MediaTek chipset uses Mali-G610 GPU to handle graphics-intensive tasks.
The powerful hardware and the latest software ensured smooth performance all day long. The phone handles multitasking and intense gaming without breaking a sweat; however, some of the most popular games don't run at maximum settings. It's not the CPU+GPU fault as demanding games like Genshin Impact sailed smoothly even at higher settings.
This isn't surprising as the MediaTek 8100 is a fairly new CPU and the developers will take some time to optimize games for the new hardware. As far as day-to-day phone tasks such as dialler, WhatsApp, camera usage, app loading & switching, and UI navigation are concerned, the Realme GT Neo 3 feels as fast as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered handset.
Most important, the Realme GT Neo 3 is quite good at managing heat signatures. The core temperature never spiked to alarming levels, something we experienced on recent premium Android flagships running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
Either the CPU is better optimized, or the phone's built-in vapor cooling chamber is extremely efficient at dissipating the heat. Whatever the reason is, the Realme GT Neo 3 runs cooler than most 2022 flagship smartphones, which gives you more headroom for intense gaming, camera usage, and multitasking. Moving on, the handset also offers a blazing fast in-screen fingerprint scanner and solid connectivity performance with Bluetooth, 4G LTE, and Wi-Fi.
Like most value flagships and premium handsets in 2022, the Realme GT Neo 3 is also a very good handset for video streaming and enjoying games. This is made possible by a 6.7-inch flat FHD+ AMOLED panel with an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 94.2%. The sleek bezels ensure an immersive viewing experience, which is further complemented by a peak brightness of 1000nits and vivid color reproduction, thanks to a 10-bit panel offering 1.07 billion colors with a color accuracy rating- of JNCD ≈ 0.4. These figures ensure impressive video playback and gaming experience in most lighting situations. Add to this a pair of loud-sounding speakers that compensates for the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack to a good extent. Overall, if you spend a good time watching movies and playing games on your handset, the GT Neo 3 won't let you down.

Google Pixel 7 Pro Leaked Case Renders Shed Light On DesignGoogle is expected to take the wraps off the Pixel 7 series smartphones sometime in the second half of this year. Already, we have been coming across numerous leaks and reports revealing what we can expect from the upcoming smartphones. Now, the leaked case renders of the alleged Google Pixel 7 Pro have thrown light on what we can expect in terms of its design.
As per a report by TechGoing, the leaked renders of the upcoming flagship smartphone from Google show that the device is likely to bring a redesigned camera module. While the announcement of the device is awaited, the back case of the leaked renders seems to match the CAD renders of the smartphone leaked earlier.
Furthermore, the renders are almost identical to those of the Pixel 6 Pro that was launched last year. It appears to flaunt slim bezels and a horizontal bar at the rear to provide room for the camera sensors and LED flash unit. The newly leaked case shows a similar design. However, there are increased chances for the next-gen Google Pixel smartphone to not make its way into the Indian market just like the Pixel 6.
When it comes to the leaked back case of the Google Pixel 7 Pro, the device appears to have a familiar front and rear design. The power and volume rocker are at the right and the bottom houses a USB Type-C port and speaker grills. The overall design appears to have narrow bezels and slightly curved edges.
The horizontal module at the back appears to flaunt two regular-sized lenses within a single housing and another lens that is separate. There is an LED flash and a secondary microphone for noise cancellation. It also seems to have a premium build quality as its predecessor.
As per reports, the Google Pixel 7 Pro is rumored to arrive with a 6.7-inch or 6.8-inch curved OLED LTPO QHD+ display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is likely to get the power from the second-generation Google Tensor chipset and teamed up with a maximum of 512GB of internal storage. Furthermore, recent speculations have pointed out that the Google Pixel 7 series is expected to arrive in Stormy Black, Kinda Coral, Sorta SeaFoam, and Cloudy White colors. The camera and battery specs of these smartphones are yet to be revealed.

Despite being a downgraded version, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G could be a better smartphone than the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G in some aspects.

Considering the fact that the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G will be a lot cheaper than the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, the device is expected to attract users who have been looking for a OnePlus smartphone under Rs. 20,000 price mark.

OnePlus 10 Specifications Leaked: Fast Charging And Smaller Battery Than OnePlus 10 ProOnePlus 10 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging via the USB Type-C. While the OnePlus 10 Pro is currently the fast charging smartphone, the upcoming OnePlus 10R will soon dethrone the same with its 150W fast charging support.
According to a report from Digit, OnePlus is also working on another upper mid-range device known as the OnePlus 10. This is likely to sit between the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 10R. The device is said to be in the testing phase and might launch in the second half of 2022.
OnePlus 10 Specifications
As per the same report, the company is currently testing the OnePlus 10 with Qualcomm's chip and a Mediatek's chip. Hence, the OnePlus 10 is likely to be based on either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Mediatek Dimensity 9000 SoC. Given the upcoming OnePlus 10R is based on the Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Max SoC, and the OnePlus 10 Pro is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, it is currently unclear if OnePlus will lean towards Mediatek or will stick on to the Qualcomm chipset, just like the Pro model.
OnePlus 10 is said to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. This is likely to be an LTPO 2.0 display, which should offer a variable refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. The device is said to offer 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage with no microSD card slot.
The triple camera setup on the OnePlus 10 is said to have a 50MP primary wide-angle sensor, 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth monochrome sensor. There will be a single 32MP selfie camera at the front, which is said to be an upgrade over the 16MP selfie camera on the OnePlus 9. A 4,800 mAh battery will fuel the OnePlus 10 with support for 150W fast charging support, which is almost twice as fast as the 80W fast charging on the OnePlus 10 Pro. However, the vanilla OnePlus 10 might not support wireless charging. Another worth-mention omission from the OnePlus 10 is said to be the alert slider, which is a bummer.
Is This An Upgrade Over The OnePlus 9?
As per the leak, the OnePlus 10 does look like a solid upgrade over the OnePlus 9. However, given the OnePlus 10R's launch is just around the corner, the positioning of the OnePlus 10 might feel a bit confusing, as the OnePlus 10R's are almost similar to the OnePlus 10.

