Ashok Leyland arm acquires electric vehicles maker Switch Mobility



Switch Mobility Automotive was incorporated to carry on the business of manufacture and sale of electric vehicles.

Commercial vehicles major Ashok Leyland on Tuesday said its subsidiary Switch Mobility has fully acquired electric vehicles maker Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, India.

"Switch Mobility Ltd, UK, a subsidiary of the company, acquired the entire shareholding in Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, India on June 14, 2021," Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing.

In view of the same, Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, India has become a step-down subsidiary of the company, it added.

Ashok Leyland said being the promoter of Switch Mobility Ltd, UK, it had an interest in the entity being acquired.

The investment in the equity shares of Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd is at arm's length, the company added.

Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd was incorporated to carry on the business of manufacture and sale of electric vehicles.

Hinduja group's flagship Ashok Leyland makes trucks, buses, light vehicles and defence vehicles.

2021 BMW S1000R to be launched in India today: Price expectation



The India-bound S1000R will be identical to the unit sold in the international markets.
It was officially revealed last year.
The BMW S1000R BS 6 is already available for purchase in the markets outside India.

BMW Motorrad is all geared up to launch the new 2021 S1000R naked sports bike in the Indian market later today. It was officially revealed last year. The updated S1000R bike is a direct rival to the likes of the newly launched Ducati Streetfighter V4 bike and also the Kawasaki Z H2.

The India-bound S1000R will be identical to the unit sold in the international markets. In comparison to its predecessor, the new 2021 model is a whole new motorcycle altogether. It features a full revamped exterior styling, new features as well as mechanical updates. It benefits from a newly designed front headlamp that takes inspiration from the 2021 BMW G310R and the F900R bikes. The frame and swingarm on the bike have also been sourced from the S1000RR.

Other key updates on the bike include a Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch TFT screen that replaces the semi-digital unit found on the previous motorcycle. The S1000R also gets similar rider aids as the fully faired counterpart. It gets three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic), ABS Pro, traction control system, and Hill Start Control as standard.

The bike sources power from a Euro 5/BS 6-compliant 999cc, inline-four cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine has been rated to deliver 165bhp of maximum power at 11,000 rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. It also features an optional Shift Assistant Pro bidirectional quickshifter. BMW claims an overall fuel efficiency of 6.2-litre/100km or 16.12kmpl from this engine.

Expected Price:

While the previous MY20 model priced from ₹16.70 lakh (ex-showroom), expect the new bike to be priced in the range of ₹17-19 lakh (ex-showroom).

J&K transport department cracks down on cars from other states plying in UT



Residents of J&K purchasing vehicles from other states have to get these vehicles registered at nearest RTOs.
A circular from J&K transport department makes note of increase in cars registered in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab plying on long term in J&K without proper authorization.

Residents of Jammu and Kashmir who purchase vehicles from outside the union territory and then use such vehicles within the state without registering these with local RTOs could now face strict and stringent action. This after the J&K transport department reportedly issued a circular in which it asked RTOs and ARTOs to comply with provisions in the amended Motor Vehicles Act and all other relevant rules.

According to reports, the transport department here has taken note of growing instances of vehicles from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi being used by locals in J&K. A circular issued by Hirdesh Kumar, Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Transport department, makes note of both new and pre-owned vehicles that are purchased from outside of J&K and then used here without proper documentation work.

As per a report in Greater Kashmir News Network, the circular highlights that not only does this cause a loss to the state exchequer but that such vehicles may also be used for unlawful activities. "It has been observed that considerable number of vehicles registered outside J&K have been purchased by the residents of J&K and are plying across unauthorisedly, without having been registered with the concerned registering authorities, in contravention to the explicit provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989," the circular reportedly reads. "It has been reported that a number of old vehicles purchased from outside J&K are also plying in J&K without paying token tax and road tax as required under J&K Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957 and without the transfer of ownership in favour of purchaser (transferee) and the state exchequer is bereft of considerable amount on this account. There is a high probability of such vehicles being used for carrying unlawful activities."

It is mandatory for a local resident who purchases a vehicle from outside of J&K to get such vehicles registered with competent authority in the area in which he or she has residence or place of business.

In case of a vehicle registered outside of J&K, the owner of such vehicle will have 45 days from the date of transfer to contact the local authority.

Volvo recalls over 85,000 vehicles due to this fault



The plug-in models of the impacted Volvo cars will be able to stop and start safely only as long as they have charge in their batteries.
Volvo will replace the faulty 15A fuse with a 20A fuse in the affected vehicles at no extra cost to the owners.

