Apple iPhone 12 mini production reportedly halted



It's no secret that the iPhone 12 mini underperformed in terms of sales compared to the rest of Apple's current iPhone lineup. Now, TrendForce is reporting that the 12 mini is no longer in production, reaching the end of its life cycle. The phone is still up on Apple's website and will continue to sell as before until stock lasts.

The iPhone 12 mini was the most affordable member of the iPhone 12 series launching at $699/€799. It's also the smallest, thinnest and lightest 5G phone on the market.

Sadly, it only contributed to an estimated 5% of all iPhone 12 sales. Despite the lackluster sales performance of the 12 mini, Apple is still rumored to bring a successor this fall.

Samsung Galaxy M22 to support 25W charging, only ship with 15W charger



The Samsung Galaxy M22 isn't new to the rumor mill as some of its specs leaked a while ago. But a fresh FCC certification is here to tell us that the phone is getting closer to launch and that it supports 25W fast charging.

However, there's a catch. According to the listing, the device will ship with a 15W charger so you'd have to buy the 25W-rated charger from Samsung to take advantage of the fast charging. This is not the first time the manufacturer has shipped a phone with a lower-rated charger to cut on cost and the Galaxy M22 is a budget entry anyway.

So far, clues suggest that the Galaxy M22 will be based on the Galaxy A22 and will feature similar specs such as а 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display, 90Hz refresh rate, 48MP main camera and 13MP selfie snapper. Perhaps the battery will be bigger - 6,000 mAh but we still don't have any hard evidence on that.

Huawei P50 series coming on July 29 with huge ultrawide sensor



The Huawei P50 series' unveil could be on July 29, as per a Weibo rumor. The date was revealed by converting the binary code hint 1011011001 to 729, suggesting 29 of July. The P50 series is said to feature three devices - the P50, P50 Pro and P50 Pro+.

Another source from China claims that due to the Pandemic's effect on supply, Huawei could unveil a mostly 4G-ready fleet of P50 devices, all running the Kirin 9000 chipset. That would allow a lower price, although we still expect 5G versions of both the P50 Pro and P50 Pro+.

A third rumor has pointed to the series using a new 1/1.18-inch sensor for the ultrawide angle camera. That would be among the largest sensors in a phone and certainly the largest sensor in an ultrawide camera among any phone. The main sensor on at least the P50 Pro and Pro+ is heavily rumored to be a 1-inch Sony IMX800, the largest phone sensor to date.

A final tidbit about the P50 series, the P50 would have a slight curve on its OLED display, while the P50 Pro and Pro+ would have "waterfall" curved sides.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite debuts in India, Mi Watch Revolve Active tags along



Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11X, and Mi 11X Pro in India in April, and today the company further expanded its Mi 11 lineup in the Asian country with the Mi 11 Lite.

The Mi 11 Lite comes in Jazz Blue, Vinyl Black, and Tuscany Coral colors in India, and you get three memory options - 4GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/128GB. However, the company has only revealed the prices of the last two variants. The 6GB RAM model is priced at INR21,999 ($295/€250), and the 8GB RAM version at INR23,999 ($325/€270). You'll be able to buy one starting June 28 through Mi.com, Mi Home, Flipkart, and other retail stores across the country.



The Mi 11 Lite is powered by the Snapdragon 732G SoC and runs Android 11-based MIUI 12 out of the box. It sports a 6.55" FullHD+ 90Hz AMOLED screen and packs a 4,250 mAh battery charged through a USB-C port at up to 33W.

For photography, the Mi 11 Lite has a total of four cameras on board - a 16MP selfie unit inside the punch hole, with the 64MP primary camera on the rear joined by 8MP ultrawide and 5MP telemacro units.

In addition to the Mi 11 Lite, Xiaomi introduced the Mi Watch Revolve Active in India. The smartwatch will go on sale in India from June 25 through Mi.com, Mi Home, Amazon.in, and other retail stores across the country.

The Mi Watch Revolve Active sports a 1.39" AMOLED color touchscreen of 454x454-pixel resolution and supports over 110 watch faces. It also features 117 sports modes and comes with the usual slew of health and fitness features, including heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level measurement, and sleep tracking. The Nothing ear (1) TWS buds will be sold at Selfridges in London and online

The Nothing ear (1) - the first product of Carl Pei's new company - is supposed to launch this month, but that hasn't happened yet. We do get to know the first retailer that will carry the TWS headset and it's a posh one.

Selfridges is a chain of high-end department stores in the UK with the one on Oxford Street in London being the second largest shop in the country. There the Nothing buds will be sold in partnership with Smartech, which already sells a variety of gadgets in the store.

The buds will be available at the Selfridges London store as well as online at Selfridges.com. The buds are described as having "the raw beauty of technology with a distinctive transparent finish".

"Selfridges is an iconic shopping destination for us to launch ear (1)," said Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing. "Thanks to Smartech, the partnership will provide us with the platform to showcase Nothing's uniquely designed tech to consumers who value quality and new ideas."

McLaren partners premium sportswear brand for summer collection



McLaren Automotive, together with Castore, launches a high-performance summer clothing line.
Castore will also produce the team kit for the McLaren Racing Formula 1 team.

McLaren Automotive, the luxury supercar company, together with British premium sportswear brand Castore recently launched a new line of technical clothing called the Summer Capsule collection. The range aims to endure the tenacity of everyday life. Both brands had also collaborated last year to unveil an autumn/winter collection.

The collection has been inspired by the McLaren Automotive supercars. The automaker says that it uses lightweight and superior performance fabric that feels as luxurious to wear as McLaren does to drive. Each piece of the summer collection has been made of high-quality stretchable fabric that provides a full range of motion. Its sharp cuts resemble Mclaren's sports cars and the brand says it is fit for any occasion.

Nissan starts export of 'Made-in-India' Magnite to three foreign markets



Nissan says it has manufactured 15,010 units of Magnite till May end.
Nissan Magnite is making its way to markets like Nepal, Indonesia and South Africa.

Nissan India on Monday announced it has started exporting Magnite sub-compact SUVs to three international markets and that it had produced 15 ,010 units of Magnite since production began last year and till end of May this year.

Of the 15 ,010 units produced at the facility near Chennai , Nissan has informed that 13 ,790 units were for the domestic market while 1 ,220 units are for exports to countries like Nepal , Indonesia and South Africa. Magnite , as per Nissan India , has found initial success in Nepal with 2 ,292 bookings made within the first 30 days of the vehicle being launched here.

Nissan Magnite has been well received in India and has a waiting time for orders placed. Launched early December of last year , it was the most affordable sub-compact SUV at the time and while it continues to face a whole lot of very intense competition , continues to rake in numbers.

In many ways , Magnite has also been seen as a make-or-break product for Nissan which also offers Kicks and cars under the Datsun brand. The decision to enter the lucrative sub-compact SUV space may have been triggered by the traction witnessed in this segment. While some of the rivals here are offered with both diesel and petrol engine options , Magnite comes with petrol and turbo-petrol engines. Customers may choose from a manual or an automatic transmission unit.

Nissan has repeatedly underlined that it is trying to expand its sales and post-sales network in the country and recently started offerings its vehicles, Magnite included , on a subscription-based model as well.

High-flying battery makers have much to win and lose, says S&P



With the EV market booming, entities will need to manage substantial environmental, social and governance risk.
The demand for EV batteries may grow as much as eight-fold by 2025 from 139 gigawatt hours in 2020.

S&P Global Ratings said on Monday the world's biggest battery producers globally face substantial upside and downside risks to ratings.

While their growth opportunities are significant, they will need to navigate fast-moving technology, heavy expenditure, geopolitical forces shaping trade lines and environmental strains, it said.

The demand for batteries that power light electric vehicles (including battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids) may grow as much as eight-fold by 2025 from 139 gigawatt hours in 2020.

Many countries are encouraging battery production to foster their own domestic electric vehicle industry.

"The battery sector has entered an extremely dynamic phase. Firms face substantial growth opportunities as electric vehicles rapidly replace legacy autos," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Stephen Chan.

"This will require heavy upfront investment in a battery standard that may be quickly eclipsed by superior technology. There are many moving pieces that may contribute to sharp ratings moves, up or down."

Although Europe and the United States are aggressively building battery capacity, supply will likely undershoot demand. Regulatory inducements and government subsidies made Europe the fastest-growing electric vehicle market in 2020.

In the United States, the Biden administration has proposed tax incentives and new infrastructure (such as charging stations) that may increase the ratio of EVs to new auto sales to about 10 per cent, by 2025.

"The battery supply chains in the US and Europe are underdeveloped, and will need years to catch up to players such as China," said Chan.

Global carmakers are also leveraging on their partnerships with Korean and Japanese battery suppliers which have larger capacity available in Europe and the United States to secure battery supply in their home countries.

Stuntman dies while trying to break record for longest motorcycle ramp jump



Alex Harvill, 28, died in a fatal accident while practising ahead of his attempt to break motorcycle ramp jump record.
Harvill is survived by his wife and two sons.

Popular motorcycle stuntman Alex Harvill died while he was practising for a world record jump at the Moses Lake Airshow in Washington. He was 28 years old. Harvill wanted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest motorcycle ramp jump but fatally injured himself in a warmup jump before the record attempt.

According to media reports, Harvill was attempting the jump from a pre-constructed, moveable ramp to a dirt ramp at a height of 351 feet. Reports also added that the Grant County Coroner's Office had confirmed the stuntman died of injuries he suffered from the accident.

The current record jump of 351 feet was set by Robbie Maddison, an Australian motorbike stuntman, in March of 2008. Maddison took to Instagram to express his grief regarding the fatal accident. He posted a picture of the location where the stunt was being performed with Harvill in action. "Shattered about the news of the passing of @ah352 he had flown a motorcycle further then anyone else has and was out to set a new world record today when he paid the ultimate price. My heart is broken for his family. Sending our love To Jessica, Willy and Watson. R.I.P Alex Harvill," he wrote in the caption.

In 2013, Harvill had set a record for dirt to dirt distance jump at over 297 feet. In an interview to a local newspaper of Central Washington, he had said that he had been riding since the age of four, but before that, he rode on the front of his father's bike. "My entire life I've ridden dirt bikes and looked up to everyone that races dirt bikes and think of those guys as heroes," he had said in the interview.

Harvill is survived by his wife Jessica and kids named Willis, who is five, and a newborn son named Watson Robert Harvill.

Watch a Tesla EV anticipating a collision with sheer accuracy

In the video, one can see the electric vehicle reacting automatically to the impending danger and then stopping short of a collision that took place just a few metres away. One can see the Tesla pulling back when a red hatchback collided with another car. The short clip was posted by Frank van Hoesel on Twitter in which he drove his Tesla Model X that managed to avoid the collision.