Nepalese PM Deuba to meet Modi today; to jointly inaugurate railway service between India-NepalNepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is on a three-day visit to India, will hold wide-ranging talks with Indian PM Narendra Modi on Saturday. That is expected to inject fresh momentum into bilateral ties.
Deuba will meet Modi in Hyderabad House, New Delhi at 11:10 AM. They will jointly inaugurate India-Nepal rail service through videoconferencing. The Jaynagar-Kurtha section is part of the 68.7km Jaynagar-Bijalpura-Bardidas rail link built under the Government of India's grant assistance of NPR 8.77 billion. The new infrastructure was built for broad gauge railway operation by replacing the narrow gauge, which was stopped more than seven years ago. Nepal Railway Company has made all necessary preparations for the inaugural ceremony, according to officials.
It is Deuba's first bilateral visit abroad after becoming prime minister in July last year for a fifth time following a spell of political turmoil in Kathmandu. Deuba had visited India in each of his four earlier stints as prime minister of Nepal. His last visit to India in his capacity as the prime minister was in 2017. Nepal is important for India in the context of its overall strategic interests in the region, and the leaders of the two countries have often noted the age-old "Roti Beti" relationship.
The country shares a border of over 1,850 km with five Indian states -- Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Land-locked Nepal relies heavily on India for the transportation of goods and services. Nepal's access to the sea is through India, and it imports a predominant proportion of its requirements from and through India. The India-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1950 forms the bedrock of the special relations between the two countries. "The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to the two sides to review this wide-ranging cooperative partnership and to progress it further for the benefit of the two peoples," the MEA said on Monday.
Besides official engagements in New Delhi, the prime minister of Nepal will visit Varanasi.

40,000 tonnes of diesel from India reaches crisis hit Sri LankaA ship carrying 40,000 tonnes of diesel has reached Sri Lanka. The diesel was supplied under a $1 billion credit line given to the economically hit nation by India. The fuel will be distributed across Sri Lanka by this evening reports say. The island nation is witnessing one of its worst crisis in years which was sparked by an acute lack of foreign currency to even pay for most essential imports.
Diesel was unavailable at stations across the country. The owners of private buses say that even a skeleton service will not be possible after today. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared a public emergency amidst a spate of protests over the worst economic crisis in the country. Rajapaksa issued a special gazette notification on Friday, declaring a public emergency in Sri Lanka with effect from April 1.
On the President's command, Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath issued the Extraordinary Gazette Notification. The move came after a violent protest erupted outside the residence of Rajapaksa on Thursday as hundreds of demonstrators gathered there and demanded his resignation for what they called his failure in addressing the worst economic crisis in the island nation. Several people were injured and vehicles were set on fire as the agitation turned violent. Police fired tear gas and water cannons at the protesters after they pulled down a steel barricade placed near the president's residence. Following the incident, several people were arrested and a curfew briefly imposed in most parts of Colombo city.
A foreign exchange crunch in Sri Lanka has led to a shortage of essential goods such as fuel and cooking gas. Power cuts that last up to 13 hours a day. A statement issued by the presidential media division on Friday said an extremist group was behind the unrest near President Rajapaksa's residence in Mirihana. Meanwhile, the police said the number of people arrested in the aftermath of the violence has risen to 54.
Lawyers linked to opposition parties claimed that the police might charge those arrested under the draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). Five policemen were injured, while a police bus, a jeep and two motorcycles were burnt as protesters turned violent. The demonstrators also caused damage to a police water cannon truck. Sri Lanka is currently experiencing its worst economic crisis in history. With long lines for fuel, cooking gas, essentials in short supply and long hours of power cuts the public has been suffering for weeks. Rajapaksa has defended his government's actions, saying the foreign exchange crisis was not his making and the economic downturn was largely pandemic driven where the island's tourism revenue and inward remittances waning.Source: https://www.oneindia.com/india/40000-tonnes-of-diesel-from-india-reaches-crisis-hit-sri-lanka-3390928.html

Rumors of the Oppo K10 have been around for a while now. The alleged smartphone was spotted on the Chinese 3C certification with the model number PGIM10. The device also appeared with the charge that packed the model number VCB8JACH, which confirms 80W fast charging support or Oppo's SuperVOOC support.
From the looks of it, the upcoming Oppo K10 will be a premium mid-range smartphone. The 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support is going to be its key highlight along with powerful cameras and an immersive display. The Oppo K10 will likely be limited to the Chinese market but will be rebranded before arriving in the global markets.
The Oppo K10 is said to pack the Dimensity 8000 chipset. This would make the upcoming Oppo smartphone one of the first few devices to ship with the Dimensity 8000 processor. So far, the upcoming Oppo K10 was suspected to include either the Dimensity 8000 or the Dimensity 8100 chipset. A new leak by a tipster suggests the phone will get the Dimensity 8000 chipset, which brings in a slightly lower GPU performance when compared to the Dimensity 8100 chipset. Upcoming iPhone SE 3 Might Cost Around Rs. 20,000: Will You Buy?As per the leaks and speculations, Apple is likely to announce the next-generation iPad Air and the iPhone SE 3 on March 8. While the iPad Air 5th Gen is expected to look similar to the iPad Air 4th Gen, the iPhone SE 3 is expected to bring in some major changes in terms of both design and performance.
According to the market analyst John Donovan, the base model of the iPhone SE 3 is expected to cost $299, which will make it the most affordable 5G capable smartphone. Considering Apple's strategy for India, the iPhone SE 3 might cost around Rs. 20,000, which will make it one of the most affordable modern iPhones.
While some reports suggest that the iPhone SE 3 might look similar to the iPhone SE 2, some reports suggest otherwise. As per the rest of the reports, the iPhone SE 3 could be the repurposed iPhone XR with the new Apple A15 Bionic SoC along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The iPhone SE 3 will have a 12MP primary camera and is expected to carry an upgraded 12MP selfie camera with support for 4K video recording on both cameras. Besides, if the iPhone SE 3 comes in the iPhone XR format, the device will also have a Face ID setup.
As per the analyst, the base model of the iPhone SE 3, possibly with 64GB internal storage is expected to cost $299 or approx Rs. 22,563. Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone SE 3 with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of internal storage.
Although, even at around Rs. 25,000 price point, the iPhone SE 3 might not be the most affordable 5G smartphone in the country, it will be the most affordable 5G iPhone. This price point is also expected to help Apple to lure in more consumers who are on a budget and looking for an affordable iPhone with 5G support.

