According to IBM, it has launched two technologies that will help the telecom operators to analyse the usage patterns of their subscribers and design various subscription plans accordingly.

Social Network Analysis (SNA) technology is the first one to help the telecom operators analyse the way the customers use their calls and develop the attractive and useful plans as per their needs.

The technology can be very helpful for the operators to reduce customer turnover and at the same time delivering good customer service.

IBM India Research Lab Director and Chief Technologist (IBM India/South Asia) Guruduth Banavar said, "Mobile telephony is growing tremendously all over the world, especially in developing nations. The market is immensely competitive and companies are looking for tailored products to retain and attract customers and therefore, business intelligence through customer behaviour analysis is critical."

This technology has been developed by IBM Research (India).

The other technology, IBM Customer Analyst, which is under development by IBM's lab in Israel, will focus on understanding Internet users, particularly mobile telephone subscribers.