Many have been posting videos and pictures of Tesla's autopilot mode where one can find the drivers in the passenger seat or backseat. The EV maker's website clearly states that the current autopilot feature requires active driver supervision.

Tesla recently launched its S Plaid model and the company claims that it is the fastest car in the world as it can touch 100 kmph in under 2 seconds. ZTE Axon 30 with second-gen UD camera to launch on July 22



Last week, Chinese display maker Visionnox teased its second-generation under-display camera which is expected to debut on the ZTE Axon 30 and now tipster Digital Chat Station is hinting that the phone could be announced on July 22. The info comes from a video shared by ZTE President Ni Fei who disclosed that the company is looking to launch an all-new device in the coming month.

Earlier this year, ZTE launched its Axon 30 Pro and Axon 30 Ultra both of which arrived with punch hole displays. This leaves the vanilla Axon 30 to carry on the legacy of the Axon 20 and its UD camera. According to the new info, ZTE is ready to announce its new phone with Visionox's InV see Pro display which touts a new and improved pixel arrangement for better clarity and less fogging on the embedded selfie camera.

Realme will launch the first Dizo products on July 1



Last month Realme unveiled its AIoT brand, Dizo, which will focus on smart home gadgets, accessories, entertainment products and more. Dizo is almost ready for its first product launch, which is coming on July 1 (Thursday next week).

For now Madhav Sheth and co. are keeping mum about what will be shown off at the event. However, Shopee Vietnam has been teasing the Dizo GoPods, GoPods D and Dizo Watch for weeks now (they are the Realme Buds Air 2, Buds Q2 and Watch 2, respectively, with minor exterior changes).

Leaked info shows that the brand is also planning to bring a Bluetooth speaker and a vacuum robot at some point, even a couple of feature phones.

Considering the music-related tweets from the last few days, Dizo will probably kick things off with the TWS headphones and leave the extra gadgets for a future launch.

Samsung Galaxy M21 Prime Edition will actually be called M21 2021 Edition



A couple of weeks ago a "Samsung Galaxy M21 Prime Edition" surfaced on the Samsung India website, but it appears that the company has had a change of heart when it comes to the naming. Or the phone will be sold under another name in other regions.

We say this because the same model number, SM-M215G, appeared on the Google Play Console as the "Galaxy M21 2021 Edition". Unfortunately, for now it only appears on the supported devices list, which doesn't list any specs.

And don't forget that there is a Galaxy M22 on the way with a 6.4" Super AMOLED display, Helio G80 chipset, 48 MP main camera and 6,000 mAh battery, which will allegedly cost €230 in Europe. Also, the Galaxy M21s exists, which is an M21 with M31's cameras (making it very nearly the same phone).

AMD's RDNA 2-powered Exynos GPU 30% faster than current Mali GPU



According to a report from Korea, early testing shows that AMD's custom RDNA 2 graphics processor for Samsung's next Exynos chipset is showing up to 30% faster performance than the current Mali-G78, found in the Galaxy S21 Ultra with the Exynos 2100.

If we take into account that the next generation Mali-G710 promises a 20% increase in performance, then the RDNA 2-powered Exynos chip would still offer better performance by about 10%.

However, the report shares that the AMD developed graphics processor has a throttling issue and struggles to maintain its clock speed for long. The second test run saw a 20% decrease in performance and the third by 30%.

During its Computex event, AMD CEO announced that it's bringing its RDNA 2 architecture to a future Exynos chipset and will support ray tracing and variable rate shading.

We expect this chipset to be the Exynos 2200, which could power everything from smartphones to laptops.

Samsung Galaxy M32 goes official with 90Hz AMOLED display and 6,000 mAh battery



Right on schedule, Samsung announced its Galaxy M32 for the Indian market. The device packs a large 6,000 mAh battery alongside a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a Mediatek Helio G80 chipset.

The front houses a waterdrop notch for the 20MP selfie cam. The screen has FHD+ resolution and can crank out up to 800 nits of brightness. The right hand side houses the power button which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

There's a 64MP main can around the back grouped alongside an 8MP ultrawide snapper and two 2MP modules for macro shots and depth data. The Helio G80 SoC is paired with 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB of expandable storage. The software front is covered by Android 11 with OneUI 3.1 on top.



The 6,000 mAh battery comes with support for 25W charging but you only get a 15W brick in the box. The phone also boasts a headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

Galaxy M32 comes in black and blue colors. The 4/64GB variant goes for INR 14,999 ($200) while the 6/128GB trim goes for INR 16,999 ($230). First sales start on June 28 exclusively through Amazon.

Ford recalls over 18,000 new F-Series pickup trucks over faulty front axles



The faulty front axles can lead to detachment of tyres and wheel assembly.
Ford says a total of 18,626 F-Series pickup trucks have been impacted due to the problem.

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall for its select F-Series pickup trucks in the North American market. The recall campaign affects 18,626 F-Series pickup trucks across the US, Canada and Mexico. Also, these affected F-Series pickup trucks were manufactured in 2021 only.

As Ford has announced in a statement, there are 17,616 affected F-Series pickups in the US, while in Canada and Mexico there are 779 and 231 vehicles respectively.

Ford says that the affected 2021 F-Series super duty pickup trucks are installed with dual rear wheels. The auto manufacturer claimed that the front wheel hub extenders in the affected F-Series pickup trucks were not properly tightened by the component supplier.

The faulty front axles of the affected 2021 F-Series pickup trucks might lead to the tyre and wheel assembly detachment from the front axle. It could result in a serious and life-threatening accident. However, the automaker claims that no incident or accident due to the faulty front axles have been reported so far.

The US auto giant plans to inform the affected F-Series owners about the recall program starting this week. The affected pickup owners will be instructed not to drive their vehicles until through check and verification.

The inspection and verification of the affected Ford F-Series pickup trucks can be done at the customers' locations or the vehicles can be towed to the dealer.

Ford F-Series pickup trucks the bestselling vehicles in the US market for a long time. The automaker has recently introduced its first-ever F-Series electric model that is christened as F-150 Lightning.

2022 Suzuki Burgman Street 200 breaks cover: All you need to know



Burgman Street 200 has been priced at $4,999 in the US, which roughly converts to ₹ 3.66 lakh.
It gets a car-like instrument console sporting two analogue meters with a digital display residing between the dials.

The 2022 Suzuki Burgman Street 200 has been revealed for the global markets. With the new model year update, the scooter has gained fresh colour options. While it was previously available in Pearl White and New Titan Black, Matte Stellar Blue option has now also been added to the list. Save for the colour updates, the rest of the scooter remains the same.

The Burgman Street 200 carries forward its maxi-scooter design featuring a big front apron complemented by its large windscreen. It also continues to sport a raised footboard and padded step-seat. One of the key highlights of the Burgman Street 200 includes its large underseat storage with a capacity of 41 litres.


The scooter gets two separate storage compartments residing inside the front apron with a capacity of 5.5 litres and 7 litres each. To charge mobile devices on the go, Suzuki has equipped the Street 200 with a 12V DC power output.

The features list on the maxi-scooter also includes a car-like instrument console sporting two analogue meters packing a digital display between these dials. It rides on 13-inch wheel at the front along with a 12-inch wheel at the rear. The wheels are shod with tubeless tyres. The braking kit includes 240 mm disc brakes at both ends and there is also a safety net of dual-channel ABS that's offered as standard.

At the heart of the scooter sits a fuel-injected and liquid-cooled, 200 cc single-cylinder engine. The company is yet to reveal the overall output figures of the new scooter. The engine comes paired to a CVT unit as before.

It has been priced at $4,999, which roughly converts to ₹ 3.66 lakh. It is unlikely to be seen on the Indian roads anytime soon.

Lamborghini Urus SUV, stolen by a teenager, chased down by owner on a scooter



'I got on the scooter, went after the guy,' said the owner of the stolen Lamborghini Urus SUV.

In a bizarre incident that took place in Florida, United States, a man chased down his stolen Lamborghini Urus SUV, one of the fastest cars in the world, in a scooter.

The incident took place in Miami, Florida on June 8. The owner, identified as Chris Sanders, went out on a scooter looking for his stolen Lamborghini SUV worth $ 200,000 (roughly converted to ₹1.46 crore) for several blocks moments after it was stolen from his house.

According to local police, a teenager had stolen the SUV. "I'm in my home. I hear this thing start up. I look out the window, and I see somebody driving it away. I got on the scooter, went after the guy," said the owner, while describing the whole incident.

Lamborghini Urus SUV is known as one of the fastest cars in the world. Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, that is capable of churning out 641 hp of power and 850 Nm of torque. The Lamborghini Urus can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and is capable of hitting a top speed of 305 kmph.

According to the local police investigators, the suspected car thief, aged around 14 years, was seen on camera running from where he had parked the Lamborghini Urus SUV.

One of the eyewitnesses to the theft was quoted by local new agencies saying, "He said, 'I stole a Lamborghini just now. I don't have a license. I can't drive.' I didn't know if he had a weapon. I wasn't sure how crazy he was. I was trying to talk and calm him down. He asked me for advice. He's like, 'I'm 14. I don't know what to do.' You're better off turning yourself in. They're going to go much, much easier on you.'"

The owner of the stolen Lamborghini later thanked the police for help. He eventually drove back his Urus SUV after the Miami Beach police officers took the teenage suspect in custody.

Located in the south of San Francisco, this is a 16,000 square feet mansion spreads over 47 acres of land. The property has 10 bedrooms and 10 baths and also has a ballroom, banquet room, pool and a garage for eight vehicles. It was purchased by Musk back in 2017 for an amount of $23.3 million. Reports say that this property was mainly used for rental events.

Describing it as a special place in a tweet, Musk said that he wanted to sell it to a large family who will live there. His current residence is in Boca Chica, Texas near his Space Exploration Technologies Corp. Starbase rocket manufacturing plant that he rents for $50,000. He moved there last year.

In 2020, he started selling his properties first with two of his Bel Air assets. Following this, it was also reported that Tesla CEO sold another of his five properties, out of which four of these were in Los Angeles and had a combined price of $62.5 million. One of these houses was dear Elon Musk as it belonged to the famous actor Gene Wilder, the lead actor in the 1971 fantasy film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

According to a UK media report, Musk has taken on this route to lessen criticisms of his wealth. He has also gone on record saying that possessions weigh one down. He said, "People say, "Hey, billionaire, you got all this stuff." "Well, now I don't have the stuff -- now what are you gonna do?"

Why your car insurance claims can get rejected



A car insurance can get rejected due to several reasons that can be avoided easily with little caution.
Drunk driving, driving without a licence, false declaration, fraudulent claims can lead to a rejection of insurance claim.