Volvo has recalled over 85,000 units of cars and SUVs due to a potential fault with the fuel pump. The vehicles being recalled include S60, S90 and S90L sedans; V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, and V90 Cross Country wagons; and XC60 and XC90 SUVs, all from the 2019 and 2020 model years.

As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 15A fuse to the low-pressure fuel pump of the vehicles might blow when the engine control module demands the shut off of the fuel delivery module due to electrical current peaks.

The blown fuse will prevent the low-pressure fuel pump from operating and this will in turn cause the engine to come to a halt while also preventing any impacted engine from starting. Volvo states that it is not aware of any reports of injuries, fatalities or crashes caused due to this issue. The car maker also noted that the plug-in models impacted by the issue will be able to stop and start safely only as long as they have charge in their batteries.

Apart from this, not starting of internal combustion engine or a display of message on Driver Information Module (DIM) could be signs of warning against the failure of the fuel pump system.

The issue in the fuel pump came to notice when it was identified in some cases among customer cars and in some other cases when the Swedish automaker filled some fuel systems with petrol at its factory.

Volvo will start notifying owners of the affected vehicles about the potential issue on August 1. To fix the issue, the company's dealers will simply replace the faulty 15A fuse with a 20A fuse at no extra cost to the owners.

Selection Procedure :

The Selection Process for respective posts consists of Written Test/ Computer Based Test only.

1. Written Test/ Computer Based Test shall be of Objective Type of two hours duration consisting of two parts :-

a) Part-I consists of Professional Knowledge Test with 120 questions having specific questions of respective discipline.

b) Part-II consists of Supervisory Aptitude Test with 50 questions on vocabulary, verbal comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, ability to determine data sufficiency, interpretation of graphs/charts/tables, numerical ability etc.

2. All questions carry equal marks. Wrong and multiple answers would result in negative marks of 1/4.

3. To qualify against unreserved vacancies, candidates have to score at least 40% marks in Written Test with at least 30% marks in Part I and II separately. For reserved vacancies, wherever applicable, the qualifying criteria in Written Test is 30% marks with at least 25% marks scored in Part I and II separately.

4. Only those candidates who secure the minimum qualifying percentage of 40% (for unreserved) /30% (for reserved) will get empanelled as per the criteria of empanelment.

5. The Offer of Appointment shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of merit and based on the requirement. General Instructions

1. Candidates applying for more than one post should apply separately for each post.

2. Candidates are advised to give specific, correct, full information. All original certificates/documents in support of information furnished in the application form are to be produced at the time of GD / Personal Interview, failing which the candidates will be dis-qualified for appearing in GD / Personal Interview and in such a case, traveling fare would not be reimbursed. Candidature of the candidate is liable to be rejected at any stage of recruitment process or after recruitment or joining, if any information provided by the candidate is found to be false or is not found in conformity with the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement.

3. In case of variation in name / surname / name spelling mentioned in the application with that in the respective certificates pertaining to education / professional qualification / caste / etc., the applicant shall be required to submit a certificate from SDM or equivalent to this effect along with the respective documents at the time of interview, failing which his/her candidature shall be liable to be cancelled. In case of change of surname of female after her marriage, the candidate is required to furnish marriage certificate and notarized affidavit in this regard.

4. Candidates called for the interview shall be reimbursed travelling fare by the shortest route from the place of residence to place of interview and back on production of original or self-attested photocopy of the inward tickets in the following manner: Grade E4 to E6 Second AC Rail/ Luxury Bus

5. Selected candidates will be required to serve in any part of India or abroad including subsidiaries and JVs companies as per the discretion/requirement of HSCL.

6. The mere fact that a candidate has submitted application against the advertisement and apparently fulfilling the criteria as prescribed in the advertisement would not bestow on him/her the right to be definitely called for interview / considered further for selection process. In case of overwhelming response, HSCL reserves the right to shortlist the candidates by fixing revised eligibility criteria. In case of non-suitability of candidates for the post applied for, HSCL at its discretion can offer a suitable post in the lower level. Only shortlisted candidates will be intimated through email or by post for the proposed written test/GD/Personal Interview.

7. Candidates should bring copy of printout of online filled application form, NOC (if applicable) and interview call letter along with photograph and self-attested copies of documents viz. (a) matriculation/ secondary certificate as proof of date of birth (b) complete set of mark sheets / degree certificate in support of qualification (c) proof of complete experience along with pay scales for each position held (d) caste certificate in format prescribed by Govt. of India (if applicable) (e) disability certificate issued by the competent authority (if applicable) & (f) Pay-in-slip (if applicable),(g) CTC, Organization structure depicting their Position, Turnover of the organization ( wherever applicable) along with the original certificates / experience certificates for verification.