Mediatek Dimensity 9000 Bosses Over Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 On AnTuTu; Check Benchmark ScoresFor the first time ever, Mediatek has made a chip that has outperformed Qualcomm's flagship offering. The Mediatek Dimensity 9000 has outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Though both processors are fabbed on 4nm lithography, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is made by Samsung, while the Dimensity 9000 comes from TSMC.
The Mediatek Dimensity 9000 SoC scored 1072221 points on Antutu, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC scored 1025215 points. The Mediatek Dimensity 9000 has an upper hand in terms of CPU, memory, and UX performance, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 outperforms Dimensity 9000 in GPU or graphics performance.
Do note that, both phones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Mediatek Dimensity 9000 feature LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. While the Mediatek processor is featured on an upcoming Vivo smartphone, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has been used on the Realme GT 2 Pro, and both smartphones are running on Android 12 OS.
While the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC takes a lead in terms of overall performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 continues to offer better gaming performance just like its predecessors. Hence, a phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will be slightly better at gaming when compared to phones with the Dimensity 9000 SoC.
However, this also depends on how the exact smartphone is optimized and one should also consider the cooling solution on the specific smartphone. Although smartphone processors have gotten a lot faster in the last few years, most phones still use passive cooling solutions, hence the performance gets throttled even with limited usage.
Although there are no smartphones with the Mediatek Dimensity 9000 SoC in India, brands are expected to launch the same in the coming weeks. However, when it comes to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, you have options like the Galaxy S22, iQOO 9 Pro, and the Moto Edge 30 Pro. A lot more smartphones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are on their way too.

Realme GT Neo 3 Will Be The Fastest Charging Smartphone In the World: 150W Charging ConfirmedWhile Realme is selling the GT Neo 3 with massive discounts in India, the company is also gearing up for the launch of the successor to the same. At MWC 2022, the company has teased the upcoming Realme GT Neo 3 and also confirmed that the phone will come with 150W fast charging support, making it the fastest charging smartphone in the world.
While we already have phones like the iQOO 9 Pro with support for 120W fast charging, there are no smartphones with 150W fast charging, which makes the Realme GT Neo 3 a one-of-a-kind smartphone. In fact, the company has confirmed that the Realme GT Neo 3 can be charged from 0 to 50 percent in just five minutes.
As of now, there is no information on how long the Realme GT Neo 3 will take for a full charge. Given how most fast chargers throttles charging after 50 percent, the Realme GT Neo 3 might take around 15 to 20 minutes for a full charge, which should make it one of the fastest charging smartphones.
Yes, Realme is most likely to include a 150W fast charger with the Realme GT Neo 3, as it is hard to get a 150W fast charger from the market. Given the fact that a fast charging adapter will cost a lot more than a regular charger, a user has a bear the price, and the Realme GT Neo 3's retail price is expected to include the cost of the charger.
Tech brands research and collect a lot of data before deploying fast charging technologies, especially on phones that might offer over 50W of fast charging. As of now, phones like the Xiaomi Mi 11i and the iQOO 9 Pro with support for 120W fast charging are working as expected and have not caused any trouble. Some of these fast-charging technologies to be on the safer side slow down the charging speed if the phones heat us. Hence, we could also expect the same on the Realme GT Neo 3, and this technology should be safe for normal day-to-day usage.

Exercise Dharma Guardian: 3rd India-Japan joint military drill to kick-start from 27 Feb at Belagavi in K'takaThe contingent of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) arrived in India today to take part in the 12 days long 'Exercise Dharma Guardian'.
The 3rd edition of the joint military exercise 'Dharma Guardian' between the Indian Army & JGSDF will be conducted at Belagavi, Karnataka from 27 February to 10 March 2022. The military exercise aims at enhancing inter-operability and fostering mutual understanding between the two Armies.
Further, the joint drill will focus on operations in Jungle & Semi-Urban/Urban terrains. India, Japan, the US and Australia are part of the Quad group that has been formed to keep the critical sea routes in the Indo-Pacific free from any malignant influence of China. The scope of Dharma Guardian exercise covers platoon-level joint training on operations in jungle and semi urban and urban terrain, the statement said.
Combat experienced troops of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army and 30th Infantry Regiment of Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces are participating in the exercise this year, it noted. The 12-day-long exercise schedule includes house interventions drills, raid on terrorist hideouts in semi urban terrain, combat first aid, unarmed combat and close quarter combat firing where both sides will jointly train, plan and execute a series of well-developed tactical drills for neutralisation of likely threats, it mentioned. The joint field training exercises, joint combat discussions and joint demonstrations will culminate with a two day validation exercise scheduled on March 8 and March 9, it said.
The first-ever joint military exercise involving the Indian Army and Japan Ground Self Defence Force was held from 1st November to 14 November 2018 at Counter Insurgency Warfare School, Vairengte, India. The Indian contingent was represented by 6/1 Gorkha Rifles while the Japanese contingent was represented by the 32 Infantry Regiment of the Japanese Ground Self Defence Force. The first of its kind 14 days long joint military exercise consisted of a balance of indoor classes and outdoor training activities. The objective of the exercise was to build and promote army to army relations in addition to exchanging skills and experiences between both armies.
Notably, due emphasis was also laid on enhancing tactical skills to combat global terrorism and on increasing interoperability between forces of both countries which is crucial for the success of any joint operation. Both sides jointly trained, planned, and executed a series of well-developed tactical drills for neutralization of likely threats that may be encountered in urban warfare scenarios.
The second edition of the joint military drill was conducted at Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, Vairengte from 19 October 2019 to 02 November 2019. The Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces (JGSDF) contingent comprised 25 soldiers each from each side. The exercise focused on sharing experience gained during various Counter-Terrorism Operations (COO) in respective countries.
With these series of joint bilateral exercises between India & Japan, both nations aim to come together to propel their bilateral relations towards the next level. The primary focus of the exercise is to train and equip the contingents in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain.
The entire curriculum of the exercise is planned in a progressive manner wherein the participants are initially familiarised with each others' organisation, weapons, and combat skills before graduating to joint tactical exercises.