When we buy a car insurance policy, we come across several terms and conditions mentioned in the policy documents. These terms and conditions state what is covered under the policy, what is not and what could result in the rejection of a claim.

Usually, we tend to ignore reading those terms and conditions while purchasing the policy. But those small details often provide important information. It is always recommended to read the policy documents carefully to get the optimum benefit out of a car insurance policy.

Ignoring these small details can result in the rejection of a claim when required. This means the car owner might have to pay a hefty amount of money from his or her own pocket despite having a car insurance policy for covering the damage. Also, a claim rejection can hurt the car owner's claim reputation with the insurance company in future.

Here are some conditions that could result in the rejection of an insurance claim.

Missing insurance renewal

Renewal of car insurance policy on time is important to stay under the cover of the plan. SII-partner Novavax reports 90% efficacy, says focused first on developing countries

Novavax will prioritise developing countries for the initial supplies of its Covid-19 vaccine, the Chief Executive Officer of the American biotechnology company said on Monday.

The Maryland-headquartered company said its vaccine had demonstrated 100 per cent protection in late-stage trials against moderate and severe disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 -- a boost for the prospects of its Indian version, Covovax.

Overall, the efficacy of the vaccine was 90.4 per cent -- that is, it showed the ability to bring down symptomatic Covid-19 cases by more than 90 per cent compared with those who had not received a vaccine.

"It should be noted... that, given that we've got a commitment of 1.1 billion doses with COVAX along with our partner Serum Institute (of India), a lot of our first doses are going to go into low- and middle-income countries, as they should," CEO Stanley C Erck said in a conference call on Monday after announcing the vaccine's performance in phase 3 trials in the United States and Mexico.

Several high-income countries have already inoculated large sections of their populations with vaccines manufactured by other companies, even as low- and middle-income countries have been struggling with acute vaccine shortages.

Novavax, a small company that received huge support from the Trump administration's Operation Warp Speed last year, also plans to fulfill its advance purchase agreements (APAs) with "four or five" high-income countries.

"But in the very early days, it's going to be low- and middle-income countries," Erck said.

The company expects to "transition" next year from its APAs and commitment towards supplying vaccines to developed and underdeveloped countries to "eventually" provide its jabs as a "booster" dose.

"I think, particularly in the United States, our vaccine is going to be probably most importantly used as a booster," Erck said.

In the short run, Novavax has a "tiered" pricing scheme for lower-, upper-, and middle-income countries that are "in line" with most other manufacturers.

Uncle dumps Chirag Paswan, takes all LJP MPs, says wrong to have left NDA

The five MPs -- Pashupati Kumar Paras (Hajipur), Choudhary Mehboob Ali Qaisar (Khagaria), Chandan Kumar (Nawada), Veena Devi (Vaishali) and Prince Raj (Samastipur) --met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday evening and again on Monday, saying that they have elected Paras as LJP parliamentary party leader and Kaiser as deputy leader.

LESS THAN a year after Ram Vilas Paswan's death, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) that he founded in 2000 is headed for an imminent split with five of the party MPs rebelling against the sixth --Paswan's son and the party's national president, Chirag Paswan.

The five MPs -- Pashupati Kumar Paras (Hajipur), Choudhary Mehboob Ali Qaisar (Khagaria), Chandan Kumar (Nawada), Veena Devi (Vaishali) and Prince Raj (Samastipur) --met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday evening and again on Monday, saying that they have elected Paras as LJP parliamentary party leader and Kaiser as deputy leader. Late Monday night, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a circular confirming Paras as leader of the LJP in the Lok Sabha.

Of the five MPs, two are related to the Paswan family --Hajipur MP Paras is Ram Vilas Paswan's younger brother and Samastipur MP Prince Raj is Paras's nephew.


The series of dramatic events come months after the Bihar Assembly elections in October-November last year, in the run-up to which Chirag Paswan had attacked the JD(U) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and stepped out of the NDA, all along maintaining that he wanted to work with the BJP. The LJP had, however, fared poorly in the elections, with its lone MLA eventually crossing over to the JD(U).

On Monday, the rebel MPs, while making it clear that the five MPs want to rejoin the NDA, placed their confidence in "vikas purush" Nitish Kumar.

Speaking to reporters, Paras said, "It was everyone's desire that after 2014, we go with the NDA coalition. It was late Ram Vilas Paswan ji's final wish that the poor in the country, those from the weaker sections are uplifted... He is not among us anymore. I want this party to continue to live. Some anti-social elements entered our party and, rejecting the feelings of 99 per cent workers, broke the alliance with the NDA... The result of this was that in Bihar, the NDA alliance was weakened, and the party almost became extinct," Paras said.

Saying he has "no complaint" against Chirag, Paras said, "Chirag Paswan is a member of my family, is my nephew, and until now the national president of the party."

But within a few minutes of Paras saying this to the media, evidence of what is both a political and familial fallout became clear in the national Capital. By 11 30 am, Chirag was at 18, Rajendra Prasad Road, Paras's residence, where Prince Raj, Chirag's cousin, also stays.

For close to half an hour, the doors refused to open for Chirag, who stayed in his vehicle. Half an hour later, Chirag was taken to a waiting area, where he was told that neither of the two MPs were home. Two hours later, around 1.15 pm, Chirag, who was accompanied by former LJP MLA Raju Tiwari, left without meeting the leaders.

Paras held a separate meeting of rebel MPs at the residence of Vaishali MP Veena Devi. A source close to Chirag said, "Chirag has even offered a change in party leadership by suggesting the name of his mother Reena Paswan to lead the LJP."

Both Paras and his son Prince Raj have reportedly been upset with Chirag for not "valuing them" enough. Chirag's decision to bring in Raju Tiwari as party working president was seen as an attempt to curtail the influence of Prince Raj, who is also LJP state president.

With the latest developments, the new LJP is not expected to face any objections from the JD(U) in its bid to return to the NDA fold. Paras has long been in touch with JD(U) MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh. Officially, however, the JD(U) on Monday called the developments an "internal matter" of the party.

In Patna, JD(U) spokesperson and former minister Neeraj Kumar denied talk of his party having played a part in the LJP split, saying, "The name of our MP Lalan Singh has been unnecessarily dragged into this by the Opposition and the media. We have always valued LJP leader Pashupati Kumar Paras and had made him a minister in the Bihar government."

J&K activist behind bars for remarks on 'outsider' officers at janata durbar



The Lt Governor has initiated these public hearings or durbars across Kashmir to reach out to people. Top officers, including advisors to Sinha, attend the hearings and listen to the grievances and demands of public. However, Sajad Ahmad Sofi may be paying a price for speaking his mind.

AN activist who led a delegation to a public hearing held by one of the advisors of Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has spent the past four days in custody for apparently rubbing Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner Krittika Jyotsna the wrong way.

The Lt Governor has initiated these public hearings or durbars across Kashmir to reach out to people. Top officers, including advisors to Sinha, attend the hearings and listen to the grievances and demands of public. However, Sajad Ahmad Sofi may be paying a price for speaking his mind.

At the durbar held at Safapora village in Ganderbal on June 10, Sofi, who led a group of five-six members of a civil society group, told advisor Baseer Ahmad Khan that people could have expectations from local officials like him and seek answers from them. On the other hand, what could he hope from officers who belong to outside the region, Sofi told Khan.

Jyotsna, an IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh-cadre who was posted to the Union territory recently and was present at the hearing, strongly objected to what Sofi said.

Soon after the hearing , Sofi, who belongs to Safapora, was booked under Section 153A (promoting enmity between the groups) and jailed. After he was given bail by a local court on June 12, police held him under preventive detention for being a "threat to peace":

In its report submitted to the court and arguing against bail to Sofi, police said, "If the accused is released on bail at this time, he can harass the witnesses and can hinder the investigation in the case. Since the accused is impudent, he can coax the witnesses."

Giving an account of what happened on June 10, police in its report said, "During the meeting, a civil society group put forward its demands before the Advisor (Khan) sahib. The group... was led by Sajad Ahmad Sofi... While putting forward his demands before the Advisor sahib, he used the following words: 'Mein aapse umeed rakhta hoon. Chunki aap ik Kashmiri hain aur samajh sakte hain, aur mein aap ka gareban pakad sakta hoon aur aapse jawab-talab kar sakta hoon. Magar gair-riyasati afsaron se kya umeed rakh sakta hoon (I can have expectations from you because you are a Kashmiri and you can understand us. I can grab you by the collar and seek answers. But what expectations can I have from officers who are outsiders)?'."

The police report added that Jyotsna "stood up from her seat and strongly objected". "The circumstances of the incident and from the statements, a crime under 153A of the IPC is made... The accused has been arrested and his family has been informed. He is on police remand at the police station Safapora," the report said.

Section 153A of the IPC deals with 'promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc' and 'doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony'.

Justifying use of Section 153A, and Sofi's re-arrest following bail, for being a "threat to peace", Ganderbal SSP Suhail Munawar told The Indian Express: "He (Sofi) did tell the Honb'le Advisor all these things (that are mentioned in the police report). This is discrimination and falls well within the ambit of 153A... We subsequently re-arrested him because there was reasonable apprehension that he will create a law and order situation. So he was arrested under (Section) 107 and 105 etc. It is routine preventive action."

Only Sofi among the delegation had been arrested, Munawar stressed.

Khan had met several delegations that day, including those of transporters, traders, civil society members, Block Development Council members and religious leaders. When the meeting was about to end and Khan was preparing to leave, Sofi made the remarks that apparently angered the Deputy Commissioner.

Only Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will get glass back, Plus and vanilla to get plastic



According to a new rumor circulating South Korean portal Naver, Samsung will only bring a glass back to its Galaxy S22 Ultra while the S22 Plus and vanilla S22 will carry plastic rears. The new leak also suggests Samsung will employ an all-new back processing design for the S22 and S22 Plus which is said to look and feel as premium as glass.

The latest info on the Galaxy S22 series suggests the vanilla and Plus models will see smaller screen sizes compared to their predecessors at 6.06-inches and 6.55-inches respectively. The S22 Ultra will get a 6.81-inch diagonal and will be the only member in the series with an LTPO OLED screen allowing for better battery endurance and simultaneous high refresh rate and display resolution.

Samsung is also rumored to bring the new Exynos 2200 chipset with AMD GPU alongside a Qualcomm Snapdragon version for some markets.

New Xiaomi foldable to arrive in Q4 with Snapdragon 888



Xiaomi launched its first foldable smartphone in March, and now leaksters claim the company is already working on a follow-up. According to one source, the new device will stick to a Snapdragon 888 chipset, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 108MP camera, but will bring an improved hinge.

