IT sector fears dent to State's brand image

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA) has expressed concern over the recent developments in State and their adverse impact on the brand of the city and State as a destination for IT and ITES industry affecting its growth prospects.

Speaking for the industry, HYSEA president Narsimha Rao said in a press release on Monday that the State had become a preferred destination for IT/ITES companies from India and abroad due to the support extended by the successive governments in providing a friendly and congenial atmosphere for growth and investments. As a result, industry had grown at much higher rate than that of rest of the country in the last two to three years.

However, the recent two-week developments in the State had minor impact on the services rendered by IT and ITES industries located in the State with most companies working on their business continuity plans with support from administration. Mr. Rao said that there had been isolated incidents of IT/ITES companies being targets in both Hyderabad and Vizag and operations disrupted denting the confidence of all the stakeholders — clients, employees, investors, top management in some of the companies about assured daily operations. With so many global destinations for IT companies available to set up new businesses, the city and State could ill afford any dent to their image.
