Reliance Jio has announced a new product called Jio Glass. The new product is aimed at enhancing the virtual space by making it more interactive using 3D avatars, holographic content and even normal video conferencing features.

The Jio Glass weighs just 75gms and comes with personalized audio. In order to access content on the device, the company will provide a simple cable that can be attached to the smartphone in order to access different use case scenarios.

The Jio Glass can use 3D avatars to make interactions better in the virtual world. The company will also allow designed discussions by sharing 3D holograms.

According to the company, Jio Glass will get support from 25 apps for now. The Glass can be used for educational purposes using holographic content.

Reliance Industries also announced a new stakeholder in Jio Platforms. The company has announced Google as a new strategic partner. The company has claimed that the search giant will invest ₹33,737 crore with a stake of 7.7%. This takes the total investment by stakeholders to ₹1,52,056 crore.

Before the Google announcement, Reliance Industries had sold stakes worth ₹1,18,318.45 crore which includes investors like Facebook. While the lockdown and times of uncertainty hit the share values of most companies, Reliance Industries has managed to soar through by an increment of over 120% since the lockdown began in mid-March. Other major investors and collaborators from the tech world include chipset makers Intel and Qualcomm.

Aiming to give a competition to Google-owned YouTube, Facebook on Saturday introduced official music videos on the platform and introduced a new music destination on Facebook Watch in India that would let people view their favourite music videos. Users can explore music videos on the platform by genre, artist, or mood and there would be theme-based playlists such as "Top Bollywood", "Top Artists," among others.

The music destination on Facebook Watch is currently available on both iOS and Android mobile devices and it would be available on desktop soon. The company has partnered with major music labels including the likes of Zee Music Company, T-Series Music, and Yash Raj Films. Facebook Watch also includes music videos from global artists like Jonas Brothers, Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Marvin Gaye, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Elton John, among others.

"Over the past year, we have been working with partners in the Indian music industry to build the foundation of a music video experience for our consumers, and are thrilled to launch official music videos on the platform. We will continue to find opportunities to add more unique social sharing experiences and bring music into the ways people share and connect on Facebook," Manish Chopra, Director, and Head of Partnerships, Facebook India, said in a statement.

According to the social networking giant, official music videos on the platform would create new social experiences that go beyond just watching the video. On Facebook, users would be able to discover new artists and tracks through social sharing, clicking through to a song (from a Music Sticker / Music Video) shared to a friend's story or a post in News Feed.

Also, users can connect with and learn more about an artist and their creative ambitions, watch the story behind their music on their Page, a label page, and connect through real-time interactions on Facebook Live.

Users can also access and discover music videos directly on your News Feed allowing friends and family to share their favourite music, or through Search.

ISRO launch live: RISAT-2BR1, a Radar imaging earth observation satellite weighing about 628 kg, will be placed into an orbit of 576 km at an inclination of 37 degrees.

It has been just over two weeks that the Indian space agency launched an Indian satellite and 13 US satellites in orbit. Now ISRO launch vehicle - the PSLV which stands for Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle - will be taking up one more Indian satellite and nine other satellites in space. This mission will be the 50th flight for the PSLV.

The PSLV will be blasting off from the second launch pad at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 1525 hours or 3.25 PM at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. This will be the sixth launch for 2019 which also includes the biggie - Chandrayaan 2 mission. The space agency will undertake another PSLV launch in December which will carry another five customer satellites with its main payload.

ISRO states on its blog, "PSLV-C48, which is the 50th mission of PSLV, will launch RISAT-2BR1 from the First Launch Pad (FLP) of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. The launch is tentatively scheduled at 1525 Hrs IST on December 11, 2019, subject to weather conditions.

WhatsApp Multi-Device Support Feature Might Launch Soon

WhatsApp does allow a user to mirror their WhatsApp to their desktop using WhatsApp Web but that is as close as it gets to using WhatsApp on two devices.

According to a WABetainfo report, it is expected that the company will release the multi-device support for WhatsApp in the months to come.

Currently, WhatsApp only allows one device per connection. However, with the upcoming update, you'll be able to use the same WhatsApp number on multiple devices.

According to WABetainfo, the testing for the feature has begun but the website also says that there is no fixed timeline for the feature to be rolled out in the final version of the app.

The launch of the multi-device support could be in-line with the launch of the WhatsApp support for the iPad which is also in the works. Considering that WhatsApp is planning a separate WhatsApp for iPad OS, Apple device users will be able to use two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously.

1.TEAM BUILDER

A team which works together well and happily is a more efficient team since their union can bring out the best in them. Making a team work together requires a keen understanding of people.

It is also highly important that the team leader in software development be able to identify the strengths and what gets them excited to interact with others. Moreover, it is key to listen to their demands for attention, recognition, and feedback in order to ensure the team stays on track.

