CBSE teachers may have to work extra

Amid concern over increasing workload of teachers under the new grading system, the central board of secondary education (CBSE) wrapped up its training sessions for educators from 89 affiliated schools in the city.

The board had asked affiliated schools to introduce the continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system from October in grade IX and implement it in grade X from the next academic year.

At the three-day workshop conducted by trainers from CBSE, educators were shown how to assess students in various subjects under the CCE system."The sessions were informative.

The syllabus hasn't changed much, but there is more emphasis on extracurricular activities. Usually, in IX and X grades, students don't participate in many extracurricular activities as the focus is on board exams," said Seena Antony, vice-principal, GEAR Innovative School.
