Teachers union to launch agitation

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Teachers' Union will launch phase-wise agitation protesting against the government's 'indifference' to solve the problems of 35,000 municipal and aided teachers.

The agitation would comprise holding of round-table conferences in districts from September 25 and holding of dharnas in districts on October 8 and in Hyderabad on 26.
Delaying tactics

A . Laxman, president, and K. Narasimha Reddy, general secretary, in a statement charged the Government with adopting delaying tactics in the implementation of service rules for municipal teachers, not sanctioning posts in 'success' schools and notional increments and failing to extend medical reimbursement.
Orders not released

They alleged that orders on agreed demands of teachers on November 3 last year were yet to be released. The August salaries of teachers under the Vijayawada and Vizag corporations were yet to be paid.
