Citroen enters India with C5 Aircross SUV at INR 29.9 lakh


French carmaker CitroŽn introduced its C5 Aircross SUV today in India at a special introductory price of INR 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) with deliveries to commence from its La Maison CitroŽn phygital showrooms across the country.

Cirtoen would be the second French carmaker to sell its cars in India after its peer Renault that has been in India for the past 15-years. Aircross would be sold through La Maison CitroŽn outlets in 10 cities. The company is offering 100% online buying of the SUV directly from the factory, with doorstep delivery in over 50 cities across India.

Brought under its marquee CitroŽn Advisor, the online review website allows consumers the flexibility to review their product and ownership experience.

Vincent Cobťe, chief executive officer, CitroŽn, said, "The India launch of the new CitroŽn C5 Aircross SUV definitely goes beyond market expectations. It addresses all the needs in terms of design, comfort, roominess, equipment and powertrain. Its international success and modern technology will certainly satisfy Indian customers. The CitroŽn C5 Aircross SUV will establish our brand in India and showcase what CitroŽn is capable of, along with the reveal of the first vehicle from our new family of B-segment cars."

The Aircross SUV is assembled in India at the company's plant in Thiruvallur, near Chennai. This 'Comfort Class SUV' has a distinguished dynamic design and is available in four body colours and an optional black roof for a personalised look.

CitroŽn, since 1919 has created automobiles, technologies and mobility solutions as an audacious and innovative brand. It offers a wide range of models, right from the unique Ami, an electric mobility object designed for the city, to sedans, SUVs and commercial vehicles. Most of them are available with electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains too.

The Indian market would witness the regular fossil fuel options. Hybrids and electric mobility solutions are not exactly on the launch radar.

With over 1000 pre-bookings till date, C5 Aircross is clearly one of the most anticipated SUVs in India and we are looking forward to our journey in India with this launch."

Aircross C5 comes with the Flying Carpet Effect for cushioning the discomfort from road bumps through the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions-equipped suspension system, exclusively developed by CitroŽn. It carries an acoustic front windscreen and front window glasses, advanced comfort seats and 3 individually sliding, reclining and modular rear seats that fold flat to offer a class-leading boot space and panoramic sunroof (Shine variant).

The intuitive technologies to simplify life on-board include the unique Grip Controlģ System with multiple drive surface options, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Park Assist feature which enables the driver to park the car with only the brake and accelerator control while the car steers itself. It carries a powerful 2.0 litre diesel engine and 8-speed "Efficient Automatic Transmission". The C5 Aircross SUV offers 18.6 kmpl (ARAI certified) mileage.