In the midst of the escalating situation in Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with President Vladimir Putin on Thursday during which he appealed for ending violence, and called for concerted efforts from all sides to return to the path of diplomatic dialogue. Balakot, 3 years on and why it required guts to hit itIt has been three years since the Indian Air Force carried out a daredevil operation in which a Jaish-e-Mohammad-e-Mohammad base within Pakistan was hit.
It required immaculate planning to enter Pakistan undetected, strike at the target and return unhurt.
The Balakot facility in Pakistan was under the radar for at least 15 years before the actual hit took place. Balakot was a known terrorist camp. It was not in 2019, butbut 15 years back itself, we had mapped it out, intelligence officials tell OneIndia. These targets were on the radar of the Indian establishment for long. Prior to planning the surgical strikes, Balakot was discussed. However India did not want a hurried operation at Balakot and thought it would be better to test the waters in the form of a surgical strike first. After hitting Balakot meant entering deep into Pakistan and hitting the target.
Although the agencies were aware of a massive build up of terrorists at Balakot, they was no green signal from the government. Former officer with the Research and Analysis Wing Amar Bhushan confirms that they had mapped Balakot 15 years ago. However there was no signal from the government to hit it. It is one of the biggest and most dangerous facilities of the JeM and it ought to have been hit long back, Bhushan explains.
Since then there have been many times that we wanted to hit the camp. These targets were on the radar of the Indian establishment for long, Bhushan also says. I am sure that in 2016, before the surgical strikes were carried out, this option on Balakot would have been considered. However it appears that the decision to test the waters before going for a strike at Balakot would have been weighed in.
With regard to the number of terrorists killed in the operation, Amar Bhushan says that the numbers really dont matter. The fact is that an identified camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammad was hit. It was a regular structured base, where terrorists were trained. I would say that by hitting the camp, India conveyed a very strong message. The other message that was conveyed is that we know where they are are and what support they are getting. I am sure that the loses have been great in number. I cannot believe it when someone says that the terror camps would have been emptied.
Naveen Patnaik speaks to Jaishankar, Shah over Odisha students stuck in UkraineOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Home Minister Amit Shah, urging them to ensure the safe return of hundreds of students and workers of the state stranded in war-torn Ukraine.
While the state is working to ascertain the exact number of people stranded in the restive country, official sources said it is around 1,500. Jaishankar and Shah have assured Patnaik the safe evacuation of those stranded in Ukraine, an official statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.
Patnaik directed Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena to coordinate the return of the Odisha residents from Ukraine, while district magistrates were asked to collect information from the families of those stranded. The chief minister said the state government will bear the expenses of the evacuation.
The state government also operationalised a Special Assistance Cell at Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi to coordinate the rescue efforts with the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation and other agencies concerned. "All processes to ensure the safe evacuation of students from Ukraine is underway. Since the airports in Ukraine are closed, the MEA has been taking the people of Indian origin, including those from Odisha, to some bordering countries from where they can take flights back to India.
We are in constant touch with the MEA team working in the field level," said Ravi Kant, Odisha's Resident Commissioner in New Delhi.
Most of the students from the state are pursuing medical courses at National Medical University in Kharkiv and Kyiv Medical University. The stranded students are from Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts, official sources said. "The Odisha government has already moved for the safe evacuation of the students. Our resident commissioner in New Delhi is in regular touch with the Ministry of External Affairs," Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra told PTI. Roshan Behera, a fourth-year medical student from Kuchinda in Sambalpur district, told an Odia TV channel from Ukraine that the bomb shelters are already full, crammed with locals.
"We are living in constant fear for life as we have never faced such a situation before. We need to be rescued immediately. Our parents and relatives are constantly calling us to know about the situation here. We don't know for how long they can keep contacting us," she said. Aruna Jyoti Biswal, a resident of Mahanadi Vihar in Cuttack whose son is a final-year medical student in Ukraine, said, "My son Aruaman Abhishek was supposed to return home on February 26, but is unable to do so as flights are cancelled. I appeal to both the prime minister and the chief minister to rescue my son."

Watch: First batch of stranded Indians reach Romania from UkraineThe first batch of Indian nationals from Ukraine reached Romania on Friday afternoon after crossing the Suceava border post, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. Officials said more Indians in small groups are expected to reach Romania through the border crossing.
"The first batch of evacuees from Ukraine reach Romania via Suceava border crossing. Our team at Suceava will now facilitate travel to Bucharest for their onward journey to India," MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
In a tweet, he also shared visuals of the Indians transiting the border post. Senior officials said Air India will operate two flights to the Romanian capital Bucharest on Friday to evacuate the Indians. More flights are likely to operate over the next few days. The two Air India flights are expected to depart Bucharest on Saturday. India is trying to evacuate its nationals through Ukraine's land borders with Hungary, Poland, Slovakia after the Ukrainian government closed the country's airspace following the Russian military offensive.
Earlier, the Indian embassy in Ukraine said over 470 students will exit Ukraine and enter Romania through the Porubne-Siret border on Friday and that it is moving them to neighbouring countries for onward evacuation. It said that the "massive evacuation" operation was organised through the joint efforts of Indian embassies in Ukraine, Poland, Romania and Hungary and that efforts are underway to relocate Indians coming in from the hinterland.
As India stepped up efforts to evacuate around 16,000 of its citizens, mostly students, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, during a phone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, discussed the predicament of the Indian nationals and appreciated his support for their safe return. "Received call from Ukrainian FM @DmytroKuleba. He shared his assessment of the current situation.I emphasised that India supports diplomacy & dialogue as the way out," Jaishankar tweeted. At UNSC motion against Russia, India abstains, Moscow vetoesRussia vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution on Friday which deplored in the strongest terms the country's military action in Ukraine. The resolution demanded the immediate withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.
The motion co-written by the United States and Albania found favour from 11 of the 15 nations., India, China and the UAE abtained.
The resolution was a no-go right from the start because of Moscow's veto power as a permanent member of the country. US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said after the vote, "let me make one thing clear. Russia, you can veto this resolution, but you cannot veto our voices, you cannot veto the truth, you cannot veto our principles, you cannot veto the Ukrainian people." Make no mistake, Russia is isolated.
It has no support for the invasion of Ukraine,, Barbara Woodward, Britain's ambassador to the UN said. We have a solemn obligation to not look away. At the very minimum, we have an obligation to object," Greenfield said.
Why India abstained on the UNSC resolution on RussiaIn the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine India abstained on the vote on the draft resolution.
T S Tirumurti, Ambassador of India to the United Nations said that India is deeply disturbed by the recent developments in Ukraine. We urge that all efforts are made for the immediate cessation of violence and hostilities, he said. No solution can be arrived at, at the cost of human lives, he further added.
We are deeply concerned about the welfare and security of the Indian community, including a large number of Indian students, he said. The contemporary global order has been built on the UN Charter, international law and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, Tirumurti also added. All members need to honour these principles in finding a constructive way forward, he said while also adding that dialogue is the only answer to settling differences and disputes, however daunting that may appear at the moment. It is a matter of regret that the path of diplomacy was given up and we must return to it. For all these reasons, India has chosen to abstain on this resolution, he concluded.
Russia while vetoing the resolution said, "you have made Ukraine a pawn in your geopolitical game, with no concern whatsoever about the interests of the Ukrainian people. It is nothing other than yet another brutal and inhuman move in this Ukrainian chessboard." China said, "Russia's legitimate security aspirations should be given attention and addressed properly. Ukraine should become a bridge between east and west, not an outpost for confrontation among major powers." Russia vetoed the resolution on Friday which deplored in the strongest terms the country's military action in Ukraine. The resolution demanded the immediate withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.