Feedback should be proactive and constant. Many leaders are prone to wait until a problem occurs before they give feedback. The best thing to do is have an internal process that states that leaders should give goals and formal feedback every 6 months.

2.    DELEGATION

If the leader does not rely on team input, autonomy is not possible. The leader should guide the group through the delivery and allow them to be self-directing. When they feel that their leaders trust them, they are more engaged since they feel in command of their time, effort, and reward.

4.    MOTIVATION
Provide your team with the needed training to advance in their careers and to become knowledgeable about the newest technologies.

This is a good way to maintain motivation in developer teams and can help to keep the team members who are developing their skills while working hard on the delivery assigned.

5.    COACHING
Things can go wrong both on a project and within the team, and in those moments, it is important to avoid getting caught up in the blame game and to try to identify those responsible for the mistakes.

A team leader in software development needs to understand the problems, help the team overcome them, and more importantly, learn from the problem so that it does not happen again. If the problem has to do with an issue with the code, a quality software improvement with unit/integration tests could be a possible solution. On the other hand, if it is about a process issue, it will be necessary to update internal processes.

Leaders that are destructively critical about mistakes destroy employee engagement. Good leaders, instead of punishing mistakes, encourage their people to try again.

6.    PROBLEM SOLVING
As team leaders, the responsibility is to minimize how often problems take place, which means we must be brave enough to solve them right away before things go wrong.

Leaders must have the ability to guide teams through the problem solving process and come up with positive results. They also realize that the team needs to have some guidelines to keep them on track.

7.    INTEGRITY
Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, expectations, and outcomes. It is an important attribute of a great leader to demonstrate commitment to do the right thing for the right reason, regardless of the circumstances and to make the team members to follow him/her in these values and ethical practices.

Integrity makes a leader highly trusted, and leaders who inspire trust obtain better results and loyalty from the working team.

With geo-political factors impacting crude prices, India needs to have a good oil hedging policy as the volatility will continue to rise, former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Raghuram Rajan said Wednesday.

Rajan said the issue has been discussed in the past and it began with a strategic petroleum reserve, but beyond that there is a need to think about hedging oil prices especially when it comes to levels such as now.

"There is a very strong need for an oil hedging mechanism for a country like ours which is so dependent on oil," Rajan said in a pre-recorded interview being telecast at Times Network's India Economic Conclave.

The problem is many who are entrusted with this, fear the chance of oil prices falling even further if you hedge it, but that has to be taken as a national consequence of the hedging programme. "We, as a country, must think about whether we should start this process," he said.

Raghuram Rajan said as far the GDP growth number is concerned, there is always a need to do more.

Giving an analogy, he explained, "The proof of the pudding is sometimes in the eating. If 25 million people are applying for 90,000 jobs, it suggests that we are not supplying that many jobs and that means growth is not strong enough at least in the job creating areas," he said.

According to him at this time one of the biggest areas of concern is state deficits, especially during election time where many states are promised waivers and also dole out goodies to attract votes.

"This, often hampers them later on because ultimately what is suffering is investment," He said.

Rajan said if we look at agrarian unrest, one of the big concerns is that agrarian productivity has not increased as it should, and the prices have been fluctuating.

"The effect of all this is that people are getting more and more concerned that they don't have access to a good livelihood," he added.

On land acquisition for projects, Rajan said there is a need to improve the pace of the process by making land rights much clearer, as there are some states where land rights are opaque, and also having a decent price as well as some kind of long-term incentives.

There is a need to focus on macro stability and distress sectors such as agriculture, banking and power sector, and try to get them back on track, he noted.

"There is no immediate reason to be overly concerned about India but there is a reason to revisit our growth path to ensure that it is stable, sustainable and equitable. If we do that we are on the right track," Rajan said.

Rajan also emphasised on having good and reliable data in the country to help decision makers formulate policies.

"As we go forward and become a USD 5 trillion economy from the over USD 2.5 trillion we are now, we need to have robust data and rely on data and take economic decisions on that basis," Rajan said.

Brace yourself for a heat wave, Met officials warn residents

Chennai has to brace itself for a blistering couple of days, as the Meteorological Department has predicted that a heat wave will hit the city on Friday and continue through Saturday. The mercury level is expected to shoot past the 40 degree Celsius mark.

Issuing a heat wave warning for many parts of the State, including Chennai, the department has asked the residents to avoid the midday sun. On Thursday, several weather stations across the State recorded a maximum temperature that was three to five degrees above normal. In Chennai, the suburbs were hotter than the city, with the Meenambakkam station recording 39.2 degree Celsius on Thursday.

According to Met officials, heat waves are more commonly reported from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during summer. It has hit Tamil Nadu too this year due to a sustained dry weather and lack of showers in most parts of the State, including Chennai.

Positives in Negatives

A young woman was sitting at her dining table, worried about taxes to be paid, house-work to be done and to top it all, her extended family was coming over for festival lunch the next day. She was not feeling very thankful at that time.