The whole internal structure of the next Mi Mix Fold is already being tested. The foldable itself will have an inward hinge and will have two displays - one big on the inside, built by Samsung and coming with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a smaller one on the outside with 90Hz, manufactured by Visionox.

There are a lot of unknowns about the future Mi Mix Fold smartphone like the cameras, the memory options and the MIUI version. More importantly will the new phone escape China, or will it remain bound to the domestic scene like the current Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold?

Toyota partially resumes operations at Karnataka plant



Toyota is working towards resuming production and says emphasis is on catering to pending orders.
The Toyota plant in Bidadi will currently operate at 50% of workforce strength.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Tuesday announced partial resumption of operations its manufacturing facility in Karnataka's Bidadi. The plant had to previously suspend work owing to restrictions in place across Karnataka due to Covid-19-related factors.

Toyota will operate the Bidadi facility at 50% workforce strength from Tuesday and underlined that all directive of the state and central governments would be adhered to. Significantly, the car maker further highlighted that it is committed to all measures and preparations that would allow for production to resume in order to cater to the demand for Toyota vehicles in the country. "Our focus will be to cater to pending orders that could not be met due to the non-production days of planned annual maintenance shutdown, followed by the lockdown announcement by the state Government," the press statement informed.

Toyota, much like most auto makers in the country, had had to suspend operations as the number of Covid-19 cases spiked across the country. It sold just 707 units in May, a month which was nightmarish for the Indian auto industry at large.

Toyota's operations in Bidadi has faced numerous obstacles over the past year. Karnataka has been especially hit by rising number of cases in both the first as well as second wave of the pandemic. Classification of Bidadi in the 'Red Zone' in the past meant that operations had to be suspended. Then there was a strike called by the employees' union which only ended in March after four months. The strike pertained to suspension orders given to one of the employees here. (Full report here).

But there may be some semblance of a silver lining moving forward. "We anticipate factors such as 'pent up' demand and the demand for personal mobility will continue to be quite significant as the markets start re-opening," Naveen Soni, Senior VP at TKM, had told HT Auto previously. "Vehicles in the small to mid-sized categories will see a spurt in demand from both rural and urban pockets. Passenger vehicle sales are expected to fare better in FY21-22 than FY20-21."

KTM 'World Adventure Week' announced for Indian customers

KTM has collaborated with the RISER app for the event.
The event will be held from July 5 to 11, 2021.
Each rider will need to clock over 1,000 km in a week on a motorcycle.




KTM India has announced 'The World Adventure Week', for motorcycle enthusiasts in India and across the globe. The event will commence on July 5th and will span seven days. The company says that the riders who are able to complete the challenges will be given daily rewards and weekly prizes. In addition to that, the winners will also get a chance to be featured on the company's global social media handles, as well as on theworldadventureweek.com website.

"It is an invitation for the riders to go fuel their adventurous spirit and explore the tarmacs, tracks, and trails," the company said in a recent press note.

KTM has collaborated with the RISER app for the event. In order to compete, the participants will need to download the app and start recording their rides. Each rider will need to clock over 1,000 km in a week on the motorcycle using the application. "This initiative offers a perfect opportunity to put some miles on your motorcycle," the company added.

Over 3.3 million Volkswagen, Audi customers' personal data breached



Compromised data of Volkswagen and Audi customers, in majority cases, included phone numbers and email addresses.
In some cases, sensitive data related to vehicle purchase or lease eligibility was also impacted.

A data breach at a vendor of the Volkswagen Group affected more than 3.3 million customers and prospective buyers of the Volkswagen and Audi brands in North America. Around 3.1 million customers or interested buyers were affected in the US and approximately 163,000 in Canada.

An unauthorized third party obtained limited personal information about current and potential customers of the brands from the dealer. The third party gathered information for sales and marketing between 2014 and 2019 from an electronic file that was left unsecured at the vendor.

Data in the record for majority of people included phone numbers and email addresses and in some cases, data also included information about a vehicle purchased, leased, or inquired about.

Affected people included about 90,000 Audi customers and prospective buyers whose sensitive data relating to purchase or lease eligibility was impacted. The carmaker said it will offer free credit protection services to those individuals. In cases where sensitive information was compromised, the data included driver license numbers. A small number of records included additional data like dates of birth, Social Security numbers and account numbers.

The Volkswagen Group' dealers that use the Enterprise Lead Management (ELM) program offered through Shift Digital will face the data breach, Auto News reported citing Audi of America president, Daniel Weissland. "The information "does not affect all dealers, but will affect most, if not all," Weissland added.

Volkswagen believes that the data was obtained at some point between August 2019 and May of this year, when the automaker identified the source of the incident. The company also stated that for people affected in Canada, no sensitive information was breached.

BMW Motorrad India rides in 2021 S1000R naked superbike at ₹17.90 lakh



The Indian-spec BMW S1000R is identical to the unit sold in the international markets.
BMW S1000R is a rival to the recently launched Ducati Streetfighter V4 naked sports bike.

BMW Motorrad India on Tuesday announced the launch of the 2021 S1000R naked sports bike in the country starting at ₹17,90,000 (ex-showroom). It has been launched in India as a completely built-up unit (CBU). The company has also started accepting bookings on the new motorcycle at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships starting from today.

The all-new S1000R has been made available in three trims - Standard, Pro and Pro M Sport. While the base Standard trim costs ₹17.90 lakh, the higher Pro and Pro M Sport cost ₹19.75 lakh and ₹22.50 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.

The new S1000R has been offered in a range of colour options. Apart from the basic Racing Red non-metallic colour, its Style Sport option comes with the basic colour Hockenheim Silver metallic, in combination with Matt Copper metallic components such as the rear frame section and engine side covers as well as grey anodised components that emphases the technical highlights of the roadster. There is also an M Motorsport paint finish that is available with the Style Sport and the M package options.

The new S1000R comes out as a heavily reworked version of its predecessor. Apart from an all-new exterior styling, the bike has also been given an updated powertrain and a new set of electronics features. It benefits from a 6.5 inch TFT multifunctional instrument panel that is said to display crisp and quality information on the go. It is also offered with four modes 'Rain', 'Road', 'Dynamic' and ' Dynamic Pro ' as standard. These riding modes have been configured to adjust the performance and safety features such as Engine (throttle), Engine Brake, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, ABS and ABS Pro to suit the rider's own skill level.

At the heart of the bike sits a Euro 5/BS 6-compliant 999cc, inline-four cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This unit delivers 165bhp of maximum power at 11,000 rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. The engine comes paired to a six-speed gearbox.

Tesla Model 3 spied testing in Pune ahead of India launch. Watch here



Tesla Model 3 is expected to be the first officially launched vehicle in India from the US EV manufacturer.
Tesla Model 3 is expected to be priced at around ₹60 lakh in India.

It is not a usual sight to spot a Tesla Model 3 on Indian roads. However, the car is ready to launch in the country officially. Tesla is testing the electric compact sedan ahead of that. Recently, a blue coloured Tesla Model 3 was spotted in Pune while testing. A video was uploaded on social platforms revealing several details of the car.

As the video shows it is a dual-motor variant. The particular test vehicle gets an electric motor powering each axle and sending power to all four wheels. It gets 18-inch wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Performance tyres along with an aero kit that increases the electric range slightly.

However, it is not sure if Tesla will sell the Model 3 in India with an all-wheel-drive system. The India-spec Model 3 is likely to get a rear-wheel-drive system. It will compete with rivals like Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE.

Tesla Model 3 is likely to be priced at around ₹60 lakh in India. The EV maker is yet to reveal the specification of the India-spec Model 3. The international market-spec Model 3 is available in three variants.

The base variant is Standard Range Plus with a 423 km range and 0-100 kmph acceleration capability in 5.3 seconds at a top speed of 225 kmph. Long Range is the mid-variant with a 568 km range and a top speed of 233 kmph. It can accelerate 0-100 kmph in 4.2 seconds. Performance is the top trim that gets 506 km range and has a top speed of 260 kmph. It can hit a ton from a standstill in 3.1 seconds.

The electric car manufacturer imported three Tesla Model 3 sedans in India. The blue Model 3 spotted testing is one of them. These three Model 3 were imported here for testing, validation and homologation. These will be used by the Automotive Research of India (ARAI) for approvals and other compliances.

Tesla Model 3 is the most affordable electric car from the US automobile brand. The Model 3 is expected to be Tesla's first car to officially launch in India.

Tesla is expected to bring the Model 3 in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from its China plant. However, if the product receives enough positive response, then Tesla would bring the car as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit. Local manufacturing will certainly reduce the cost drastically. But as of now, that seems unlikely.

Bürstner, a recreational vehicle manufacturer, has come up with a new Bürstner Lyseo Gallery, the first motorhome that features an elevated over-cab area. Based on the company's principle of 'travel small, live large', this motorhome with its unique look and luxurious interiors has the potential to become camp lovers' go-to vehicle.

The Lyseo Gallery is the first model from the company to bring together the positives of a coachbuilt and an over-cab bed model. When the vehicle is parked the 'Gallery Roof' can be elevated in 90 seconds with the help of compressed air and a specially developed air chamber system that takes the vehicle's maximum body height to around 3.7 metres. However, while moving, this second level can be lowered completely which gives the vehicle a silhouette of a low profile coachbuilt. It also consumes less fuel in this condition. Since the second floor elevates vertically, it provides ample headspace. It also constitutes an XXL comfort size sleeping berth with a mobile phone charging station, a table and a seat and fixed stairs.

The brand said that the interior design of the Lyseo Gallery was inspired by the decor of a gentlemen's club that comprises chartreuse-coloured Burlington-type quilted buffalo leather and shag carpet. The kitchen's functional elements are electrically controlled. It has a pop-up coffee machine, a retractable extractor fan, a bar, electrically controlled drawers and a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip that can centrally lock all the movable kitchen elements before the vehicle hits ignition. With a considerable size washroom, the Lyseo Gallery aims to make the user feel at home.

Bürstner hasn't provided any technical details of this recreational motorhome but intends to go into series production soon.

Honor could join the foldable market soon with the Honor Magic Fold



Former Huawei subsidiary Honor could be getting ready to join the growing list of smartphone producers that have a foldable display smartphone in their product lineup. Samsung, Google, and Oppo are among the leading lights in this segment of the market, and there are indications that Honor could also unveil its own smartphone with a foldable display.

According to reports culled from the latest edition of the Display Supply Chain Consultants, Honor is planning to unveil its first foldable smartphone in 2022. The report indicates that the upcoming Honor Magic Fold could rival some of the foldable models already listed for unveiling later this year. Samsung could release two foldable Galaxy smartphones by August 2021.