"Firstly, to all stranded students, stranded Indians on the Ukraine side, the government of Poland is doing a lot to provide easy transit into Poland to stranded people of all nationalities who are coming in via land border with Ukraine," news agency ANI quoted Indian envoy to Poland Nagma Mallick as saying.
The Indian government has planned to evacuate the stranded Indian via Poland and Indian nationals may note the coordinates of the Embassy Offices set up for the evacuation: - (i) Liaison Office, Lviv - Vivek Singh -- Tel: +48 881 551 273 (ii) Embassy Office, Krakowiec - Shubham Kumar -- Tel.: +48 575 467 147 (iii) Embassy Office, Medyka - Ranjit Singh - Tel.: +48 575 762 557 Embassy Control Room, Warsaw - Sukhvinder Malik, Tel: +48606700105 & +48225400000. It is reiterated that Indian nationals arriving at the Poland-Ukraine border by public conveyance i.e. by bus or taxi, are advised to make for the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing. The Poland government is permitting people to cross the border only on foot via the Shehyni-Medyka border point. The Krakowiec crossing is for persons traveling in their own vehicles.
Further, it has been advised Indian nationals crossing into Poland to register their details by filling the Google Form (https://forms.gle/TPmtUeMh98Q4XgvP9) for processing their requests for seats in the repatriation flights.
Ukraine crisis: Oppn attacks govt on evacuation strategy, says despite repeated warnings it failed to actAs Russia launched an offensive against Ukraine, Opposition leaders, mostly from the Congress, on Thursday attacked the government for not making arrangements in time to bring 20,000 Indians in Ukraine back and accused it of "turning away its face" on its nationals in this difficult time. Some of the Congress leaders also demanded that India should take a firm stand and "unequivocally condemn" Russia's action.
Attacking the government for not acting despite repeated warnings, the Congress asked why it had not made arrangements in time to bring 20,000 Indians in Ukraine back home safely. Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said,"turning away its face in every difficult situation...And remaining silent has become a habit of the Modi government. Our 20,000 Indian youth in Ukraine are forced to grapple with fear, apprehension and life-threatening situations." "Why were arrangements not made in time to bring them safely? Is this the 'self-reliant' mission," Surjewala tweeted.
In a series of tweets in Hindi, he said,"the Government of India says - Our 20,000 Indians trapped in Ukraine should stay where they are. Because the government is busy fighting elections right now?". "Prime Minister ji, instead of taking care of all, you are busy in election rallies... But we Indians are praying for the well being of all of you," he said and added "this is called...Opportunity in disaster once again? #Ukraine #UkraineConflict." Congress MP Vivek Tankha asked that when the US could evacuate its citizens on time, why did India fail to do so despite repeated warnings. "Very poor strategy planning. With thousands trapped in the conflict zone, we have failed our people. Imagine their & families plight," he said. The situation in Ukraine deteriorated after President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine, triggering serious concerns over the possibility of a full-scale military confrontation between the two countries.
Former minister of state for external affairs and Congress leader Tharoor said he is receiving a number of desperate messages from families of students stranded in Ukraine and needing evacuation. "Mr Prime Minister, this is not the time for election strategy but for diplomatic strategy. Thousands of our children who have gone to study in Ukraine are stuck there, understand the priority!" he said in a tweet in Hindi. Another Congress leader and former Union minister Manish Tewari tweeted, "India should unequivocally condemn Russian invasion of Ukraine in unambiguous terms. There comes a time when you need to tell 'friends' they can't indulge in Regime change.
India's conduct of international relations should be characterised by calling a spade a spade." "Let us not make the same mistake qua Russia again when we did with the erstwhile Soviet Union when we did not condemn Soviet Invasion of Hungary -1956, Czechoslovakia -1968, Afghanistan-1979," Tewari said. The principle being - in the 21st century can you change the status quo by force, he added. Tharoor also said however much one appreciates Moscow's legitimate security concerns, resorting to war is impossible to accept or justify, and India should demand that Russians "stop".
"So Russia is conducting a 'regime change' operation. How long can India, which had consistently opposed such interventions, stay silent?", Tharoor tweeted. Tharoor also slammed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan over his visit to Russia amid the developments and cited the example of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who in 1979 as the then foreign minister had cut short his visit to China when Beijing attacked Vietnam.
"If @imrankhanPTI has any self-respect, he will do what Vajpayee Sahib did when China attacked Vietnam during his 1979 visit: he should cancel his trip immediately & go home. Otherwise, he is complicit in the invasion," Tharoor said. Another former Union minister and Congress leader Milind Deora said India should learn the right lessons from the Russia-Ukraine conflict and diversify relationships and not depend on allies that are allies only on paper. "I hope Taiwan is listening," he added. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi posted a video on Twitter purportedly of some Indians in Ukraine talking about their problems with the caption "This is what I have been raising with MEA and Civil Aviation Ministry. Now our Indians are stranded and are feeling helpless."
Describing the situation in Ukraine as "highly uncertain", the India embassy in its advisory on Thursday said,"please maintain calm and remain safe wherever you are, be it in your homes, hostels, accommodations or in transit... All those who are travelling to Kyiv, including those travelling from western parts of Kyiv, are advised to return to their respective cities. temporarily, especially towards safer places along the western bordering countries." Russian troops launched their anticipated attack on Ukraine on Thursday, as Putin cast aside international condemnation and sanctions and warned other countries that any attempt to interfere would lead to consequences they had "never seen". The vehicles are said to have crossed in from various places including Belarus in the north and Crimea in the south. There are also crossings that have taken place the east, in the region of Kharkiv and Luhansk. Indians returning from Ukraine can travel via Qatar: GovtThe Centre on Thursday said Indian passengers from Ukraine can return via Qatar, with aviation industry experts stating that civilian flights will restart from Ukraine only when its airspace opens. Currently 20,000 Indians, mostly students, are stranded in Ukraine.
Since the Ukrainian airspace is closed due to the Russian military offensive, it is currently not clear how they are to travel from Ukraine to Qatar to take Qatar-India flights, which are operating normally.
The authorities of the eastern European country issued a NOTAM (notice to airmen) Thursday morning stating that civilian flights within Ukraine "are restricted due to potential hazard for civil aviation".
The Indian Embassy in Qatar said on Twitter, "Government of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation has allowed passengers traveling from Ukraine to travel by transit under India-Qatar bilateral air bubble arrangement."
This means that the passengers coming from Ukraine to Qatar will be able to board flights operating between Qatar and India.

