SASTRA signs MoU with UK university

THANJAVUR: The Shanmugha Arts Science Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA) University, Thanjavur, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UK based University of Leicester (UoL) on Thursday to promote collaborative research, teaching and student exchange.

The MoU was exchanged by S. Swaminathan, Dean – Sponsored Research and Director – Centre for Nanotechnology & Advanced Biomaterials (CeNTAB), and Michael Green, Director, International Office of the University of Leicester, at the University campus at Thanjavur.

Based on visits made by Dr.Green and Dr.Chris Cane earlier during this year, a mutual desire to conduct collaborative research in Life Sciences and other areas of engineering emerged. The visiting team from UoL was immensely satisfied with the quality of students, infrastructure and faculty and expressed their desire to sign an MoU with SASTRA. The MoU provides scope for final year B. Tech. students to visit UoL as part of SASTRA's semester abroad programme besides engaging in joint teaching and research programmes, said a press release issued here by the University.