Honor is leveraging on its new status as an independent entity from Huawei. This means that it could access foldable display technology from suppliers without much restriction. Visionox and BOE are tipped to be the likely suppliers of the foldable display that would adorn the device.

Not much is known about the forthcoming Honor magic fold. Honor has also not made any official statement relating to an impending foldable smartphone. Indeed, much of the news remains speculation, and this includes its projected name of Honor Magic Fold.
However, we expect the rumor to be credible and authentic.

Honor has continued to blossom in the wake of its sale by Huawei in 2020. It will hope to make a strong statement with its entry into the foldable display market already primed for a possible Samsung domination. Samsung is known to be developing several foldable display technologies, going by the number of patents it has already secured. OPPO Reno6 Pro FCC certified, may debut as a rebranded phone



OPPO announced the OPPO Reno6 5G, Reno6 Pro 5G, and Reno6 Pro+ 5G smartphones in China last month. Speculations are rife that these phones will be hitting the global markets in July. Fresh information reveals that the Reno6 Pro+ has received certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. The FCC listing is a good hint that the global launch of the Reno6 series could be approaching near.

In the recent past, an OPPO phone with model number CPH2247 was spotted at certification platforms such as EEC (Europe), TKDN (Indonesia), SIRM (Malaysia), and NBTC (Thailand). The latter revealed that this device may launch with the OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G moniker. Now, the CPH2247 model has received approval from the FCC authority (via).

The FCC listing reveals that the OPPO CPH2247 measures 160.8 x 72.5 x 7.99mm and weighs 188 grams. The phone runs on ColorOS v11.3 and it has a 4,400mAh rated battery (4,500mAh typical value). The listing also reveals that the device carries support for 65W rapid charging.

It can be said based on the NBTC listing that the CPH2247 could be launching as the Reno6 Pro. However, the dimensions of the Reno6 Pro do not match CPH2247's dimensions.

The Reno6 Pro that debuted in China measures 160 x 73.1 x 7.6mm and weighs 177 grams. On the other side, the Chinese Reno6 Pro+ has 160.8 x 72.5 x 8mm dimensions and weighs 188 grams. Hence, there is a possibility that the Snapdragon 870 powered Reno6 Pro+ could be rebranded as the Reno6 Pro in global markets. Hopefully, newer reports will reveal further details of the CPH2247 handset through which it can be ascertained whether the company really rebadge the Chinese Reno6 Pro+ as Reno6 Pro in global markets.

Apple Watch Series 7 tipped to feature blood glucose and body temperature sensors

OPPO Reno6 Z key specifications leaked, hints at global launch of Reno6 series



OPPO reportedly gearing up to bring the Reno6 series of smartphones in global markets. Fresh information reveals that the company could be planning to launch a phone named Reno6 Z in some markets. This handset is expected to arrive as the successor to the Reno5 Z that debuted in April this year. A fresh leak has revealed the key specifications of the Reno6 Z handset.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Reno6 Z has a regular 60Hz refresh rate supporting display and it is powered by the Dimensity 800U chipset. There is no word on the battery capacity of the Reno6 Z, but the leak claims that it will carry support for 30W charging.

These specifications are also available on the predecessor model. There is a possibility that the Reno6 Z could be coming with improvements in other departments like cameras or battery capacity. In related news, an OPPO phone with a CPH2247 model number has bagged FCC certification. Initial reports claimed that it is the global version of the Reno6 Pro. However, the FCC listing suggests that China's Reno6 Pro+ 5G may get rebadged as the Reno6 Pro in global markets. So far, the Reno6 series phones are only available in China. The FCC certification of Reno6 Pro and the new leak of Reno6 Z suggests that the company could be soon bringing the Reno6 lineup to global markets.

Samsung's LPDDR5 uMCP offers flagship experience to low-cost smartphones



Samsung Electronics has announced that it has begun mass producing the latest memory solution, LPDDR5 UFS-based multichip package (uMCP). It integrates the fastest LPDDR5 DRAM with the latest UFS 3.1 NAND flash, delivering flagship-level performance to a much broader range of smartphone users.

The South Korean giant reveals that this new uMCP can deliver lightning-fast speed and high storage capacity at very low power. This would allow more consumers to immerse themselves in numerous 5G applications that were previously only available on premium flagship models. Such features include advanced photography, graphics-intensive gaming and augmented reality (AR).

The flagship-level capabilities are made possible by a nearly 50 percent improvement in DRAM performance, from 17 gigabytes per second (GB/s) to 25GB/s, and a doubling of NAND flash performance, from 1.5GB/s to 3GB/s, over the previous LPDDR4X-based UFS 2.2 solution.

It also helps in maximizing space-efficiency within a smartphone by integrating DRAM and NAND storage into a single compact package that measures only 11.5mm x 13mm, allowing more space for other features.

With DRAM capacities ranging from 6GB to 12GB and storage options from 128GB to 512GB, the Samsung uMCP can be easily customized to accommodate the diverse needs of 5G smartphones throughout the mid- and high-end segments.

So far, Samsung has successfully completed compatibility testing of the LPDDR5 uMCP with several global smartphone manufacturers and expects the uMCP-equipped devices to hit mainstream markets starting this month.

DJI Mini SE leak reveals it could be the company's cheapest drone at $299



DJI, the world's leading company when it comes to drones, is reportedly gearing up to launch a new product, dubbed DJI Mini SE. Based on the new leaks, it appears that the device could be the company's cheapest drone yet.

The leak, coming from Walmart, is expected to have a starting price of $299. Apart from the upcoming product listing on the Walmart website, the device has already shipped to at least one set of Walmart Store shelves.

It seems that the upcoming drone isn't the low-cost model of the DJI Mini 2 but appears to be the less-expensive model of the first-generation DJI Mavic Mini which was launched in the year 2019.

As for the specifications, the product is likely to come with support for the 2.7K-resolution camera (as opposed to the 4K) and 2.5-mile wireless range. This points to the Mini SE not having support for Ocusync.

From what some of the users on Reddit suggest, the primary differences between the upcoming model and the original models seem to be a $100 lower price and a slightly improved plastic chassis.

The pricing is expected to be $299, which appears to be pretty good for a new drone from the company. With its shape, size, and weight, the device can easily be stuffed in a bag to be carried around and won't need to be registered with the FAA.

Xiaomi is expanding team for its Electric Vehicles business

A couple of months ago, in March this year, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi officially announced the commencement of its smart electric vehicle business. Now, a new report coming from China says that the firm is looking to expand its team.

Xiaomi has opened up several new positions in the company which include categories like Data Platforms, Vehicle-Mounted Infrastructure, Decision & Planning, Millimeterwave Algorithms, Development Tools, Front-End Development, Embedded Software, High-Precision Maps, Simulation, etc.

Further, the job listing for all the positions shows that the work address is based in Haidian, Beijing. Earlier, the company had said that the Xiaomi Research & Development Headquarters will be located in Beijing but this hasn't been confirmed by the firm.

The company has set up a new wholly-owned subsidiary to work on electric vehicles and related business. Initially, it plans to invest around 10 billion yuan (~$1.5 billion) but over a period of 10 years, Xiaomi would have invested more than $10 billion for this new category of business.

Lei Jun, who is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Xiaomi Group, will also serve as the Chief Executive Officer for this new smart electric vehicles entity. It's likely that the smart car from Xiaomi will be a consumer product and will be targeted at mass market.

The company was earlier rumored to partner with China's Great Wall Motor Co Ltd and use its factory for building its own electric car. But after the company rejected to partner with Xiaomi, Lei Jun recently visited the Great Wall Motor's Research and Development Center in China but the outcome of the recent visit has not been revealed yet.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G's new renders and Geekbench listing emerge ahead of launch



OnePlus is speculated to launch the OnePlus Nord N200 5G today (June 15). Ahead of the alleged launch, reliable tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore has shared new renders of the smartphone. In addition, the handset has also appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking site.

The OnePlus Nord N200 5G's new renders show the phone in silver and black colors. The phone features a punch-hole screen, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a rectangle-shaped camera module on the back.



The N200 has appeared with its DE2117 model number on the benchmarking site. The Geekbench listing of the phone shows that it is equipped with Snapdragon 480 chipset (mentioned with "holi" codename), 4 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. It scored 511 in the single-core test of Geekbench, and it scored 1615 in its multi-core test.


OnePlus Nord N200 5G specifications

The OnePlus Nord N200 5G's recent leak by reputed tipster Evan Blass revealed that it has a 6.49-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate, SD480 chip, 4 GB LPDDR4x RAM, 64 GB of UFS 2.1 storage, a microSD card slot, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging.

The N200's rear camera setup has a 13-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, it has a 16-megapixel front camera. The other features that sum up of the phone are dual SIM support with 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The OnePlus Nord N200 5G is expected to remain exclusive to markets like the U.S. and Canada. It could be the cheapest 5G phone from the brand as it is expected to arrive with a sub-$250 price tag.

It isn't clear whether Xiaomi would commercially launch a phone with such a design




Xiaomi seems to be working on a unique smartphone design with a curved screen that has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, according to the patent the company has filed with the United States Patent Application Publication, as spotted by 91mobiles. It was filed back in March 2020 and was published on June 3rd 2021. The patent shows a Xiaomi phone with an edge-to-edge display on the front, meaning it might be a premium phone. The design shows it has a fingerprint sensor placed for security right at the corner, where the screen curves. Interestingly, the fingerprint sensor is embedded under the curved display instead of on a separate housing that is part of the frame, like we see on phones like Realme X3 SuperZoom and Xiaomi Mi 10i.

Considering most curved screen phones have AMOLED panels, the fingerprint sensors are usually placed underneath the display for comfortable access. However, Xiaomi seems to want to introduce a curved display with an IPS LCD panel and since they can't have the fingerprint sensor placed within the panel, its best alternative is to place it on the side as keeping it on the back would make it slightly hard to reach considering curved display phones are tall in comparison to regular phones. The patent sketches don't reveal other design elements of the phone just yet.

Since the design is still in the patent stage, we can't tell for sure whether a commercial phone with a similar design will ever launch. But this should be a major push for budget and mid-range phones that come with IPS LCD panels and, thus, can't have in-display fingerprint sensors.

According to previous leaks, we know that two of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 model numbers are SM-R870 and SM-R875U. Today, we have spotted the listing of the same models of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 on the FCC certification platform, which not only confirms the existence of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 but also reveals a few of its key specifications.