8. HSCL reserves the right to cancel this advertisement and/or the selection process for any of the above posts without assigning any reason.

9. Candidates are advised to keep their e-mail ID active at least for one year. No change in email ID will be allowed once entered. All future correspondence shall be sent via e-mail only.

2. Candidates working in Govt./ PSU in IDA pay scale should have minimum 2 years' experience in one scale of pay below the post applied for. Internal candidates on permanent rolls should have 1 year experience in one scale of pay below that of the post applied for.

5. Verification of Date of Birth: The candidates shall submit any one of the following certificates for the purpose of verification of date of birth :-

i) High School or Higher secondary School or School Leaving Certificate.

ii) Extract of date of birth as recorded in Municipal records/ record maintained for registering birth as per death/birth/marriage registration act 1886.

Date of Birth Certificate once submitted shall not be replaced or, any other certificate at a later date revealing a separate date of birth shall be not entertained.

6. All the essential qualifications must be full time and be recognized from AICTE/UGC/State technical board/any other appropriate body.

7. Wherever CGPA/OGPA or grading system in a degree / diploma is awarded; equivalent percentage of marks should be indicated in the application form as per norms adopted by the University/Institute. The candidate will have to produce a copy of these norms with respect to his/her university/institute at the time of GD / Personal Interview. However, the rating/grade of 6 shall be considered equivalent to 55%, in those cases where Universities / Institutes have not prescribed rating/grading neither prescribed any conversion formula for calculating equivalent percentage nor award any class for that rating.

8. Qualifying experience will be calculated from the date mentioned in the marks sheets of prescribed educational qualification.

9. Service rendered during training period as a "Trainee" on regular Pay Scale or Stipend followed by his/her conformation in service, shall be counted for the purpose of experience. However, training as Apprentice Trainee or any other training under legal provision or part of academic curriculum shall not be reckoned for the purpose of computation of experience.

10. Selected candidates will be on probation for one year.

11. Superannuation -The age of superannuation for all employees in the regular establishment in HSCL is at present 58 (fifty-eight) years. However, this is subject to revision, from time to time, as per the Government of India guidelines.

12. There shall be minimum of 02 (two) years service left before superannuation (58 years) in respect of both internal/external candidates.

13. Persons with Disability can also apply for any of the above posts in accordance with DOPT OM No. 36035/3/2004-Estt(Res) dated 29.12.2005. Disability of applicants applying against the posts reserved for disabled persons should not be less than 40%. Reservation against sub-quota for minority community in the post reserved for OBC (NCL) will be applicable as per DPE's OM No.6/6/2011-DPE(SC/ST) dated 02.01.2012.

14. Reservation of vacancies with respect to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / OBC/EWS/ Person with disabilities shall be in accordance with the Government directives issued in the matter from time to time.

15. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Persons with Disabilities (PWD)/ EWS and Ex- Servicemen will be as per Government guidelines in this regard. Candidates from reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC (NCL) can also apply against the unreserved posts. However, age relaxation will not be allowed to such category candidates against unreserved posts. Departmental/Internal candidates on regular establishment will be given age relaxation of five years provided they have at least two years of service left before superannuation.

Selection Procedure :

1. The selection procedure will be decided by Company depending upon the response received against each post. The selection criteria can be by way of personal interview or by way of group discussion (GD) followed by personal interview or written test followed by group discussion followed by personal interview or by any other appropriate way. Decision of the company will be final in this regard.   

2. The names of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on www.hsclindia.com / www.nbccindia.com. under head HRM -"CAREER". Separate individual e-mails will be sent to the shortlisted candidates. The final selection of the candidates will be based on the performance in the Witten Test/Group Discussion & Personal Interview &where after the "Offer of Appointment" shall be issued.

Selection Procedure :

1. The qualification and experience prescribed, are the minimum requirements and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidates entitled to be called for written test and / or other selection processes.

2. The initial screening will be based on the parametres like academic records, experience and any other relevant parameters or based on combination of relevant factors including those stated. Only those screened-in candidates will be considered for further selection process.

3. In the event of the number of applicants is large (vacancy to application ratio of more than 1:10), for any position(s), it may not be convenient or possible for CDAC to call all the candidates to participate in selection process. CDAC may then restrict the number of candidates to be called to participate in interview/selection process to a reasonable limit by applying enhanced standards than those advertised.

4. Even after applying enhanced standrards, if the number of candidates is large, there may be written test / any other selection process to further screen candidates, as deemed fit by the management of C-DAC. Whether performance in this selection process(es) will have weightage in the final selection shall be intimated in writing to concerned candidates.

5. C-DAC reserves the right to change/modify the selection process at any time, during the process. The decision of the management will be final and binding.

How to Apply :
