VIT wins first place in events

VELLORE: VIT University women's teams obtained the first place in the following events in CHEMFEST '09, a State-level sports meet, organised in Chengalpattu Medical College recently: basketball, table tennis, shuttle, volleyball and chess.

The VIT women's team beat Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, 54-26 in the basketball finals, beat Sairam Engineering College 2-0 in the table tennis finals, beat B.S.A. Crescent University 2-0 in the shuttle finals, and beat Queen Mary's College, Chennai, 2-0 in the volleyball finals.

The VIT women's team also won the first place in the 100-metres, 200-m, 400-m and 1500-m run and shot put. The VIT women's team won the second place in 800-m run, 4x100-m relay, discus throw, long jump and high jump.

The VIT men's team beat Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, 2-0 and obtained the first place in table tennis, and beat Hindustan University, Chennai, 58-35 and obtained the second place in basketball. The VIT men's team obtained the first place in the 4x100-m relay, shot put and long jump.