The FCC listing reveals that the SM-R870 is the Wi-Fi-only model of the Galaxy Watch Active 4, whereas, the SM-R875U is the LTE variant of the Galaxy Watch Active 4. According to the listing, the Wi-Fi-only, as well as the LTE variants of the Galaxy Watch Active 4, have dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth, and NFC. Additionally, one of the pages, reveals that the LTE variant of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 has GNSS and wireless charging. We are hoping that the Wi-Fi-only model will also have these two features. Lastly, the FCC listing reveals that the LTE variant has an EB-BR890ABY battery and EP-OR825 wireless charger, which suggests the upcoming smartwatch could support 5W charging.

Yesterday, the LTE variant of the Galaxy Watch 4, bearing the model number SM-R885U was spotted on FCC. Today, we have spotted the SM-R890 model of the Galaxy Watch 4 on the FCC platform. Going by the FCC listing, the SM-R890 is the Wi-Fi-only model of the Galaxy Watch 4. The platform reveals that the Galaxy Watch 4 has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GNSS, and wireless charging. Moreover, the listing reveals that this variant of the Galaxy Watch 4 comes with an EB-BR890ABY battery and EP-OR825 wireless charger, which is the same as the Galaxy Watch Active 4.

Realme X9 price and specifications have been tipped already and it now looks like the phone will indeed launch in India. The phone has been spotted listed on the Realme India website, suggesting the phone's launch could be right around the corner. The Realme X9 Pro, however, has not made an appearance yet. This comes after the Realme 9, Realme XT 3, and Realme GT 2 were spotted on the Realme India website earlier this month. The Realme X9 series will succeed the Realme X7 series from last year. Unfortunately, the listing doesn't tell much else about the Realme X9 at the moment.

Realme X9 series specifications (rumoured)

Realme X9 (Realme RMX3366) specifications were listed on TENAA certification recently. It is said to sport a 6.55-inch display, probably with FHD+ resolution. The phone is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 778G SoC and boot Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 custom skin on top. It is said to pack a 2,200mAh battery (combined capacity of 4,400mAh) and have fast-charging support. Connectivity options could include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C for charging and data sync.

On the other hand, the Realme X9 Pro is said to flaunt a 6.55-inch Samsung E3 Super AMOLED display with a micro-curved screen and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer. Two versions of the Realme X9 Pro have been tipped, one with the Snapdragon 870 SoC and one with Dimensity 1200. The latter is said to launch globally as the OnePlus Nord 2. The phone could also pack a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast-charging support. Moving to optics, the Realme X9 Pro is tipped to come with a triple camera setup at the back, with a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP B&W sensor. A 32MP sensor on the front is also expected. The phone will be equipped with dual speakers, Dolby sound, Z-axis linear speaker, and NFC.


Realme X9 price (expected)

The Realme X9 is tipped to be priced between RMB 2,000 (around Rs 22,800) and RMB 2,500 (approx Rs 28,500). You can expect the phone's India price to be along the same lines.

Paytm app now lets you book COVID vaccine appointment: how to book vaccine slot on Paytm

The service also allowed people to get notified whenever a vaccination slot opens up in their desired area. Now, Paytm is adding a much-awaited feature to the Vaccine Finder service. The Paytm app now allows you to book COVID vaccination appointment as well. So, you can now search for the vaccination slots and also book an appointment from the Paytm app in a single go. Here is a step-by-step process to book a COVID vaccine appointment in India using Paytm.

How to book COVID vaccination slot using Paytm

Step 1 - Open the Paytm app, scroll down to the 'Featured' section, and click on 'Vaccine Finder'.
Step 2 - You will now see a window from where you can find an available COVID vaccination slot. To search for the slots, enter your PIN Code (or state and district) and your age. You will also have to select if the appointment that you are booking is for the first dose or the second dose. Once you enter those details, click on 'Check availability.'
Step 3 - The app will now ask you to enter the mobile number that you want to use for booking the COVID vaccination appointment. Once you enter the mobile number, you will receive a one-time password (OTP) on the mobile number you just entered. Now type the OTP in the box you see on the screen and click on 'Submit.'

Step 4 - Paytm will now show you a list of available COVID vaccination slots. You will have to select a slot at a hospital of your choice on your desired date.
Step 5 - The app will now show you a list of time slots during which you can take the vaccine. You will have to select a time slot of your choice.
Step 6 - Above the time slots section, you will be able to see a list of your beneficiaries. Select the person from the list for whom you are booking the COVID vaccination slot and click on 'Schedule Now'. Voila! You have just booked a COVID vaccination appointment using Paytm.


Note that if the person for whom you are booking the COVID vaccination slot isn't shown in the list of people, you can add them manually to the list. To do so, click on "Add New" and enter their details. Now select the person from the list of people shown in the appointment booking window. Once you book the COVID vaccination slot, you will get a message (SMS) on the registered mobile number confirming that an appointment for the vaccine has been booked.

Realme Buds Q2 launching soon in India with Active Noise Cancellation



Realme recently announced it's bringing the Narzo 30 4G and 5G smartphones to India this month, and now the company has revealed it will launch the Buds Q2 TWS earphones in the Asian country soon.

Realme hasn't revealed the Buds Q2's launch date yet, but we believe the TWS earphones will be introduced in India alongside the vanilla Narzo 30.

The Realme Buds Q2 were unveiled in April in Pakistan, but the ones you'll get in India will come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), unlike the Pakistani model that features Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC), which isn't as effective as ANC at cutting out noise.



It's currently unclear if that will be the only upgrade the Indian Buds Q2 will get, or if there will be more, like the microUSB port being replaced with USB-C. Although that's a bit too much to expect considering the affordable price tag the Buds Q2 are expected to carry.

If there aren't any other changes, you can expect the Buds Q2 in India to come with 10mm Bass Boost Drivers, low-latency Gaming Mode (88ms), gesture control, IPX4 water resistance, and 20 hours of total playback.

That said, the Buds Q2 TWS earphones flaunt a Kaleidoscope design, which is something we don't see in the image shared by Realme on its official Indian website. It looks like the Buds Air 2 Neo introduced in April with ANC, leading us to believe the Indian Buds Q2 will be a rebranded Buds Air 2 Neo.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G pops up on Geekbench



An unknown OnePlus device sporting model code DE2117 and believed to be the Nord N200 5G has popped up on Geekbench with key specs.

The DE2117 runs Android 11 and has 4GB RAM on board, while the motherboard section lists "holi" and the CPU section reveals the processor consists of 6x 1.80GHz cores and 2x 2.04GHz cores, suggesting the device is powered by the Snapdragon 480 SoC.

Geekbench doesn't divulge any other specs of the DE2117, but a recent Nord N200 5G leak revealed the smartphone's design and complete specifications, leaving little to the imagination.

The leak claims that the OnePlus Nord N200 5G is built around a 6.49" 90Hz FullHD+ LCD with a punch hole in the top-left corner for the 16MP selfie camera. Around the back, it has a triple camera setup comprising 13MP primary, 2MP macro, and 2MP monochrome units.

Under the hood, the Nord N200 5G has a Snapdragon 480 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone will boot Android 11-based OxygenOS out of the box and have a microSD card slot for storage expansion by up to 256GB.

The Nord N200 5G will be fueled by a 5,000 mAh battery charged through a USB-C port at up to 18W. The rest of the Nord N200 5G's leaked specs include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, dual-band GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, and 5G connectivity.

We don't have the Nord N200 5G's launch date yet, but last month, OnePlus CEO Mr. Pete Lau said the smartphone is coming soon, and it will be exclusive to the US and Canada.

Amazon Luna game streaming service goes invite free for Prime Day



Amazon launched its very own game streaming service, Luna, last year, but it's been an invite-only affair so far. That's set to change on June 21 and 22, however.

Those are the days during which Amazon is running its Prime Day event, and to mark the occasion, Prime members will be able to get access to Luna without an invite, and play free for 7 days with a Luna+ free trial.

After those 7 days, you'll pay $5.99 per month as long as Luna is in the "early access" phase. There's no telling how long this will last, but Amazon will notify you at least 30 days before it ends and the price goes up.

You can also subscribe to the Ubisoft+ channel beta for $14.99 per month - this price is also likely to get a hike once the beta period ends, but again, you'll be notified 30 days in advance.

Luna works in mainland US only, on compatible Fire TV, Windows PC, and Mac devices, as well as through apps on iPhones, iPads, and "select Android phones". Honor launches MagicBook X 14 and X 15 with 10th Gen Intel processors



Honor just unveiled a new series of its MagicBook notebook series named MagicBook X. The series starts with two aluminum-clad ultrabooks - the MagicBook X 14 and X 15.

Both notebooks run on Intel's 10th Generation processors and it's a choice between the Core i5-10210U and the Core i3-10110U with either 8GB or 16GB of DDR4 memory. They PCIe NVMe SSDs can either have 256GB or 512GB capacity.

Interestingly enough, both laptops sport a 56Wh battery that supports up to 65W fast charging over the USB-C connector. The MagicBook X 14 gets a 14" 16:9 1080p IPS display, while the X 15 increases the diagonal to 15.6". They both come with TUV Rheinland certification for being flicker-free and producing low blue light levels.



The two MagicBook X laptops get the same set of ports - USB-A 3.0 Gen1, USB-C, USB-A 2.0, full-sized HDMI and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The 14-inch model weighs about 1.38kg while the 15-inch tips the scales at 1.56kg. The former also has thinner bezels - the top and side borders measure 4.8mm while the 15-inch device has 5.8mm bezels.

The press release specifically mentions only Russian availability. The MateBook X 14 starts at RUB 49,990 ($690) and the MateBook X 15 asks RUB 52,990 ($730) and both laptops are available starting today.

EV charging infrastructure in Delhi set to be expanded, govt approves plan



The single window facility can be used for rapid installation of thousands of EV chargers at apartments and group housing societies, institutional buildings like hospitals and commercial spaces like malls and theatres.

Delhi's hospitals, malls, theatres and residential complexes will soon see expansion of the national capital's electric vehicle charging infrastructure to encourage customers to switch to electric vehicles. The state government has approved a single window facility to expand the EV charging network in the city on Monday.

Jasmine Shah, vice chairman of Dialogue and Development Commission, said, "The Delhi govt has approved an innovative, single window process for quick and efficient installation of EV chargers. This is in response to requests we have been receiving especially from apartment societies, RWAs, mall owners among others."

The power discom representatives have already presented a roll-out plan which would help Delhi residents to request installation of an EV charging station at their premises either through an online portal or by making a phone call.

According to the plan, purchase of charging equipment up to ₹6,000 per charging point for the first 30,000 charging points will get a 100 per cent grant. This is according to the mandate of the Delhi Electric Vehicle policy.

According to the plan, the single window facility will help rapid installation of EV chargers at apartments and group housing societies, hospitals and commercial spaces like malls and theatres.

"Delhi will soon be the only city in the world where anyone can get an EV charger installed and get government subsidy by making a single phone call or applying online," Shah was quoted by news agency PTI.