As she turned her gaze sideways, she noticed her young daughter scribbling furiously into her notebook.

"My teacher asked us to write a paragraph on "Negative Thanks giving" for homework today."
said the daughter.

"She asked us to write down things that we are thankful for, things that make us feel not so good in the beginning, but turn out to be good after all."

With curiosity, the mother peeked into the book. This is what her daughter wrote:

"I'm thankful for Final Exams, because that means school is almost over.

I'm thankful for bad-tasting medicine, because it helps me feel better.

I'm thankful for waking up to alarm clocks, because it means I'm still alive."

It then dawned on the mother, that she had a lot of things to be thankful for!

She thought again...

She had to pay taxes but that meant she was fortunate to be employed.

She had house-work to do but that meant she had a shelter to live in.

She had to cook for her many family members for lunch but that meant she had a family with whom she could celebrate.

Moral:
We generally complain about the negative things in life but we fail to look at the positive side of it.

What is the positive in your negatives? Look at the better part of life today and make ur everyday a great day.

Kodak IM5 Smartphone - Kodak Begins Its Smartphone Journey

Kodak has collaborated with Britain-based Bullit Mobile to launch its first Android smartphone – the Kodak IM5. Priced at $249 USD (approximately Rs. 15,800) the phone will go on sale in Europe first, followed by a global rollout by the end of Q1 2015.

As far as specifications go, the Kodak IM5 smartphone comes with decent mid-range specs. Powered by a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek, the phone features a 5-inch HD display (1280 x 720px resolution), 1GB of RAM and an internal storage of 8GB (expandable upto 32GB via microSD card). The phone will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, although an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop has been promised by the company.

The camera front doesn't exactly scream spectacular, at least on paper. But that might be because very little is actually known about it. The Kodak IM5 will come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, while the front will house a 5-megapixel camera.

NYU launches largest student hacking competition On worldwide


Last year, over 15,000 students attended and competed in preliminary rounds in order to reach the finals in six separate competitions. This year, which is the 11th CSAW event, the winners of the preliminary hacking rounds will travel to Brooklyn, NYC to compete for scholarships and prizes.

The competition finals will take place 13 – 15 November.

Dubbed 'Capture the Flag,' the hacking event includes the testing and securing of hardware, quizzes and research submissions. In addition, new this year, students will also compete to develop the best cybersecurity public policy.

Yahoo's chief information security officer Alex Stamos will be in attendance, and will deliver the keynote address during the Finalist Reception on November 13. Stamos's talk, "Shaping the Future: Spies, Cyber Crimes, and Your Career," will explore historical and ethical debates within the field, as well as discuss his own experiences in protecting the data of Yahoo users.

Amazon's Prime Air is an octocopter, a drone fitted with eight rotors. Most recently, Amazon had said it is developing vehicles that weigh less than 25kg and travel at over 80kmph. The drone will carry a payload of up to 2.26kg, which covers 86% of products sold on Amazon.

Top-selling products such as mobiles and books will likely be delivered within 90 minutes-3 hours for select customers.

Amazon's plan to deliver packages using drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, according to two people aware of the development. The US-based e-tailer will debut its drone delivery service with trials in Mumbai and Bangalore, cities where it has warehouses, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

Retina MacBook Pro Lineup Refresh Brings Faster CPUs, More RAM Standard; India Prices Slashed

Apple has refreshed its lineup of Retina MacBook Pro laptops, giving each model a speed bump and an increased amount of RAM by default. Further, the India prices of all Retina MacBook Pro variants have been slashed, with most models receiving a  Rs. 5,000 price drop, while the most expensive variant has seen its price cut by Rs. 20,000. The non-Retina MacBook Pro has received a price drop of  Rs. 11,000.

All 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro laptops will now come with 8GB RAM standard. Earlier, the 256GB and 512GB SSD storage variants came equipped with 8GB RAM, while the entry-level 128GB model had 4GB RAM standard. The 128GB and 256GB SSD storage variants will now come with 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, instead of the 2.4GHz processor they earlier came with. The 512GB SSD variant gets a speed bump from 2.6GHz to 2.8GHz.

The 15-inch 256GB SSD variant of the Retina MacBook Pro will now come with 16GB RAM as standard to match its 512GB SSD counterpart. The CPU on the 256GB and 512GB SSD variants has been bumped up to 2.2GHz and 2.5GHz respectively, a jump of 200MHz for both.

Amazon infuses $2 billion into Indian arm, a day after Flipkart announced $1 billion funding

On Tuesday Flipkart announced that it raised a fresh round of funding worth $1 billion. This is seen as a part of Flipkart's aggressive scale up after Amazon's rapid expansion in India that has heated up competition.

Now a day later, Amazon announced that it will invest an additional $2 billion "to support its rapid growth and continue to enhance the customer and seller experience in India."