World may see another pandemic likely a respiratory virus: Bill GatesMicrosoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates on Thursday said the world may see another pandemic, likely a respiratory virus, even as he emphasised on strengthening diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines and R &D.
The last gigantic pandemic was almost 100 years ago but it won't be that long into the next one strikes, he said, in a virtual fireside chat with Telangana Industries Minister K T Rama Rao as part of 'BioAsisa-2022', the state government's flagship annual life sciences convention.

Because, with all the human travel we have now, that's the one that can spread in such a rapid way," he said. Gates talked about his upcoming book on the subject, the lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significance of funding the private sector and academia to build better diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines.

How Tamil Nadu became a happy playground for the Islamic StateThe National Investigation Agency has arrested a key conspirator of the terror group Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The operative of this terror group which owes allegiance to the Islamic State has been identified as Mohammad Iqbal. The case was registered at Madurai after it was found that the accused was radicalising the Muslims in order to establish the Caliphate of the Islamic State. The accused was also conspiring to enforce the constitution that was written by radical Islamic preacher Taqi al-Din al Nabhani who founded the HuT.
The probe by the NIA revealed that one Ziyavudeen Baqavi is the leader of the HuT for Thanjavur, Madurai, Erode and Salem districts in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal in Puducherry. He is also one of the main recruiters who used to preach about the importance of the Islamic State, the NIA said. In the past couple of years, several cases in Tamil Nadu relating to the ISIS have been reported. In fact Tamil Nadu had the first known ISIS recruit in the country. Haja Fakkruddin who hailed from Cuddalore was part of the early recruitments in India. Haja was radicalised in Cuddalore and then went to Singapore before he left for Syria.
Haja is not the only operative from Cuddalore to have joined the ISIS. A computer engineer was deported recently from Singapore. He said that it was he who had introduced Haja to this organisation, following which he was radicalised. During the various searches, literature relating to the ISIS had been found.
Speeches of the 20th century Islamist thinker Abul Ala Maududi have been found in the possession of several youth. Further the police have also seized compact discs which had the speeches of radical elements such as Anwar Al Awlaki and Abdul Raheem Green.
In its 2016 chargesheet, the NIA speaks about the role of Mohammad Naseer, a computer engineer in his mid 20s. Naseer was heading to Libya from Sudan, but was apprehended and later deported to India. He did his computer engineering from the MNM college in Chennai. It was at this time that he would visit a mosque at Chennai which was run by the Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath, non-political Islamic Organisation that preaches a puritanical version of Islam. This group was founded by P Jainul Abdeen in 2004, when he broke away from the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam.
The role of the ISIS in Tamil Nadu was unraveled in a big way in 2014. In August 2014, the police arrested Abdul Rahman and Mohammad Rizwan from the Ramnathapuram district on the charge that they were distributing t-shirts with the ISIS emblem. A photo showing 26 youth posing with the t-shirt in front of a Mosque at Thondi had surfaced on the social media. While the police were not able to find any direct link with the outfit, it however showed that the ISIS was gradually being received in the state. During the various probes conducted by the NIA, one key one would be the one relating to Coimbatore.
The investigation into this case began with the arrest of five persons from Coimbatore. The ones to be arrested were Ashiq (25), Ismail (25) from Dindivanam, Salavuddin (25) from Otteri, Jafar Sadiq Ali (29) from Vyasarpadi near Chennai and Shamsuddin (20) from Pallavaram in Chennai. Ismail in his confession had said that Ashiq had promised them help for their operation. The NIA says that Ismail had links with the ISIS. The intention was to carry out a major operation on Ganesh Chaturthi. These developments are significant in the wake of the murders in Coimbatore.
Munnani spokesperson C Sasikumar in 2016 and an atheist H Farook in 2017 were murdered by radical Islamic groups. NIA officials tell OneIndia that the problem is a deep-rooted one. These persons are operating under the name of the Islamic State now. They are part of the same radical set up which has been propagating violent Islam. These operatives have been trying to propagate radical and violent Islam in several places at Tamil Nadu.
Coimbatore, Cuddalore and Chennai are some of their key areas of operation. The National Investigation Agency has carried out searches in six locations at Tamil Nadu in connection with the Islamic State Coimbatore case. The case pertains to the criminal conspiracy hatched by 6 persons and their associates with an intention of further the cause of the ISIS. The NIA learnt that these persons had planned on targeting Hindu activists in Coimbatore.
The accused persons arrested by Tamil Nadu Police in this case in September, 2018 and charge-sheeted by NIA in February, 2019 had conducted preparations, including reconnaissance of targets, for launching such attacks, which would have caused communal disharmony and terror in the State. Investigation revealed that the charge-sheeted accused persons and their associates were radicalised on the violent extremist ideology of ISIS/ Daish by following the speeches and videos of the Sri Lankan ISIS/ Daish leader Zahran Hashim, over social media platforms.
Now searches have been conducted at the houses of the associates of the charge-sheeted accused persons, at two locations in Coimbatore City besides at one location each in Sivaganga, Tiruchirapalli, Nagapattinam and Toothukudi districts. During searches, two laptops, eight mobile phones, five SIM cards, one SD card and fourteen documents have been seized.Source: https://www.oneindia.com/india/how-tamil-nadu-became-a-happy-playground-for-the-islamic-state-3375851.html

