A meeting of the petroleum and chemical industry leaders of the Gulf region will be held from Dec 8 to Dec 10 in UAE for discussing the impact of global economic meltdown as well as other issues of the world.

1,000-plus delegates from across the globe will be participating in the 4th Annual Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Forum conference in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

"Industry leaders and experts will assess the impact of the economic crisis on the Middle East and look at the industry's future beyond the current downturn," Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, secretary general of Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), said.

Saudi Arabia's Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi will be the keynote speaker for the inaugural session.

The issues which will be discussed in the conference include the impact of the economic crisis on the Middle East, growth of the chemical industry with competitively priced feedstock and cost cutting as a way to create value in an economic crisis.

"We have a great line-up of speakers headed by Al-Naimi whose insights on the industry and current regional and global trends will be invaluable," said Al-Sadoun.
