Teacher candidates throng Salem employment office

SALEM: Secondary Grade Teachers' training candidates who received mark sheets after their successful completion of course thronged the District Employment Office here since Sunday evening to register their names.

Police and employment officials struggled to maintain queues as hundreds had started pouring into the campus of the office on Sunday when mark sheets were disbursed to candidates. The registration began at 8 a.m. on Monday in which students wanted their names registered to get seniority status.
The candidates accompanied by their parents could be seen lying down inside the campus on Sunday night and got exposed to chill weather conditions.
To ensure seniority, the candidates rushed to the office immediately after receiving the mark sheets with necessary documents. The employment office also had made special arrangement to expedite the exercise.
A senor official said that students need not worry about their seniority since the office had made a fool-proof system.
The candidates said that since the government had been recruiting teachers based on the seniority list provided by the employment office, they wanted to register their names immediately and hence, the rush.
According to Assistant Director M.K. Perumal, 2,500 candidates got their names registered on Monday.