A panel of vendors will be approved by the power discoms, who will then install the EV charging stations. The Delhi government also aims to provide subsidy to the consumer and meter installation based on EV tariff.

Hyundai, General Motors push for flying cars as taxis by 2025



Hyundai is developing flying taxis powered by electric batteries that can transport five to six people from highly congested urban centres to airports.
In January this year, General Motors had unveiled a flying Cadillac concept.

Global carmakers Hyundai Motor and General Motors are serious about developing flying cars. While Hyundai is optimistic to have the air taxi service to be operational in 2025, General Motor said it will take another nine years for their air taxi service to be a reality.

"Hyundai is ahead of the schedule for air mobility vehicle launches," Hyundai's global chief operating officer, Jose Munoz, said in an interview broadcast on Monday at the Reuters Events Car of the Future conference.

Munoz, who is also CEO of Hyundai North America, previously said urban air taxis would operate at major US airports in 2028 and possibly earlier. He told Reuters on Monday that it might be before 2025.

"We see this market as a significant growth opportunity," Munoz said, adding that he was "very confident" in the development of the technology.

Hyundai is developing an electric battery-powered air taxi that can transport five to six people from the heavily congested city center to the airport. Hyundai has a dedicated Urban Air Mobility Division led by Jaiwon Shin, a former NASA engineer. The Korean carmaker has already pledged to invest about $1.5 billion in urban air mobility by 2025.

General Motors had showcased a futuristic flying Cadillac, a self-driving vehicle which takes off and lands vertically and carries the passenger above the streets and through the air, in January during CES 2021 event.

The single-passenger Cadillac - technically, a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone - will be able to travel from urban rooftop to urban rooftop at speeds up to 55 miles per hour.

"I think there's a long way to go here," said Pamela Fletcher, vice president of GM's Global Innovation team, at the Reuters event . "2030 is probably a real commercial turning point."

"This is a very new space. There is a lot of work to be done on the regulatory side, as well as the actual technology side."

Zero-emissions aircraft, which take off and land like helicopters and carry both passengers and cargo, are being developed by a number of start-ups as well as aircraft manufacturers and car manufacturers. However, they face a long road to profitability.

Other automakers developing flying cars, either alone or with start-ups, include Toyota, Daimler AG and Geely Automobile Holdings.

Rush lane: Close to 5,000 cars enter Shimla after Himachal Pradesh eases Covid-19 rules



Cars lined up for several miles to enter Shimla from the Shoghi barrier over the weekend.
Himachal Pradesh government has relaxed the rule which required a negative RT-PCR test report for tourists to enter the state.

Following the Himachal Pradesh government's announcement that Covid-19 RT-PCR negative tests are no longer required to enter the state, tourists were seen flocking to Shimla on the weekend.

According to Mohit Chawla, Superintendent of Police (SP), Shimla, at least 5,000 vehicles entered Shimla from the Shoghi barrier on Saturday and Sunday.

"There is a huge influx of tourists after the state government relaxed Covid guidelines. We anticipated the increase in the tourist movement during the weekend, but what is heartening to note is that people are following Covid protocols," he said.

The SP informed that a total of 10 additional police reserves are deployed in the whole district along with traffic police to manage the influx of tourist vehicles.

"Around two and a half to three reserves are stationed alone in Shimla city along with city police to manage the tourists. Patrolling parties are guiding the tourists and we are requesting them to follow Covid protocols," he added.


On Friday, the Himachal Pradesh government under the new guidelines lifted Section 144 in the state and now negative RT-PCR tests are no longer required to cross the state borders.

However, the state has extended the 'Corona curfew' till 6 am on 14th June but with relaxed norms. Now intrastate public transport is allowed to operate with 50 per cent occupancy and shop timings have been increased from 9 am to 5 pm.

On Sunday, roads leading to the state saw massive congestion, bringing traffic to a standstill.

Himachal Pradesh reported 326 new Covid-19 cases, 664 discharges, and 7 deaths on Monday. Total cases in the state have reached 1,98,876, while the death toll has crossed 3382.

Land Rover developing Defender SUV prototype powered by hydrogen fuel cell



Jaguar Land Rover will start testing a Defender SUV prototype that is powered by hydrogen fuel cell by the end of this year.
The hydrogen-based Land Rover Defender prototype is part of JLR's efforts to reduce emissions to zero by 2036.

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it is working on a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) based on the Land Rover Defender SUV. The prototype Defender SUV, powered by hydrogen fuel cell, will begin testing later this year.

Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles generate electricity from hydrogen to power an electric motor. It is seen as an alternative to battery-powered electric vehicles. The FCEV concept is part of Jaguar Land Rover's aim to achieve zero emissions by 2036.

Jaguar Land Rover's advanced engineering project, known as Project Zeus, is part funded by the UK government-backed Advanced Propulsion Center. The prototype Defender FCEV testing aims to verify key attributes such as off-road capability and fuel consumption.

Jaguar Land Rover has teamed up with Delta Motorsport, AVL, Marelli Automotive Systems and the UK Battery Industrialization Center (UKBIC) to research, develop and create the Defender prototype SUV powered by hydrogen fuel cell.

Hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicles are claimed to be ideal for large, longer-range vehicles, or for vehicles which often run in hot or cold environments. These vehicles can provide high energy density and rapid refuelling, and minimal loss of range in low temperatures.

According to reports, fuel cell electric vehicles has nearly doubled since 2018, while hydrogen refuelling stations have increased by more than 20 per cent. It is projected that in the next nine years hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicles could top 10 million with 10,000 refuelling stations worldwide.

2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R goes on sale in Indonesian market



The new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R has received several styling revisions and new paint options.

Kawasaki has launched the new 2021 Ninja ZX-10R sports bike in the Indonesian market. The litre-class superbike has been priced at IDR 520,000,000 (equivalent to ₹26.67 lakh). For the record, the same bike has been priced at ₹14.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.

With the latest update, the new ZX-10R has received new design and styling revisions along with fresh paint options. In addition to that, the bike has also received new mechanical updates. The bike now uses a Euro5/BS 6-compliant 998cc, in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This unit has been rated to produce 200 bhp (210bhp with RAM Air) of maximum power at 13,200 rpm, this is backed up by 114 Nm of peak torque at 11,400rpm. The engine comes paired with a six-speed transmission. Kawasaki has reworked the gear ratios and installed a new oil cooler. In addition to that, it has also received a revised exhaust system and electronic throttle valves.

On the outside, the new Ninja ZX-10R receives a redesigned front fascia with aerodynamic winglets added to the upper cowl of the motorcycle. It now benefits from a sharper-looking headlight design, a new tail cowl, along with the Kawasaki River Mark. In order to give the bike a more aggressive stance, the bike has been given a revised handlebar and footpeg position. Some of the key features of the updated motorcycle include full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled 4.3-inch TFT colour instrument cluster.

Its key riding aids and safety features include a traction control system, cornering management function, cruise control, power modes, launch control, riding modes, engine brake control, and a bidirectional quick-shifter.

Petrol and diesel prices remain at record levels on Tuesday



Petrol and diesel prices remain at all-time record levels across the country.
Among metropolitan cities, petrol prices are highest in Mumbai.

Petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged on Tuesday but this has hardly come as much of a relief as the rates remain at all-time record levels across the country. With petrol price well into triple digits in many parts of the country and diesel also entering the three-digit mark in some places, fuel rate hikes over the past several weeks have led to a lot of hardships for people at large.

A litre of petrol in Delhi is at ₹96.4 while a litre of diesel costs ₹87.28. In Mumbai, petrol is being sold at ₹102.58 for each litre while the rate is ₹94.70 for the same quantity of diesel. In Kolkata, a litre of petrol and diesel are sold for ₹96.34 and ₹90.12, respectively. The two fuels are at ₹97.69 and ₹91.92 in Chennai.

Petrol prices have shot past ₹100 per litre in as many as seven states and Union Territories like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telnagna, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Diesel shot past ₹100 per litre in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district a few days ago.

The variants in how much state taxes and levies are imposed are the reason for varying fuel prices from one state to another and these, alongwith high taxes imposed by the central government, have primarily caused the spate of rate hikes since early May. While the central government previously chose to also highlight international crude prices for any change in domestic fuel rates, oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently said that his government needs funds to carry out various welfare schemes in Covid-19 times. He also chose to target Congress-rules states and asked why the governments here are not providing relief to people.

Political bickering is mostly part and parcel of rising fuel prices and Congress - among a few other opposition parties - have sought to target the central government over the fuel rates.

It is mostly agreed though that a respite from fuel price hikes isn't likely in the weeks to come.

2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe makes debut with refreshed design, features



The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe now comes with bench seats at the rear that can accommodate five people.
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe will be powered by 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine, which makes up to 429 hp.

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe facelift. The six-cylinder GT43 and GT53 will now come with minor design changes, new personalised features and a few new colour scheme.

The AMG GT 4-Door Coupe facelift will also feature updated driving assistance systems and the Widescreen Cockpit including the MBUX multimedia system. The new facelift models are also offered with wider wheels. These include 20-inch light-alloy wheels, or 21-inch forged wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design. Customers can also add red-painted brake callipers for the 6-cylinder models.

For exterior colour choices, Mercedes-AMG has added three new options which include Starling Blue Metallic, Starling Blue Magno and Cashmere White Magno.

One of the biggest changes in the 2022 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is that it is now able to accommodate five people, instead of four like in the previous the GT 4-Door model. The new model now comes with a three-across bench seat at the rear as the carmaker removed the fixed centre console. The bench seats can also fold completely to make more room for luggage.

The cabin also gets new interior colour options, including Yacht Blue scheme and Deep White.

Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, said, "We constantly maintain our AMG GT 4-Door Coupé at an outstanding technical level. Under the hood, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door continues to be powered by the same 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine. However, Mercedes claims that the maximum power has improved slightly to 367 horsepower. The GT 53 too has improved power output of 435 horsepower. The engine continues to be mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

As China scraps one-child policy, many predict boom in sale of large SUVs



China currently has a three-child policy, a marked deviation from its one-child policy that was in place for decades.
Larger families may mean need for larger vehicles and this is where SUVs and MPVs could play a bigger role.
GM has already teased images of a nine-seat vehicle for China.

China has had a single-child policy for its citizens for several decades and had increased the limit to two in 2016. Recently, even this was scrapped, paving the way for married couples to have even three children if they so desire. And while small families have seen a sustained preference for small cars in the country, the possible population boom in the times to come may make large SUVs with multiple-seating options more popular than these currently are.

