Navigating the Digital World through Digital Assessment and Collaborations
The pandemic evolved ways of work. In India, digitalization geared up and revolutionized many industries. The transition to the digital world was very quick and led to ways to reorganize work structures. Industries saw several changes and discovered unheard opportunities in distinct sectors.
To deliberate on the increasing role of digital across different industries, Suresh Iyer, Chief Information Officer, BlueStar, shared his insights. He mentioned that digitization has become a permanent phase in India and unlocking several opportunities for industries amid the pandemic.
Companies had to take innovative routes of connecting with customers to tackle the initial and subsequent phases of lockdown. They had to analyze the situations in real time to capture a predictive lens for the future. Sharing BlueStar's experience of rejuvenating its digital journey during these circumstances, Iyer said, "We created connectors between suppliers, dealers and customers to get real-time visibility of what was happening in their own spaces. This enabled us to anticipate situations better."
India has become a competitor in the global digital market with a surge in digitalization amid the pandemic. Iyer elaborated on the impact of digital in India, "Technology was never used the way it is now. People who were not able to understand it before are now forced to use it. Even the grocer is digitally enabled. I have stopped carrying a physical wallet -- it is a phone that matters."
According to Iyer, India will continue to grow in the digital market space as organizations have to maintain business continuity among every threat. Consumers have also adopted the digital mode which further adds up for organizations to be digitally mature. Digital assessment enables companies to evaluate and enhance their growth by speculating where they stand digitally and what they need to improve for widening their reach to the audience.
Iyer apprised about his own experience with CDT (Centre for Digital Transformation) for digital assessment, "I believe the DXcel framework has a lot of potential in assessing where we are at the journey. It is a very progressive measure to know where you are and answering questions like: Are you behind? Are you using the right set of technologies? Are you getting the right benefits or are you prioritizing them?"
Digital assessment can facilitate the propagation of best practices, insights, and knowledge of how to solve those problems, and through this process organizations can achieve the desired digital progress.
Collaborative evolution with digital
With the steady availability of necessary infrastructure, tools and awareness initiatives, organizations can now easily pave their digital journey quickly. Iyer said that summits like the virtual DLX Award Summit cater an opportunity for organizations, especially MSMEs, to analyze their future opportunities and learn from large enterprises.
In the future, connecting users with their technology providers through a digital platform will create great synergy in partnered operations. Direct collaboration between the customer and provider will ease the future services ecosystem. It will also help smoothen the digital shift for companies. Companies must proactively embrace digital assessment and a strategic digital roadmap in this journey.
