MKU's Biodiversity Park declared as conserved area

MADURAI: The Biodiversity Park situated on the Madurai Kamaraj University campus has been declared as a conserved area. Tree species in the Western Ghats that are rare and endangered will be protected and grown in a model nursery to be created on the campus. K. Muthuchelian, Chairperson, School of Energy, Environment and Natural Resources, told The Hindu here on Friday that several conservation programmes had been planned to commemorate the 'International Year of Biodiversity 2010.'