The decision to do away with fixing a limit on the number of children a couple can have is largely seen as a result of China's ageing population. And while some reports suggest the new three-child policy may not drastically improve the birth rate in the country, many in the automotive industry here see an opportunity for large SUVs and MPVs that is now up for grabs.

GM, for instance, teased a completely new 9-seater vehicle for the Chinese market with four rows of seats in 2+2+2+3 set up. The vehicle will have sliding doors for easier access to the cabin for all. Manufacturers may also up the emphasis on vehicles with five and seven seats here at a time when SUVs and pick-up trucks are seeing increased traction in markets elsewhere.

Another factor that may help large SUVs find increased favour is the increase in emphasis on families traveling together in Covid-19 times. While this is mostly a global phenomena and not specific to China, the option to pack in all family members and luggage for getaways at a time when flying or taking the rail route may still be considered rather unsafe is being backed as a factor to consider.

In China, much though would depend on how strong the automotive sales remain. After 13 long months of steady rise, May sales dipped noticeably in the country. And with electric vehicles becoming more and more popular, the possible favour for SUVs and MPVs may yet get bogged down even before taking flight.

Ashok Leyland arm acquires electric vehicles maker Switch Mobility



Switch Mobility Automotive was incorporated to carry on the business of manufacture and sale of electric vehicles.

Commercial vehicles major Ashok Leyland on Tuesday said its subsidiary Switch Mobility has fully acquired electric vehicles maker Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, India.

"Switch Mobility Ltd, UK, a subsidiary of the company, acquired the entire shareholding in Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, India on June 14, 2021," Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing.

In view of the same, Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, India has become a step-down subsidiary of the company, it added.

Ashok Leyland said being the promoter of Switch Mobility Ltd, UK, it had an interest in the entity being acquired.

Hinduja group's flagship Ashok Leyland makes trucks, buses, light vehicles and defence vehicles.

2021 BMW S1000R to be launched in India today: Price expectation



The India-bound S1000R will be identical to the unit sold in the international markets.
It was officially revealed last year.
The BMW S1000R BS 6 is already available for purchase in the markets outside India.

BMW Motorrad is all geared up to launch the new 2021 S1000R naked sports bike in the Indian market later today. It was officially revealed last year. The updated S1000R bike is a direct rival to the likes of the newly launched Ducati Streetfighter V4 bike and also the Kawasaki Z H2.

The India-bound S1000R will be identical to the unit sold in the international markets. In comparison to its predecessor, the new 2021 model is a whole new motorcycle altogether. It features a full revamped exterior styling, new features as well as mechanical updates. It benefits from a newly designed front headlamp that takes inspiration from the 2021 BMW G310R and the F900R bikes. The frame and swingarm on the bike have also been sourced from the S1000RR.

Other key updates on the bike include a Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch TFT screen that replaces the semi-digital unit found on the previous motorcycle. The S1000R also gets similar rider aids as the fully faired counterpart. It gets three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic), ABS Pro, traction control system, and Hill Start Control as standard.

The bike sources power from a Euro 5/BS 6-compliant 999cc, inline-four cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine has been rated to deliver 165bhp of maximum power at 11,000 rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. It also features an optional Shift Assistant Pro bidirectional quickshifter. BMW claims an overall fuel efficiency of 6.2-litre/100km or 16.12kmpl from this engine.

Expected Price:

While the previous MY20 model priced from ₹16.70 lakh (ex-showroom), expect the new bike to be priced in the range of ₹17-19 lakh (ex-showroom).

J&K transport department cracks down on cars from other states plying in UT



Residents of J&K purchasing vehicles from other states have to get these vehicles registered at nearest RTOs.
A circular from J&K transport department makes note of increase in cars registered in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab plying on long term in J&K without proper authorization.

Residents of Jammu and Kashmir who purchase vehicles from outside the union territory and then use such vehicles within the state without registering these with local RTOs could now face strict and stringent action. This after the J&K transport department reportedly issued a circular in which it asked RTOs and ARTOs to comply with provisions in the amended Motor Vehicles Act and all other relevant rules.

According to reports, the transport department here has taken note of growing instances of vehicles from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi being used by locals in J&K. A circular issued by Hirdesh Kumar, Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Transport department, makes note of both new and pre-owned vehicles that are purchased from outside of J&K and then used here without proper documentation work.

As per a report in Greater Kashmir News Network, the circular highlights that not only does this cause a loss to the state exchequer but that such vehicles may also be used for unlawful activities. "It has been observed that considerable number of vehicles registered outside J&K have been purchased by the residents of J&K and are plying across unauthorisedly, without having been registered with the concerned registering authorities, in contravention to the explicit provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989," the circular reportedly reads. "It has been reported that a number of old vehicles purchased from outside J&K are also plying in J&K without paying token tax and road tax as required under J&K Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957 and without the transfer of ownership in favour of purchaser (transferee) and the state exchequer is bereft of considerable amount on this account. There is a high probability of such vehicles being used for carrying unlawful activities."

It is mandatory for a local resident who purchases a vehicle from outside of J&K to get such vehicles registered with competent authority in the area in which he or she has residence or place of business.

In case of a vehicle registered outside of J&K, the owner of such vehicle will have 45 days from the date of transfer to contact the local authority.

Volvo recalls over 85,000 vehicles due to this fault



The plug-in models of the impacted Volvo cars will be able to stop and start safely only as long as they have charge in their batteries.
Volvo will replace the faulty 15A fuse with a 20A fuse in the affected vehicles at no extra cost to the owners.

Volvo has recalled over 85,000 units of cars and SUVs due to a potential fault with the fuel pump. The vehicles being recalled include S60, S90 and S90L sedans; V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, and V90 Cross Country wagons; and XC60 and XC90 SUVs, all from the 2019 and 2020 model years.

As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 15A fuse to the low-pressure fuel pump of the vehicles might blow when the engine control module demands the shut off of the fuel delivery module due to electrical current peaks.

The blown fuse will prevent the low-pressure fuel pump from operating and this will in turn cause the engine to come to a halt while also preventing any impacted engine from starting. Volvo states that it is not aware of any reports of injuries, fatalities or crashes caused due to this issue. The car maker also noted that the plug-in models impacted by the issue will be able to stop and start safely only as long as they have charge in their batteries.

Apart from this, not starting of internal combustion engine or a display of message on Driver Information Module (DIM) could be signs of warning against the failure of the fuel pump system.

The issue in the fuel pump came to notice when it was identified in some cases among customer cars and in some other cases when the Swedish automaker filled some fuel systems with petrol at its factory.

Volvo will start notifying owners of the affected vehicles about the potential issue on August 1. To fix the issue, the company's dealers will simply replace the faulty 15A fuse with a 20A fuse at no extra cost to the owners.

19 Higher technical qualification like B.Tech/B.E/ M.Tech/ M.E etc with or without Diploma is not allowed

Selection Procedure :

The Selection Process for respective posts consists of Written Test/ Computer Based Test only.

1. Written Test/ Computer Based Test shall be of Objective Type of two hours duration consisting of two parts :-

a) Part-I consists of Professional Knowledge Test with 120 questions having specific questions of respective discipline.

b) Part-II consists of Supervisory Aptitude Test with 50 questions on vocabulary, verbal comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, ability to determine data sufficiency, interpretation of graphs/charts/tables, numerical ability etc.

2. All questions carry equal marks. Wrong and multiple answers would result in negative marks of 1/4.

3. To qualify against unreserved vacancies, candidates have to score at least 40% marks in Written Test with at least 30% marks in Part I and II separately. For reserved vacancies, wherever applicable, the qualifying criteria in Written Test is 30% marks with at least 25% marks scored in Part I and II separately.

4. Only those candidates who secure the minimum qualifying percentage of 40% (for unreserved) /30% (for reserved) will get empanelled as per the criteria of empanelment.

5. The Offer of Appointment shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of merit and based on the requirement. Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their being found medically fit in the Pre-Employment Medical Examination to be conducted as per POWERGRID Norms and Standards of Medical Fitness.

However, the rating/grade of 6 shall be considered equivalent to 55%, in those cases where Universities / Institutes have not prescribed rating/grading neither prescribed any conversion formula for calculating equivalent percentage nor award any class for that rating.

8. Qualifying experience will be calculated from the date mentioned in the marks sheets of prescribed educational qualification.

9. Service rendered during training period as a "Trainee" on regular Pay Scale or Stipend followed by his/her conformation in service, shall be counted for the purpose of experience. However, training as Apprentice Trainee or any other training under legal provision or part of academic curriculum shall not be reckoned for the purpose of computation of experience.

10. Selected candidates will be on probation for one year.

11. Superannuation -The age of superannuation for all employees in the regular establishment in HSCL is at present 58 (fifty-eight) years. However, this is subject to revision, from time to time, as per the Government of India guidelines.

12. There shall be minimum of 02 (two) years service left before superannuation (58 years) in respect of both internal/external candidates.

13. Persons with Disability can also apply for any of the above posts in accordance with DOPT OM No. 36035/3/2004-Estt(Res) dated 29.12.2005. Disability of applicants applying against the posts reserved for disabled persons should not be less than 40%. Reservation against sub-quota for minority community in the post reserved for OBC (NCL) will be applicable as per DPE's OM No.6/6/2011-DPE(SC/ST) dated 02.01.2012.

22. If there is any discrepancy between the concerned C-DAC rules, guidelines etc and any matter stated in this document, the concerned C-DAC rules, guidelines etc will prevail.

Selection Procedure :

1. The qualification and experience prescribed, are the minimum requirements and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidates entitled to be called for written test and / or other selection processes.

2. The initial screening will be based on the parametres like academic records, experience and any other relevant parameters or based on combination of relevant factors including those stated. Only those screened-in candidates will be considered for further selection process.

3. In the event of the number of applicants is large (vacancy to application ratio of more than 1:10), for any position(s), it may not be convenient or possible for CDAC to call all the candidates to participate in selection process. xii. Candidates belonging to reserved category including, for whom no reservation has been mentioned, are free to apply for vacancies announced for unreserved category provided, they must fulfill all the eligibility conditions applicable to unreserved category.

xiii. Where interview without any written test is the mode of recruitment, merely satisfying the eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for the interview after preliminary screening/ short-listing with reference to candidate's qualification, suitability, experience etc.

Selection Process :

General Terms and Conditions for Appointment:
1. 5. Qualifications must be approved /recognized by UGC/ AICTE / AIU (Association of Indian Universities). Candidates with qualifications acquired from foreign universities should produce order/ letter in this regard under which it has been approved/recognized by AIU.

6. Wherever the essential educational qualification has a mention of dual specialization, one of the specializations necessarily needs to be function specific, for the post notified.

7. The engagement will be subject to the candidate being medically fit and continuing to be medically fit during the period of contract as per the standards prescribed by the Company.
