CAT papers 'leaked', allege aspirants

HYDERABAD: Has the prestigious Common Admission Test (CAT) been leaked unofficially? If the repeat of questions and posting them on blogs by candidates is considered leakage, then the IIMs have a lot to explain. Some candidates who have taken the test initially have posted the questions on the blog - '' while some others have put them on Orkut discussion forums inviting discussions on them and also offering solutions.

These questions were posted even while the test was on and lot of them were repeated in the subsequent tests conducted online from November 27 to December 8.

In a test where even a single mark can change the fate of an aspirant such repeat of questions is nothing but disastrous. Candidates who have taken the test in the initial phase are alleging that the repeat of questions is nothing but leakage and IIMs should come out with a convincing reply immediately or cancel the test. "In fact, they have not been responding to the questions on the quality of test raised in the media," alleged a student.

A candidate who took test on the second day was surprised to see that five questions from Quant Section were repeated in the following tests and posted on the blogs.

"Candidates who have gone through these blogs would have lot of advantage. It's almost like adding five to ten marks to such students. This is totally unfair," says a candidate from Hyderabad. In view of the huge impact the online test is having on the final results, some parents are also planning to approach the court on the failure of IIMs to stop "leakage" of questions.

"The entire online test is mired in controversy with technical glitches obstructing candidates initially and later with the repeat of questions giving unfair advantage to many. We want cancellation of online test," demanded some candidates. Blogs and websites often visited by CAT aspirants are full of such demands and some of them are even planning to stage protests at all IIMs on Sunday.
