Hindi teachers to be honoured

KOZHIKODE: As part of the Hindi Week celebrations, the Bhasha Samanwaya Vedi will commemorate pioneers in the field of Hindi language education, honour veteran Hindi teachers and conduct an exhibition of newspapers published in Indian languages.

At a function being conducted on September 15 at the Alakapuri Auditorium, V.M. Govindan Nambeeshan, P. Raghavan and V.A. Keshavan Namboodiri, who took up Mahatma Gandhi's call to spread the Hindi language in Kerala will be commemorated. Veteran Hindi teachers Prof. T.M. Rajagopalan, P.V. Joseph and T. Narayanan Nair will be honoured with the Hindi Sevi Samman awards at the meeting.

A book written by Dr. C. Ajitha on novels in Malayalam and Hindi with psychological themes will be released as part of the Hindi Week celebrations.

The celebration will be inaugurated by Dr. V.N. Prasad, who is Professor of Hindi at Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, and editor of Bahuvachan, a monthly magazine.