Realme Narzo 50 Launch Date Confirmed; 6.5-Inch FHD+ Display, 5,000mAh Battery ExpectedRealme has announced that the Narzo 50 smartphone would be available in India on February 24. Realme is advertising the phone online by exposing the specifications with just a few days till the launch. According to the firm, the Realme Narzo 50 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G96, a 4G processor.
This suggests that, like the other two phones in the Narzo line, the Narzo 50 will be a 4G phone. Realme also posted photographs of the Narzo 50 on Twitter, which reveal triple cameras on the back of the phone.
The Realme Narzo 50 is the third phone in the Narzo 50 series. The first two, the Narzo 50A and the Narzo 50i were released in India last year. The Realme Narzo 50 teasers confirm the phone's design. The phone resembles the Narzo 50A in appearance. It's probable that the Realme Narzo 50 will come in a variety of colors. A square camera bump with three sensors and one LED flashlight can be found on the phone's rear.
The Realme Narzo 50 teasers also disclose a headphone jack and a USB-C port for charging at the bottom. The speaker grille can be seen at the bottom, but there's no clarity whether the phone has a dual speaker configuration with the earpiece on top of the display acting as a second speaker. Realme just announced the 9i, which comes with dual speakers and costs roughly Rs 14,000. The Realme Narzo 50 is expected to have a 6.6-inch Full-HD+ display, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of internal storage, a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support, a 50MP main camera on the back, a 2MP camera with a black-and-white sensor, and a 2MP macro camera, according to a new leak by rmleaks.

"Once you proceed with an investigation and record it then its not fair to stop midway. State should not do anything that makes the process difficult," Mehta said.
The apex court had earlier allowed Mumbai Police to carry on the investigation against Singh but restrained it from filing charge sheets on the FIRs against him over the allegations of misconduct and corruption. The state police had earlier told the apex court that Singh cannot be considered a "whistleblower" under the law as he chose to speak out against alleged corruption involving former home minister Anil Deshmukh only after his transfer.
Our work in last 5 years laid foundation for the next 25 years: PM Modi in ManipurPrime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday claimed that the BJP's double engine government has laid the foundation for the development of Manipur for the next 25 years.
Speaking at an election rally in Manipur's Heingang, the PM, who expressed his confidence of coming to power again, said, "In the last 5 years, BJP's double engine government worked towards the overall development of Manipur. You have seen BJP's good governance and good intentions. Our work in the last 5 years has laid the foundation for the next 25 years. You have witnessed BJP's good governance as well as a good intention,"
He then targeted Congress for delivering inequality to Manipur despite ruling the state for decades. "Last month, Manipur completed 50 years of its formation. The state has witnessed several governments in the last few decades. After decades of Congress rule, Manipur had got only inequality," he said. The Prime Minister stated that the BJP government gave relief to the people by ending bandhs and blockades.
"Congress, on the other hand, had made bandhs and blockades the main feature of Manipur," he added. He further appealed to the youths to exercise their franchise. "I'd like to appeal to the youth and the first-time voters - your vote is your active participation in this government and you become a part of the decision-making," he said.
He also hailed the good works done by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, saying his government has written a new chapter of change for Manipur, taking everyone forward. PM Modi said that every 7 out of 10 Manipuri is now benefiting from the free ration. "Manipuri women had led a historic battle against foreign forces. Former governments never made the lives of Manipuri women easy. Only the NDA governments understood their problems and worked towards making their lives better," said PM Modi.
Ukraine Crisis: Don't wait, return immediately, Indian Embassy tells studentsAmid the growing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine on Tuesday asked Indian students to return home rather than wait for confirmation of online classes by universities.
"The Embassy of India is receiving a large number of calls asking about the confirmation of online classes by Medical Universities. In this regard, as informed earlier, the Embassy is engaged with respective authorities for streamlining the education process for Indian students. Students are advised, in the interest of their safety, to leave Ukraine temporarily, rather than wait for official confirmation from universities," tweeted the Indian Embassy in Ukraine.
The advisory was issued after parents of several Indian students in Ukraine expressed concerns over the current situation. Congress behind Bajrang Dal worker Harsha's killing: BJP MLAKarnataka leader MP Renukacharya on Tuesday urged home minister to hand over the murder case of the Bajrang Dal activist to the National Investigation Agency. "Congress is behind the murder of Harsha. He was killed because of DK Shivakumar, BK Hariprasad and other Congress leaders. I urge the home minister to hand over the case to NIA," Renukacharya, who is also the political secretary to chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, told news agency ANI.
Renukacharya also announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the family of 26-year-old Harsha, who was stabbed to death late Sunday evening. The BJP leaders's allegations come a day after Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa also accused DK Shivakumar of provoking youths. The Shivamogga cops have taken three to four people into custody in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old Bajrang Dal activist.
Harsha was stabbed to death on Sunday night at Bharathi Nagar in the city allegedly by a group of men, who had arrived in a car. Police suspect the involvement of seven people in the murder. Following the incident, the city witnessed violence, arson, stone-pelting and damage to the properties during the funeral procession on Monday that left at least three persons, including a photo journalist and a policewoman, injured. Several two-wheelers were either damaged or torched.
Police tried to bring the situation under control by firing in the air and lathi charge to disperse the crowd, and made way for the funeral procession to move further and the final rites to take place. Police personnel have been deployed at every nook and corner of the city.Source: https://www.oneindia.com/india/congress-behind-bajrang-dal-worker-harsha-s-killing-bjp-mla-3374434.html
'A government for people won't promote capitalism': Varun Gandhi's dig at Modi govtBJP MP Varun Gandhi on Tuesday launched fresh attack on centre over "privatisation of banks and railways", saying that it will lead to huge job losses. Just the privatisation of banks and railways will leave 5 lakh people jobless. With every job that's lost, the hope for lakhs of families diminishes. A government that works for people's welfare cannot encourage inequality by promoting capitalism," the MP from Uttar Pradesh's Pilbhit tweeted.
Opposition leaders including Congress's Rahul Gandhi have been vocal over the first move to invite private players in the railways sector in 2020. The government has maintained that railways infrastructure will never be privatised but it plans to monetise its assets to generate resources to boost growth. Last year, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal also said that passenger train operations taken up through Public Private Partnership (PPP) is targeted to bring a total investment of about Rs 30,000 crore.
The Pilibhit MP, earlier last week had slammed the Centre over the bank frauds and said that a 'strong government' is expected to take 'strong action' on the "super corrupt" system. The BJP last month excluded him and his mother and party's MP Maneka Gandhi from the list of star campaigners for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
India in favour of international peace: Rajnath Singh on Ukraine crisisDefence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that India is in favour of a solution through talks, amid escalating tension between Russia and Ukraine.
"India wants a solution through talks, and peace to be established. I am sure a solution will emerge following talks between Russian President Putin and US President Biden," said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Ukraine Crisis.
President Putin on Monday signed decrees to recognise Ukraine's regions of "Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics" as "independent", escalating the tension in the region and increasing fears of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. He also ordered Russian troops into eastern Ukraine in what the Kremlin called a "peacekeeping" mission in the Moscow-backed regions.
Voicing "deep concern" over the escalation of tension along the Russia-Ukraine border after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops into eastern Ukraine, India has told the UN Security Council that the immediate priority is de-escalation of tensions and said it was convinced that this issue can only be resolved through diplomatic dialogue.
Addressing an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine on Monday night, India's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti said, "we have been closely following the evolving developments relating to Ukraine, including developments along the eastern border of Ukraine and the related announcement by the Russian Federation."
"The escalation of tension along the border of Ukraine with the Russian Federation is a matter of deep concern. These developments have the potential to undermine peace and security of the region," he said.
India called for "restraint on all sides" and stressed that the immediate priority is "de-escalation of tensions" taking into account the legitimate security interests of all countries and aimed towards securing long term peace and stability in the region and beyond.Source: https://www.oneindia.com/india/india-in-favour-of-international-peace-rajnath-singh-on-ukraine-crisis-3374452.html
What is the grave urgency? HC on urgent hearing of Wankhede's plea on bar licenseThe Bombay High Court on Tuesday slammed the development over how a petition filed the previous day by NCB's former Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede was listed for hearing without the court permitting the same.
The court said that there was no urgency. "How come this petition is listed today when it was not mentioned before us on Monday? We have not allowed it," Justice Patel said. Wankhede's advocate Veena Thadani told the court that they were waiting to mention the matter on Monday, but the court staff said it would be listed on Tuesday.
The division bench of Justices Gautam Patel and Madhav Jamdar then warned the court staff from doing so. "A poor person files a petition and their matter is never taken up for hearing, and when an influential person files a petition, their plea is listed for hearing immediately," Justice Jamdar said.
2008 batch IRS officer Wankhede filed a petition on Monday challenging an order passed by the Thane Excise Collector cancelling the liquor license of his restaurant and bar in Navi Mumbai, and sought restoration of the cancelled license.
"What is the grave urgency? What heavens will fall?" the bench asked. Advocate Feroze Bharucha, appearing for Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik, who is a respondent in the case, sought a copy of the petition and time to respond to the same. "There are allegations and false statements made against the minister," Bharucha said.
"Just because you two (Wankhede and Malik) are having a war of words in the media, we have to grant urgent hearing?" Justice Patel asked. In the petition, Wankhede claimed that he was targeted for arresting Malik's son-in-law in a drugs case when he was heading the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) unit and the action take by the Excise Department and police were under "political pressure." Going by the petition, the license was granted in October 1997 and was renewed time and again till 2021. "After my client (Wankhede) arrested minister Nawab Malik's son-in-law in a drugs case, the minister wrote a letter in November 2021 to the Thane Excise Collector raising questions on the license," Wankhede's advocate Vishal Thadani said.
SC postpones Pegasus case hearing to Friday on request of CentreThe Supreme Court has postponed its hearing of the Pegasus spyware case to Friday after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought additional time as he would be busy arguing a money laundering case in another court.
As per the cause list uploaded on the website of the apex court, a bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana was scheduled to hear on Wednesday the pleas on the Pegasus issue for the first time after October 27 last year when it had ordered setting up of a three-member panel of cyber experts to probe the spying allegations.
The bench, also comprising justices A S Bopanna and Hima Kohli, was urged by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, that the proposed hearing of the pleas on Wednesday be deferred to Friday (February 25) as he would be arguing before another bench. "The Pegasus matters are coming up before your Lordships .. I am in part heard (matter) before court three in the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) vires matters. I will be on my legs tomorrow from 10.30... If it (Pegasus cases) can be kept on Friday instead of Wednesday," said the law officer. "All right, you please inform the other side," said the CJI.
The law officer said that he would be informing the counsel for the other side who had filed the PILs. A special bench, as per the website, has listed as many as 12 PILs, including the ones filed by the Editors Guild of India and veteran journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar, for hearing on February 23 and was likely to peruse and analyse the report which was to be filed by the apex court-appointed panel.
The panel, which included three experts on cyber security, digital forensics, networks and hardware, was asked to "inquire, investigate and determine" whether Pegasus spyware was used for snooping on citizens and their probe would be monitored by former apex court judge R V Raveendran.
The panel members were Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Prabaharan P and Ashwin Anil Gumaste. Justice Raveendran, who is heading the monitoring panel, has been assisted by former IPS officer Alok Joshi and Sundeep Oberoi, Chairman of Sub Committee in International Organisation of Standardisation/ International Electro-Technical Commission/Joint Technical Committee - in monitoring the inquiry of the technical panel.
The committee is requested to prepare the report after a thorough inquiry and place it expeditiously before the court, the bench had said. In recent times, reports emerged that the probe panel has been facing difficulties as very few people were coming forward to depose before it or submit their devices for technical scrutiny.
In one of the significant verdicts in recent times over the issue of citizens' right to privacy, a bench headed by the CJI had on October 27 last year ordered setting up of the panel saying mere invocation of national security by the state cannot render the judiciary a "mute spectator" and had asserted that indiscriminate spying on individuals in a democratic country cannot be allowed. An international media consortium had reported that over 300 verified Indian mobile phone numbers were on the list of potential targets for surveillance using Pegasus spyware.
